Juan Martinez, the fiery prosecutor who convicted notorious murderess Jodi Arias for the disturbing killing of Travis Alexander, speaks for the first time about the shocking investigation and sensational trial that captivated the nation.
Through two trials, America watched with baited breath as Juan Martinez fought relentlessly to convict Jodi Arias of Murder One for viciously stabbing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander to death. What emerged was a story wrought with sex, manipulation, and deceit that stunned the public at every turn. Arias, always playing the wronged and innocent woman, changed her story continually as her bizarre behavior surrounding the crime and its aftermath came to light. Unwavering, Arias and her defense team continued to play off the salacious details of the case, until she was finally found guilty and-controversially-sentenced to life behind bars.
Now, speaking openly for the first time, prosecutor Juan Martinez will unearth new details from the investigation that were never revealed at trial, exploring key facts from the case and the pieces of evidence he chose to keep close to the vest. Throughout the trials, his bullish and unfaltering prosecution strategy was both commended and criticized, and in his book, Martinez will illuminate the unique tactics he utilized in this case and how they lead to a successful conviction, and-for the first time-discuss how he felt losing the death penalty sentence he’d pursued for years.
Going beyond the news reports, Martinez will explore the truth behind the multiple facades of Jodi Arias. Sparring with her from across the stand, Martinez came to know Arias like no one else could, dissecting what it took for a seemingly normal girl to become a deluded, cunning, and unrepentant murderer.
With new stories from behind the scenes of the trial and Martinez’s own take on his defendant, the book takes you inside the mind of Jodi Arias like never before. Complete with 16 pages of photos from the case and trial, this book is the definitive account of the case that shocked America.

Mr. Martinez is one of those individuals that I have great respect for. He is a hard worker, ethical and honest and he delivers the truth. What else can you ask for. Most people don't even have one of his qualities.
My favorite part of the cross examination was when Martinez asked, "This memory problem. Is it of recent vintage?" Arias asked "Since when?" And he in exasperation countered, "I don't know, since you began testifying."

It would be interesting if Juan was the prosecutor in the trial of Nikolas Cruz; the perpetrator of the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. While prosecutors in Broward County had initially sought life in prison without parole for Cruz, the Florida State Attorney is seeking that Cruz be sentenced to death for his actions. If Cruz is ultimately sentenced to die by lethal injection; he will be executed at the Florida State Prison for Men. Cruz's attorneys are trying to mount an insanity defense in an effort to keep their client from being sentenced to death; but chances of an insanity defense working for Cruz given his social media posts and history of erratic behavior are slim to nonexistent.

Then when she went to look for it she couldn't find it, and I picture her FRANTICALLY searching for it as time goes by and she finally realizes she's not going to find it and has to leave before someone shows up. It seems like Divine intervention that that happened. Such crucial evidence in proving what she did.
I pictured this as well, anyone could have showed up and the gig would have been up! That stalker 👀 was here! Caught Red Handed!
Her hair in the blood and bloody hand print, she was still busted
Totally agree
I liked it when he started: “The reason I wrote this book IS THAT...
That’s correct English.
Many people, even the educated ones, including news-network anchors and guests, don’t observe it and they would say: “The reason I wrote this book IS BECAUSE ...
Now, “because” is redundant. Cos “reason” above means “I wrote this book because ...”
James Tan Well said! I find it so infuriating the way the English language is misused. I have been reading the comments and have found so many commenters that say “ could of” or “ should of” or “ would of”. Instead of Could have, should have or would have.
Or even could’ve, should’ve, would’ve. I can accept typing errors and spelling mistakes but this issue just makes my blood boil !
Try taking the word THAT out of his statement entirely. Doing so will show you the proper way to make that statement. That is the most often misused word in the English language. I had an amazing sophomore high school English teacher. Example: You will notice people say this all the time instead of you will notice that people say this all of the time. Peace
Wow, didnt realize that until I read this comment. Thank you!
Hey. Glad to know that!
I came here for crime and left with a grammar lesson. Thank you!
His voice is so distinct. I watched the entire trial from beginning to end. Now, his voice brings me immediate comfort lol idk why it just does.
Exceptionally professional......, thank you for getting a guilty verdict for Jodi! Such a tragedy for Travis’s family. I hope they found peace. Highly recommend the book!
Hey Jodie....🤔🤔🤔🤔 What happened to "no jury is going to convict me🤷🏽♀️😂🤣😂🤣
Lol
Even that was a lie.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sounds like something NPD Donald Trump would say too, right? They're very cunning, manipulative, charming, and deadly.
💯💯💯😂
Premeditated murder was so obvious in this case. Prosecutor Martinez did a great job. For a narcissistic person like Jodi, life with no parole is a worse punishment than death.
@@fireandice6805 you think Arias is innocent????!
@@fireandice6805 You seem to only comment on TH-cam about how awful Martinez is. What's your agenda?
@@fireandice6805 ok, you have fun with your obsession. Bye now!
@@fireandice6805 You act like someone who was personally harassed/assaulted by him, but an earlier comment of yours made it clear you only became aware of him from the footage of the trial. Your obsession seems....a bit overblown, and frankly a bit disturbing.
@@fireandice6805 No, they won't. You're a random obsessed person on TH-cam, that's it. Like the Jodi Arias case, facts are needed to convict, not subjective opinions from nowhere.
His book is amazing, I am in awe of him here in 2021. Still amazed by him 🔥
Mr Martinez you made sure Jodi paid for her hideous crime Travis would indeed be proud of you.
How about putting the parents in jail for the child abuse they perpetrated on her to become a psychopath!
@@fireandice6805 Yes! And our Justices are so corrupt! Where are the good ones? Are there any?

@@nicolecrutchfield4601 That’s what the news wants you to believe. Stop watching it and read more. Study. I never said she was a psychopath.
Mr.Martinz gave it his all and fought for Travis.. Thank you for being such an amazing man!!
He was Travis ' voice. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
2021 and I'm still amazed how Prosecutor Juan Martinez put Jodi behind bars. He was one step ahead of her. Good job and keep up the good work. God bless.
Juan Martinez, a very loveable human being, i have lots admireration due the fact he keeps on track and politely does so!
I like this interview very much, and I really liked the book, and it IS interesting to know how Juan Martinez thinks...I mean his complete professionalism, and searching and finding the truth was the most fascinating case and trial I have ever seen. Thank God, Juan Martinez, Det. Flores and the Great State of AZ for putting this murderer in prison until she draws her last breath. It feels good also to pay attention to Juan Martinez and what he did and how he thought about it rather than Ariass getting any more attention in this realm. I just know that she made me scared for any male family member and/or friend that I care about that could date someone like that, because sadly, I think there are more of her kind. Sorry, that was way negative...wouldn't it be great if there weren't?
+fishface123ism You are so right, i agree with you.
You read the book ? Does it have explicit details , and evidence? I want to buy it but idk what extactly is in there, i’ve seen and read alot.
I watched the entire trial. Thanks so much for speaking about it. We all thought that you did an outstanding job.
Juan Martinez You Are the Best 👍👍👍👍👍👍
He was a one man army in this case and boy did he deliver !!!
Awesome prosecutor ! It can be extremely difficult to overcome a narcissist/psychopaths gaslighting and faux victimhood. He had an uphill battle with Arias playing an unsuspecting jury, and prevailed. Great job Mr. Martinez. You are a class act !
are you watching the Johnny Vs Amber trial ?
@@BiancaJadeNZ she’s just like Jodi . Johnny is lucky he got out alive .
Taking nothing away from JM, Detective Flores, did a thorough job as well! 🙌🏼🙌🏼💯👏🏻
I could listen to this men for hours.
Because ur a dumb person like that one.
You must be very bored
His book was amazing. I was glued to this trial. Where I worked at the time, everyone in my department had it on our individual computers every day playing in the background throughout the whole trial. (Probably the quietest any art department has ever been. ) Watching Camille Vasquez during the Depp / Heard trial reminded me a lot of him.
This guy is one of the best prosecutors I've ever seen! I absolutely love him! When I watched him doing this case I see the way he crushes Jody on the stand and I love that! He is amazing
@@fireandice6805 exactly, they only like him because he was aggressive towards Jodi. People hate Jodi so much and lived vicariously through Juan when he was belittling her. Jodi is a monster. She wasn't that hard to convict. This whole god complex about Juan is ridiculous. These sycophants are only familiar with 1 of his cases from his 30 year career, and he did an average job but they treat him like the greatest attorney on earth. I don't know if he just has that effect on people or what, but if thats the case, then no wonder he got away with abusing women for 30 years. Some people on Earth have a striking ability to make people drool. Either that, or the hate for Jodi was so strong that literally a walking/talking bottle of orange juice would have got the accolades as prosecuter. Juan did not do anything special lol, he convicted someone in an easy case. Half the time he talked he was using improper grammar and saying grammatically incorrect things like "He could care less" instead of "Couldn't care less". I dont hate the man, but its just odd that SO many people who have only seen him in action 1 time out of his 30 year career are SO gobsmacked by him
@UC6aTfPRQyi9UbH8n_VvyfyQ Hold on here. Yes, the Arias case was one in a 30-year career. And yes, seeing him nail that lying bitch was satisfying, hence why people like him so much. But aside from this obvious bias, and despite his failings as a person, you need to acknowledge that his mastery of the case and cross-examination techniques, without so much as cliff notes, was very impressive.
Lots of people are fascinated with jody, but Juan's performance as a prosecutor is what makes the whole story interesting. To see and hear his strategy during the trial is the real attraction for me.
Too bad he couldn’t be the prosecutor for the Casey Anthony case.
Right. He would have Plastered her
Soooo much better than the Nancy Grace interview. We can actually hear this man answer clearly and concisely without that shrew interrupting him every 30 seconds...
+Erato IsYourMuse Whenever I open a youtube clip and hear Nancy Grace's voice, I immediately close it.
7beers same here
I know right!! I cant watch her!! She is so rude and disrespectful and doesnt let anyone speak without intterupting them!! Her voice is so annoying to me also!!
That's why I love that video of a young Elizabeth Smart schooling her. Makes me smile every time. "Oh, you poor widdle baby..." "Uh...NO."
Man we needed him for Zimmerman, kasey anthony , and oj
I. Wynn Wynn just like Casey Anthony and OJ right?
@I. Wynn Wynn Zimmerman was not innocent 👀
Autism
Oj got off because everyone was still pissed off..but of course he killed them..Casey was just an absolute ridiculous miscarriage of justice and I wonder if those jurors ever think back about that sweet baby..I thought it was fairly obvious what happened..I believe she drugged her and accidentally killed her..but proving it is another story..she is garbage for accusing her father amd she will get her karma as the universe does not forget a single deed. The Zimmerman case..Im not sure what other info there is but I dont think he is innocent of murder..he took it upon himself to chase that boy down and I don't understand how that is okay. If he was breaking into his home or something then he has a right to defend himself but you shouldn't go around shooting people because they "look suspicious" seems to me like he picked a fight with Mr.Martin but maybe I'm wrong...plus Zimmerman just seems like an asshole..the neighbor everyone rolls their eyes at and laughs about at bbqs lol buuuut as I said...I could be wrong.
Crazy World Juan Martinez would have made mince meat out of OJ Simpson. Marcia Clark came across too weak for Jonny Cockran who incidentally is dead now. I wonder what his answer will be to God on judgement day defending a THUG like OJ. If OJ did not do the murder he hired someone to do it. As for Nicole Simpson she could not separate emotion from intelligence and there are thousands of women like her however, some of us women have the guts to dump a THUG maintain our dignity and prove to the world that we do not need but want and there is a distinct difference between the two
I have read the book. It is Perry Mason at work. Chilling, frightening and a remarkable read. True crime on a whole new level. Extraordinary
I love this man!! He stayed on Jody and made her answer his questions. I’m just sorry she didn’t get the sparky sentence.
this guy is a boss
An amazing prosecutor. One of the best I have ever seen. A brilliant man.
God...i can’t imagine his fear in that moment. No one else to help him and he was stuck alone with her. Just breaks my heart.
Mr. Martinez you are a brilliant prosecutor. Congrats for a job well done. You put a crazy woman behind bars forever. To the Alexander family I send my condolences. RIP Mr. Alexander :-(
Juan Martinez is a beast! He would not let her manipulate him!
I love Juan Martinez! His sincerity is so touching and he truly was an angel for Travis Alexander. Loved reading this book!
No jury will convict me sayeth the stunned psycho killer. Eat that Arias.
@@fireandice6805 she will not get out, she can enjoy her life as she pleases but everyone has to pay for what they do wrong, even if she is enjoying her life in prison, something will happen that will completely ruin her, u might think i’m crazy but give it a few years, maybe until she’s near her death.
@@fireandice6805 "Very respected in jail".......wow.....what an accomplishment....And by the way: citation needed.
@@fireandice6805 lol, no she's not. She's hated in prison. You're in the very small minority of people who defends arias. That should be a red flag for you to realize mostly all people agree Jodi was a cold blooded killer, lier, and BPD. And you're making excuses for her! That's laughable if it wasn't so tragic. Juan isn't going to jail, he willingly stepped down, he's enjoying his retirement, freedom, and respect from most everyone who's aware of him. Your hero, jodi, is making toilet wine for the rest of her life in a 5×8 cell.
@@fireandice6805 no, retirement means relaxing. God, you're dense. Anyone who has to say their IQ is high, is a pathetic loser who's IQ is normal or below.
@@fireandice6805 who cares if he can't lecture?! You supposing he wants too. The man worked 30+ years putting criminals behind bars and now he has freedom to do whatever he damn well wants! You should be more critical of what Jodi CANT do.....she's in a 5×8 cell, no privacy, whatever she earns goes to the Alexander family, her reputation is a known stalker and murderer! But Juan may not be able to lecture lol! Your priorities are severely out of whack.
I love Juan Martinez as a prosecutor so much, I don't care about the allegations and the disbarrement. People who are that passionate, driven and meticulous are a treasure in any profession, even more so in his.
Very intelligent man, he’d be my first choice as a prosecutor
Very consistent with excellent logic
Impressive man
Why go to every comment saying her did a good job to talk of his recent trials? This is very important to you. I care if he was abusing staff, but you seem to be very personally invested.
This guy is flawless in his line of work.
I was intrigued by this case immediately, from the beginning. As I began to learn more and more, especially what an incredible person Travis was in life, I followed entirely from start to finish. I, along with so many others, am so very impressed with the amazing work that Juan did, so much so that I would give anything to meet this man and shake his hand and personally thank him. Mr Martinez, THANK YOU for finally allowing Travis to rest in peace, and to have not allowed his legacy and reputation to just lay there in the mud.
where was he for oj murders??
Josie P with the way racial tensions were, nobody would have gotten OJ convicted.

I've been saying that too
And Casey Anthony
In law school still
May the Lord continue to give you wisdom and discenment. You did a great job🙏🏼
