Been watching a few A-League games recently, the crowds are getting bigger and I'm looking forward to seeing how this season pans out. Sydney narrowly lost 3-2 against Sanfrecce Hiroshima away in the ACL2, but I thought they performed decently well considering how high Sanfrecce are in J1 at the moment. Auckland made a brilliant debut and have gained a following already. First time seeing a Sydney derby live on air and the atmosphere was great. But the biggest shock of all was actually seeing real spectators at a Western United game! Like a unicorn in a forest. Deja vu seeing Riku Danzaki, he struggled at Motherwell here in the SPFL due to injury but good to see him make a comeback with them. He was the A-League golden boot winner a few seasons ago in 2021.
We deserved at least a draw. The winner was a handball, we didn’t even get an explanation why our goal was ruled out, and De Vries was literally riding Klimala in the penalty box. We leave with nothing but some costly injuries
I thought it was an inspired bit of sh1#housery before the game to fly that banner over the stadium, 'NZ is Yellow! See you next week' Shots fired! LOL
As a Sky Blues fan, I'm still scratching my head as to why Hayden Mathews' goal was disallowed 🚫. Adam Kersey has a lot to answer for in the VAR booth, considering Patryk Klimala didn't interfere with the play. Therefore, it was passive offside. The officials must judge if the player without the ball is involved in the play in some way - for example, by challenging for the ball or, say, obstructing the goalkeeper's vision. In that case, the player would be judged offside despite not having touched the ball. In Patryk Klimala's case, he did none of the above therefore Sydney FC's goal should have stood. A 1-1 draw would have been a fair result.
Disapointed, the amount of travel & injuries are reasons to say that we failed against Auckland. Overall, I think this is a result of fatigue & not much to worry about.
If you watch the replay of Auckland's goal in the last seconds closely: Sydney defender at the near post (I think Hayden Matthews) gets pushed very clearly in the back and he would have been there to clear the ball as it came in but because of the push he was also unable to put pressure on the attacker fighting for the scraps. Total bullshit.
@@BigBlueMan118why you complaining about ref decisions when the A league refs are always biased against NZ teams ? You’re finally getting a taste of your own medicine, and now you know what kiwi teams have to deal with week in week out
Great result, It was very looking likely that we would loss or draw this game. Very stoked with the start so far. But it’s a long way to go in the season.

There was also a handball in the lead up to the goal
I was seething for exactly the same reasons @BigBlueMan118.
Sydney FC was totally screwed over by the officials in this game.
The officials are pro-Sydney
What the heck you talking about
@paulpark199 that might have some truth in a general sense but certainly not in this game, did you actually watch it?
