    Hello George, After almost 40 years I am getting back into tying again. Also improving my fly fishing skills. I have watched many videos and I find yours not only instructional but entertaining as well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    When winding the hackle in your parachute fly am I correct in seeing you tie the hackle with the good side facing down I was always wondering did it matter keep up the great tyings regards Ed

      Good question,seems to make little or no difference to the fish,both sides are good..

    Very smart idea George, I have always shied away from using natural quill bodies because I thought they were awkward.but this looks a very straight forward technique. Instead of the quill material you wrapped over the thread, could you use clear mylar or something like that? Or even no material over it, but put on a coat of UV resin like a perdigon?

      Yes Liam the traditional peacock herl is a very delicate material and difficult to work with.I've found this to be the best way to get a realistic looking and durable quill body.Feel free to experiment with some of what you've suggested,they are certainly worth a try,best of luck.
