Sarah held her own alongside Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie. She had perfect pitch and there will never ever be another singer like Sarah Vaughan. She truly was one in 10 billion . Pay note to her tasteful use of vibrato !
@@mozellephilpart1726 I’m a musician that was taught by legends and I was taught what not to play and what to listen out for as musical signposts and Sarah Vaughan is a musical signpost that says this is the way. Thank you for your comment it’s greatly appreciated !
She was and still is the best, she sang beyond the stave, never had the honour of seeing her live I was very young and South African, you get my drift!!!
I was a teenager in 1985. One of the highlights of my young life was seeing this lady at The Academy of Music, in Philadelphia that year. OUTSTANDING!!!
I got a rare chance to see her perform at Carnegie Hall...a year before she died of cancer. Her voice was in perfect form and I cried...oh, what a treasure Ms. Sarah was!
Wow, how I enjoyed this concert! Sarah had an outstanding voice! God gave her this wonderful gift! I also loved her stage persona! Like one commenter stated, there will never be another Sarah Vaughan! I also loved the other muscians, the pianist, bass, drums! That was a time where you could enjoy the vocalist and the instrumentalists! Thank God for recorded videos like this!❤😊🎹
Swinging with Sarah Vaughn, making love to the magic of Nancy Wilson, astounded by the genius of Phoebe Snow, sailing away with Ella Fitzgerald, finding mystery with Shirley Horn and sipping a martini with them all…..the GREATS of voice, motherhood and reminding me of beauty, friends and lasting forevers in a kiss.

Well, Samara Joy may be as talented and skilled.
Couldn't agree more.

Luckyt you. If only I knew her then...
Sarah! My favorite female vocalist, followed closely by Nancy Wilson. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Jazz on a Friday evening. Great way to start the 3 Day, Juneteenth/Charles Woods' reelblack documentary premiere weekend. Classy. 🎶🙌👍✌️

The voice of an angel.
Absolutely amazing
For me, her "My Funny Valentine" is the absolute best version of the song...but all her work was remarkable.

Her voice was always just the instrument in the band and the combo that backed her up
Wonderful beyond measure. Who were her stunning accompanists on this date please?
