    What is considered controversial now wasn't during the war years; it was propaganda needed to get and keep Americans focused on the Allies' goals and the dangers of a loose lip.
    These cartoons ought to be shown today rather than relegated to the vaults because they are important bits of history.

      I agree, to an extent. These cartoons should be shown within their historical context, just as cartoons with racist imagery should be presented with a disclaimer.

    Every cartoon and film you mentioned in the first two minutes were being shown on UK tv back in the 80s when I was a child, I’m so glad I got to see them back then before the world was taken over by the “Woke” virus and people weren’t such pussies scared of committing the despicable crime of offending someones feelings! It just goes to show that hiding these old classic cartoons away from children nowadays serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever because i along with thousands of other children saw them and it didn’t turn us into racists or bigots! It just kept us entertained in front of the TV for half an hour out of Moms way while she cooked the dinner 😂

    • @TheNightmareRider
      @TheNightmareRider ปีที่แล้ว

      You do realise that if these cartoons were released today, they would be slammed as "Woke garbage" by reactionaries, right? Modern audiences aren't nearly as easily offended as you seem to think. Rather, we understand context, and don't want fascism to be promoted.
      These cartoons satirise fascism, not promote them.

    Song of the South . . . "yanked from US screens quicker than you can say Splash Mtn"? I'm not sure what you mean. Yes, the film carried its share of controversy, but it played in theaters across the country on it's original release and afterwards. I myself saw it as a child in the 1970s, when my local movie theater would show Disney classics as matinees during the summer.

    Why is it so difficult to get people to understand that before criticizing things like this that though near impossible you've gotta put yourself in the mindset of Americans during war time. Fortunately most people today haven't experienced a world war and hopefully never will. It was drilled into American's minds to hate the enemy and support the troops. I think people should have easy access to these. Also to "racist" cartoons too. Maybe include why they were made that way. Explain at what point they stopped and what it was that caused them to stop. How will people ever learn or understand if things are just hidden from them by people that believe they know what's best for everyone? (psst. They don't.)

  • @craighanks429

    Yes I agree, you can make fun of the past & we can all agree that unhealthy habits & medical treatments like believing Mercury was beneficial in the 1800’s era. But like the ignorant actress Disney hired to do woke “Snow White” criticizing the original “back in 1937” for being dated the people back then had higher ideals & less PC but they were tougher from the depression era. Where people today tend to be overly entitled & a bunch of wusses. No way younger people today would live without computers, cell phones, or try to read books by kerosene lantern or do without indoor bathrooms. Yeah.
