I drove in from NY to see them in Toronto this summer. Saw them in 2009 and 2013 on their last tours. I have undying love for them, my favorite band of all time. This number and the penultimate one, "Honey in the Sun," brought tears to my eyes as I luxuriated in the experience. I'm thankful they keep bringing beauty into the world. Support them financially if you can. It's important to support art in a world that desperately needs it. Thank you. :)
Think I came across them by way of a vid of ALVVAYS covering "Lloyd". I love ALVVAYS (they're Canadian by the way, and just finally saw them!). Loved the song (Camera Obscura obviously a huge influence of the band), and checked out more of Camera Obscura (just a few months ago!) and was so happy with the new discovery! I had given up on music in the mid 90s. Poi Dog Pondering being my last favorite band from that period. Pretty ecstatic I got to see ALVVAYS and Camera Obscura within the last 2 months! Frankie Cosmos, Big Thief, or Courtney Barnett still on bucket list. Also constantly seeking beauty :)
@@garyives1218 It’s so interesting to see your comment. Interestingly, it actually took me much longer than pretty much all other Canadians to appreciate Alvvays. It's not that I didn't like them, but when they started, I thought they sounded too much like bands like Camera Obscura, so I foolishly wrote them off and didn't give them the attention they deserved. Thankfully I eventually came around and I now enjoy them very much.
@@thevinylvagabond That too is interesting. I'm thinking now, that if I had been familiar with Camera Obscura first, I probably would have had the same reaction to Alvvays at first. If my first impression of a band is that they're kinda copy-cats, I stop paying attention.
I loved the show in Chicago.
