Two years ago I bought the Tech 3 All Terrain because of the soles and they were cheaper than the Tech 7's. I had to take a drill bit and drill the clamps holes larger because it took the jaws of life to unbuckle them. I also put in some Dr. Scholls foot supports. I had used Tech 8's during my motocross days and I kept slipping and falling on podium ramps to get my trophies...ok so there was no trophies but a lot of slipping and falling because of a lack traction on the boots.
I'm just getting back into it after about 40 years away from dirt bike riding (no typo). Grew up riding hard-core all types including trials on Honda. Now at 57 and losing my dad and having a near death thang, life is too short to woulda shoulda... I'm going to find a good XR650R, set it up right and start out easy and build back up to where I feel good and squirrely for me. Not stupid... Squirrely! #nevertoooldtostartriding!
I wanted total protection for a 24 day riding trip. The Sidi Crossfire 2 served me very well riding 10 hours every day, but I am now willing to give up just a little protection for some more walking and riding comfort, thus I'm here with all of you trying to find that "perfect" boot.
I guess they put the flat sole on them over the enduro style, cause those ridgeds would bite the ground when they drop the foot in a corner. The hard plastic ones just slide better over the ground like a sled I guess. Greetz from 🇩🇪
Coincidentally i dislocated my ankle 2 weeks ago ,fully ruptured ligament, torn tendons1 week off work,i cheaped out on a pair of fox comp boots, these are the boots i was looking at ,right video right time:)
I have both pairs. Love the enduro pair for enduro. But not as much on the mx track. Find the grab a lil bit while cornering. Little bit harder to move on the begs. They also seem to hold more mud then the mx pair.
Agree with your comment. While I don't ride motocross, I occasionally dab my inside foot on corners if the rear breaks loose and too much boot traction increases risk of knee injury.
I just bought the Tech7 Enduro . As I see it, apart from the different non slip sole, this version also features Drystar waterproofing. Wich the standard tech 7 does not have. There's a 50 Euro difference in price
Yes the Gaerne and Alpinestars work better for wider feet also the Sidi traditional soles are better for wider feet supposedly than the sole replace system model...Sidi crossfire TA fits me great and better than Gaerne but I like the looks and sole of that new Alp enduro..thanks for the info!
the downside of treads is they can get caught up on the pegs when transitioning to shift or brake quickly. if i were racing I wouldn’t want grooves in the boots like that, but I can see why someone would like them for walking off the bike. should also add that I got a severely sprained foot a few weeks ago in tech 7, and virtually every area of the foot got contorted from running up a bank on the side of a trail. They are very comfy but I’m second guessing the protection. The sole and ankle has a lot of flex and it bent my toes and ankle way back. Everything is a trade off I guess. Considering Gaerne Sg10 or 12 but they are definitely less comfy.
Sorry to be so off topic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my account password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Joe Lachlan Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is about 4 years late, but the enduro tech 7's are waterproof and the enduros are also lighter than the regular tech 7's. Neither of those would be used for motocross. They are adventure boots (and I actually use them for touring because touring boots suck for protection). Motocross is another level up. Great video though. The reason the regular tech 7's exist is for people who live in hotter climates and want cooler (but wetter) feet which you get from not having the drystar lining.
Nice video. I always heard those Alpinestar boots were the most comfortable. Maybe you can make an end of the world video where you can only take 1 bike with minimal supplies. Where would you go? North to Sieria's or south to Baja?
Keep up the good work Mark 👍Nice review and keep em coming. Maybe do a Baja guacamole video to complement your salsa recipe or something. I need something to do with all my free time 🤣
I've got the tech 7s and man you ain't kidding about the squeaking. I spray wd40 on the hinges to quiet them down lol. My favourite boot for sure though.
An idea🤔. A detailed list of the mods you have done to the BRP aka “THE BEAST” and what things you might do differently. Lighting options 🤔 The new LED compared to what you have... making an off-road bike street legal in California😫🤮🤔 just some ideas love what you’re doing..
Just what I wanted to know. The Tech 7's are on sale for us weird sizes, but I'll spend an extra $100 to not land on my ass on a wet rock or metal steps and painted floors. If you have an affiliate link I'd buy the 7 enduro's through it in a heartbeat to get you the kickback?
I have a 2006 XR650R. Its mint. Is there any truth to "un corking" this bike by disconnecting something or by passing something? Or is it internet rumor?
I would like to see more videos of SoCal riding areas and places to camp, maybe even support equipment ideas like trucks, campers etc. Keep up the good work I enjoy the videos & podcasts.
The hard plastic on the tech 7 slides better when they put their foot out in the turns than if the bottom of the boot had a tread pattern. That's all.
Just bought the Tech7 enduro daystar it's a game changer.
MX boots are designed to slide over the dirt, especially during high speed cornering.
Exactly
Yeah that slippery toes is really for your knees.

I totally agree. All boots need to have more grip.
I agree all boots need more grip.

Lower end Fox boots suck - heard of multiple peeps injuring foot/ankle.
Thanks, really help me choose, enduro type make sense.

@Joe Lachlan It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Josiah Cohen Glad I could help :)
Love the Tech 7s , I was hesitant to get enduro model because I thought it would grab too much when I put a foot down while cornering.
True john. The last few months I have noticed it’s not that grabby.

100% agreed! Full length review/ walk around featuring “The Dominator” it will be epic.
Nice video I got a bike but no gear fancy lending me some boots 🥰
Thank you very much !!

I don't expect you to continue to produce YT vids but your great content is missed. I hope we can get back to normal soon.
So which one of these can I possibly use for on & off road / adventure riding?
Is the enduro sole thicker / taller than the cross one? Thaks
:) thanks man.....
I'm getting some...😎
Any video ideas? hit me below.....

Adventure travel options in California - some route reviews would be great to see.
More XR videos, parts, maintenance, new technology/options, possibly races or reviews idk, I just want to see the bike more lol
Alberto Bones thx alberto. I think i have done everything i could on the xr650r video wise. Its already the most stolen image on Instagram. 😎
