+John-Zander Guida They were all brilliant its very hard to call which one is the best. At the end of the day it all comes down to personal opinion. My fav is defo ME2 just for the ending i thought it was a brilliant finish for the story arc in that game and the build up to the final game with the final cutscene showing the reapers on their way. But as i said everyone has their fav moments and fav game out of the 3. ME4 has some rather large boots to fill lets hope it can match up to the task :)
***** The issue wasn't that the ending wasn't happy. It was the it was nonsensical, lazy writing that was unsatisfying and asked more questions then it answered whilst breaking the games own established canon.
A little late to the party, but Imma pitch in regardless. What is the most disheartening about the ending in itself, is how great the games and experiences were; and how much better a conclusion it deserved. The indoctrination theory could have made up for all the lousy artistic decisions made, but they shut it down. Mass Effect deserved so much more.
AarlandSun i agree with you completely up until the very end mass effect 3 was incredible. i remember when i first completed me3 and i sat there gobsmacked i couldnt believe my all time favourite game had been given such a poor ending
ME3's theme tune captures the essence of the game perfectly, emotional and heavy. I really enjoyed ME3 but at the same time was so glad to finish it. During play through I xould feel the weight of the war on my mind and to me that more than anything else shows the greatness of the game and what the entire series built
I'm a little late to the party, but after getting the Mass Effect trilogy for Christmas and marathoning the entire thing, I must say that I am utterly in love. I'm such a noob when it comes to gaming but Mass Effect brought me something I'd never experienced before. Amazing soundtrack, game play, and story, all mushed into one product. Gosh though, now whenever I hear ME3's music I wanna cry. Personally ME2's music is my favorite for the sheer badassness but ME3's music makes me feel the most emotional.
+RainiDays Better late then never, I have myself replayed 2 & 3 a few times now. I find ME 1 a bit grindy but the story is good and Saren makes a really good villain. So did you get the Citadel for ME 3? It is really worth a look and adds a lot of humor to the game. (My fav bit is when tali gets upset that you trashed the fish tank in the sushi bar)
Evil Tigz indeed I did get the Citadel DLC. The entire premise of it is so silly but it's just too great, so many funny moments. $15 well spent I must say
RainiDays Lol well the story did need a bit of light relief and considering the citadel was done as a love letter to the fans it is very much worth it. Plus it was fun to actually play around the Citadel before its demise and the character interactions was great.
90% of gamers nowadays are mentally 8 year olds that will throw a tantrum when their parent doesn't buy them icecream and will say it's the worst day in their life even if they spent all day at Disneyland and were having the time of their life up until then. If you know what I mean.
Sérgio Alves Best statement ever lol with the extended cut I thought me3s ending was pretty good. Most gamers have to stop being children. Go make your own damn game if you want to be like that.
Day one dlc taken from the game, the star of the game was rubbish, jogging slow and sprinting fast makes imbalanced gameplay ect.. i am a fan of 1 and 2 because they don't do what me3 did
IT was not so bad. IT was a war, and on the war you can make many right choices, and none of them realy even matter at the end. I know i'm a topic digger
idk about landscapes. The game has it's limitations, the major one being it's not open-world and you can't jump. They did a pretty kick-ass job in SWTOR though with the landscapes. If only they didn't steal the combat system from another game... we'd have something worth remembering like mass effect.
My favourite video gaming series of all time! I really love Halo and The Elder Scrolls, but there’s something about the Mass Effect trilogy that is special and makes it feel more than a video game. The characters are believable, likeable, hatable, loveable, a lot of them feel like real people almost with their complex personalities. Take that and put it up against an epic and large scifi background with a galaxy full of interesting species with a cosmic threat like the Reapers and it’s just made more awesome!
Might be an unpopular opinion but for me, Mass Effect 3 was the best overall, followed by ME1 and then ME2. Either way, it's my favourite video-game series.
Oh God, I remember when Mass Effect theme hit me for the first time. It made me shiver, it was so good. What a beautiful track, what a masterpiece of a game.
I like the idea to experience this songs keeping in mid what the 3 games are about: the first one, discovery. the second one, heroism. the third one, sacrifice. imo the songs give this exactly idea.
Mass Effect Sits Side by Side Metroid Prime Trilogy for Excellent, Atmospheric Design with compelling story and Gameplay, And the Music Just Completes it, props to the Composer.
i liked the ME3 ending(especialy the extended cut), i think most people just don't like the ambiguity, the only realy bad thing is that it doesn't leave it open to a sequel
I liked the ending too but I think most people don't like it coz of 4 things. 1 being that they didn't get to see their ending they wanted for their character. Which I don't think bioware could of made that many endings for what every body was hoping for. 2 They didn't show what happen to all the races and when they did it was photos. 3 instead of a big boss fight (harbinger) they got the ghost child that most people didn't understand or want. 4 didn't make the most of / used the indoctrination theory, which made a lot of sense. Still a good ending compared to A LOT of games tho... just people have a lot of heart in the game. People do need to cut them a brake now tho and look forward for mass effect 4!!!
I love the whole trilogy. Mass Effect 1 gives me real nostalgic vibes and makes me want to play it all over again, Mass Effect 2 wasn't my favorite but I still liked it a lot because of the missions, the equipments and the way it gave a smooth transition to Mass Effect 3 with choices that really mattered. And Mass Effect 3 was maybe my favorite. I'm a sucker for story and character development and seeing my favorite characters interract with each other was a real breeze. Also, this game made me cry so much, god. So yeah, I don't care about the endings. That's just the end and while I'll admit it could have been better I still will defend this game because the rest of it was hella good.
***** No, only in 3. In 1 and 2, Shepard continually says, both to the Reapers and the galaxy at large, that everyone must unite and prepare to face them, and that they'll beat the Reapers if they work together and try. 3 just shoved hopelessness so aggressively down the players' throats it became annoying
MegaDAgr8 Yeah but ME3 has a drastic shift in what is happening. The entire galaxy is actually under attack. Millions are being killed on all different homeworlds. They actually get to talk to a real Prothean that makes them realize their chance for survival is near impossible. In ME1 and 2 they were trying to stop the reapers from getting through and hopefully prevent the attacks. I think the entire point of ME3 was how hopeless and impossible it would be to fight the reapers.
It was EA. EA wanted a Mass Effect 4 with a new Character. because of that the indoctrination theory came about from the rumors of Mass Effect 4 and it occurring during the War with the Reapers. EA wanted to keep the cash cow going without thinking up any real new lore or expanding the story much more. Lazy pricks!!!
lauren burroughs Actually I do. I was paying close attention to the info surrounding the release of ME3 ever since I finish my play through of ME2. If you look at the lore aspect of Mass Effect, then you will see that ME3 violates several key pieces of lore that the entire plot is built on. Namely the lore around Reaper indoctrination and the three endings. Control is illusive man's argument. Synthesis is Seren's argument from ME 1. And destroy is the argument everyone else on your side makes; especially Javik. Bioware did say, in the year before the release of ME3, that they wanted to have a moment were Shepard is partially indoctrinated and the player would have to fight it. Bioware also planned on ME3 finish the story of Commander Shepard as the protagonist; again, a year before the release of ME3. This stuff that was announced goes to explain the strange scene at the very end of the destroy ending were Commander Shepard wakes up and starts breathing deeply surrounded by the ruble of London, why we don't see Admiral Anderson enter the citadel and why Shepard starts bleeding in the same place that Admiral Anderson was shot. THIS also explains how the illusive man was able to force Shepard into shooting Anderson in the first place on the Citadel, which according to lore is not and has never been a power of the Reapers (the ability to control another races tech without augmenting it with their own first). Shepard has Human and citadel races implants; NOT reaper. EDI has dormant reaper protocols; dormant means "Not in use; Not necessary for function" so destroy ending would have no effect on her. The Geth modified their program with a copy of a Reaper program, but it was alter enough to prevent the reapers from take control over them; so again Destroy ending will have no effect on them as well. This is in the lore of ME3 main campaign that the Reaper Control AI contradicts. The Original plan of ME4 was to have a new character to expand the Mass Effect universe with; and the why it is set up right now ME4 and possible ME5 with take place during the Reaper War. EA had a say in the plot expansion and said no. Everyone paying attention to EA and Bioware press releases knows this. EA wanted to keep Mass effect limited at the moment and only wanted to expand the story in small increments to get more money out of gamers.
Mass effect and metal gear solid are definetly the best games for story that are available right now. If someone hadn't played these games then clearly they haven't had the best experiences and moments gaming.
mass effect 3 had the best combat, the most immesive and emotional story and honestly i never got the bullshit about the ending, it was a great ending and serves as a good closure for the trilogy. my only problem was the lack of dialogue choices, aside from that great game.
NeosZangetsu I'll be glad if it's a great story with good characters and nice music, I don't expect any sci-fi game to top what mass effect trilogy has done.
I agree with Danilo, all three give a different feel to what each game was about. ME 3 music was the best and strongest feel to help portray the story line.
If I would be the Harbinger, then I would assume direct Control of Mass Effect Andromeda, and let it fly in the Omega 4 Portal in high speed so it crashes into the metro id's and destroid ships... Always love you Tali!
You should know that almost every movie adaptations of video games were extremely bad... Why would you wish that for Mass Effect? The only good adaptation that comes to my mind is the recent Warcraft movie, and still it doesn't succeed in reproducing the beauty of the lore and the universe, the whole feeling of the game.
I know that pretty much every movie adaption of a video game has been bad. But i hope that if anyone ever decides to make a movie or a tv-series about Mass Effect, the director is someone who truly knows how to make good movies, especially scifi (James Cameron, JJ Abrams?) and that the soundtrack is t least as good as in the games :)
Me1: introduction of Shepard and his heroics Me2: achieve victory by any means without the knowledge of returning through unity and loyalty Me3: leaving your home without the guarantee that you will return. That this could really be your final mission. That's my thoughts on the music Although you could also say the music emphasises these as well Me1 this is Shepard our hero Me2 this is how badass Shepard is Me3 Shepard isn't invincible Can't wait for mass effect 4. New characters new start. Perhaps a look into the first contact war? When humanity was exploring? I don't know. Hopefull bioware won't let EA make it a money grabbing piece of shit
Sproeikoei I'm silently hoping that they learned their lesson the first time. It wasn't good publicity and I doubt they'd want it to happen again. But, Bioware has had a string of shooting itself in the foot.
+ImAPigeon well seeing as bioware just put their foot down on ea's leveling limitations in star wars the old republic it seems like they are done giving in to ea
Imperial Productions They essentially are EA. EA has not been there issue. EA gave them extra time to finish mass effect 3 and delayed it months, Bioware then continued to make that ending with the extra time they had. EA is in fact been very good in recent times.
ME1 And ME2 were about building Shepard up ..ME3 was about a despirate struggle, and one man/womans sacrifice to handle it. ME4 should cannonically do what Deus ex did, ALL the endings happen, Shepard took control of the Reapers, and destroyed them, by merging biology with Technology and was then deposited back in his/her body to wake up ,/take that breath
I kind of like the cowboy theme in the Andromeda teaser... maybe a western style mass effect along the lines of Galaxy Rangers, Brave Starr, Saber Rider... :D
Music evokes your emotions, and these songs fit the desired effect. Gung-ho shit wouldn't work as a theme for ME3 because no one expects to beat the reapers. You have the quiet, sad, hopeless piano part to reflect the human state of mind, then the loud _brrrrrooom_ representing the reapers attacking. The human piano part then begins to build up to overcome the reapers and turns into more of a 'maybe... we can do it!' feel. Then it fades down to silence to represent the quiet before the storm (final battle) and the fact that it's all up to you to save the galaxy now. So quit ya bitchin'
Imagine, 1 day a remaster of those game, with a new gen engine and all of those 3 games in 1 package :D (I'm not talking about the shitty/meh - remaster we have now, I'm talking about a remaster in 4-5 years).
Jonathon Thomas In my opinion that wouldn't be a problem. They don't have to focus on Shepard. Or they could show us a prequel for Shepard. Or they could just choose the ending. Anyway, I don't think there will be a tv show for Mass Effect . And i hope there won't be.
Hey! Bioware makes great games. They even went out of their way to make a DLC that fixed the endings. They didn't have to. They could have said, screw all of you, we have our money, buh bye. But they didn't.
Its 2019 and Mass Effect trilogy is still the best gaming experience for me. Man, i even lost my GF cause playing me3. She just dont understand how much we can lost.. :D Funny thing is when my friend want to borrow me it, i though that's another shitty sci fi Star trek wannabe. I was so wrong....
Indeed so, and I shan't attempt to persuade you of its validity. You are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, I only ask that you remain mindful that the Extended Cut did not fix things outright for everyone, and understand why many fans are still upset about the endings.
RIP Mass effect series . . . . 1 was sublime, 2 was ok, 3 . . . my heart broke. Less and less RPG to the point that everything is on rails . . . . EA to blame?
Andromeda will bring back some good rpg elements, but I really don't see a problem with the other games. The combat was the same but smoother. I guess the talent point system changed a lot. Loot was more of a hassle than a feature, but loot, crafting, and the open-world Mako experience are all coming back. We don't know anything about this new galaxy, so expect lots of open-world exploration. They said it's the biggest game yet too
Oh I understand that. I didn't like the "Paragon" or renegade endings. Personally, I chose synthesis and I thought it was well done. I understand your point, but at least Bioware tried to fix it. That's more then most comanies.
ME1 has the best story, ME2 has the best characters/gameplay and ME3... hmm... I would have respected it if they actually stuck to the indoctrination theory, and actually made a no hope ending. I would have at least respected it, but they had to create bullshit for DLC and sequels...
ME1: Best in story
ME2: Best overall
ME3: Best in feels
Viderberg Even though i love ME1, i don't play it, i usually go straight for ME2 then ME3. ME2 is best no doubt.
+Thiago Naves so do I I like the team song but play it
+Davidf Francia Most Would Think Im Weird Saying ME3 Was The Best.
+Thiago Naves They definitely hadn't yet worked out the gameplay kinks in ME1. Definitely didn't enjoy driving the Mako and inventory management.
Funny thing is even with a bad ending this series still gives you the best gaming experience, EVER.
***** It's not about having a happy ending. The ending is bad for a ton of other reasons.
***** The issue wasn't that the ending wasn't happy. It was the it was nonsensical, lazy writing that was unsatisfying and asked more questions then it answered whilst breaking the games own established canon.
Glade Biddle I'm just hoping that what it left us with wool be answered with 4
A little late to the party, but Imma pitch in regardless.

ME1: Intro, let's start out small.
ME2: Fight or die, your choice.
ME3: Killing everyone you've grown to love.
Hi, this is commander Shepard and this is my favourite ost in the universe.
Branching out from just the Citadel, huh, Shepard?
The first one is the most nostalgic.
I'll make the call
ME3's theme tune captures the essence of the game perfectly, emotional and heavy. I really enjoyed ME3 but at the same time was so glad to finish it. During play through I xould feel the weight of the war on my mind and to me that more than anything else shows the greatness of the game and what the entire series built
ME1: This is our young hero......
ME2: Who is a badass.......
ME3: But not invincible.
Mass Effect 1,2,and 3 are the best games i have played
Agreed can't wait for andromeda
7:18 when this came on in Mass effect 2 and the Normandy SR2 was revealed... made me shiver with excitement the first time..
Jack wall , we need you in Mass Effect Andromeda. These compositions are gorgeous
Or Hans Zimmer
+PSPvideoZocker agreed, Sir
Clint Mansell and Sam Hulick were on the third game I think. Jack Wall was doing Black Ops 2’s ost.
*”My face is tired”*
9 people got the ardat yakshi death in ME2
Hiro Murdoch that death HAS to be the most brain dead, avoidable, easily prevented cause of death in the franchise

1:11, the chills man...the chills.
I don't know why everyone hates the 3rd game, sure it had a really crappy ending but the rest of it was awesome.

I like that it isn't opened for a sequel. The epic story ended. New sequel would propably put shame on whole ME family.

Who the hell was on the committee that agreed to that drastic shift?

Oh yea! Cant wait for the upcoming masseffect next year!
ME3 theme gives me the shivers that none other gave me. The simplest yet powerful theme in the trilogy.
wow....i do believe this is one of the only videos on youtube that i have seen without ANY thumbs down!

none will top mass effect 1 theme, its too gud
NeosZangetsu I'll be glad if it's a great story with good characters and nice music, I don't expect any sci-fi game to top what mass effect trilogy has done.
Jack lau Mass Effect 2 has the best theme in the whole of gaming
Damn... I wish you were right... ME Andromeda has been such a mediocre game... arrrgh,. what a pity!
I only really like the first theme. It's so mysterious! And the other 2 are just the regular stuff.
Gawd these games are so great.

Why does the ME 1 theme remind me of Tron?
The Best!
Me1: introduction of Shepard and his heroics
Me2: achieve victory by any means without the knowledge of returning through unity and loyalty
Me3: leaving your home without the guarantee that you will return. That this could really be your final mission.
That's my thoughts on the music
Although you could also say the music emphasises these as well
Me1 this is Shepard our hero
Me2 this is how badass Shepard is
Me3 Shepard isn't invincible
Can't wait for mass effect 4. New characters new start. Perhaps a look into the first contact war? When humanity was exploring? I don't know. Hopefull bioware won't let EA make it a money grabbing piece of shit
The way they had to use dlc to complete ME3 says enough about how ME4 is going to be.
Sproeikoei I'm silently hoping that they learned their lesson the first time. It wasn't good publicity and I doubt they'd want it to happen again. But, Bioware has had a string of shooting itself in the foot.
Sproeikoei Tis' a different dev of bioware handling the next game.
ME2 theme kinda sounds like the "I am the Doctor" theme from Doctor Who...
Je suis d'accord c'est le même thème que la saison 6
You have not won Shepard. You have the attention of those infinitely your greater
ME1 Best even for today's standarts
ME2 Just another game of the year..
ME3 A deserved end and reedem of the franchise to honor the fisrt one.
JonatasMonte AGREED! I thought it was just me. ME2 wasnt that bad though, its still great, just not ME1 great.
ME3 emotionally destroyed me more than Ashley dying on Virmire
Huh... I never realized that. Awesome!
Pure. Epic.
Mass Effect 1: Discovery
Mass Effect 2: Loyalty
Mass Effect 3: Sacrifice
Joana Shepard for ever!!!
3 is the best by far I think
those 3 piano notes do so much
Hi simplicity at its best
+Hi "BWAAAH"
ME1 And ME2 were about building Shepard up ..ME3 was about a despirate struggle, and one man/womans sacrifice to handle it. ME4 should cannonically do what Deus ex did, ALL the endings happen, Shepard took control of the Reapers, and destroyed them, by merging biology with Technology and was then deposited back in his/her body to wake up ,/take that breath
rj frame Two things.
1. ME4 is a prequel.
2. Red (destroy) is canon ending, no matter what you feel.
DarkSpyro707 if its a prequel ... not getting it... it would ruin the storyline and imagination I obtained from 1,2, and 3.
LadyDanielle Zana
The game is taking place in a different galaxy, so idk why that wold ruin it for you.
Still say deus ex did it best...all then endings are cannon
+DarkSpyro707 It's going to be a sequel.
I kind of like the cowboy theme in the Andromeda teaser... maybe a western style mass effect along the lines of Galaxy Rangers, Brave Starr, Saber Rider... :D
3 always make me a litel sad in a god way
Art
added a little something extra to the end of the ME2 theme
ME1: THE BEST
ME2: The Most Fun
ME3: Great Finale
I hope they leave the franchise alone
Too late, they're already making a 4th game. But it's not going to be with Shepard.
then its not a 4th game is it? no its a spin off or a different series
Caius Ballad if it's called mass effect 4, it's the fourth game
thats stupid, because then its not a sequel
technically it is. Just with a different story and character.
Why does the ME2 theme sound a bit like the 11th doctors theme but slowed down. Either way still good.
Imagine, 1 day a remaster of those game, with a new gen engine and all of those 3 games in 1 package :D
(I'm not talking about the shitty/meh - remaster we have now, I'm talking about a remaster in 4-5 years).
You called it man!
This song reminds me of Manshizzle
No game can compare to Mass Effect, best game ever made !!!!
to:2015071-What are you saying man, thats AMAZING game ever (all series,DLCs)
YESSSSS
kinda reminds me of my marching show from last year
Am I weird if I liked the ME1 combat system the most? It felt a lot more tactical, which fits Shepard imo.
The song at 7:10 reminds me of Halo :o
ME2 is just the best game ever.
Very doctor who like music
Who's listening to this in 2020?
They could never make a movie or tv series because they wouldn't be able to pick the actual canon ending
Actual canon ending? Depending on your choices, the endings can be massively different.
Yeah I know, that's the whole point of what I'm trying to say. We couldn't have a TV show or a movie because of that.
Jonathon Thomas In my opinion that wouldn't be a problem. They don't have to focus on Shepard. Or they could show us a prequel for Shepard. Or they could just choose the ending.
Anyway, I don't think there will be a tv show for Mass Effect . And i hope there won't be.
Or just have a cinematic universe rather than making a certain choice canon.
Hey! Bioware makes great games. They even went out of their way to make a DLC that fixed the endings. They didn't have to. They could have said, screw all of you, we have our money, buh bye. But they didn't.
1st great game and great concept
2nd meh
3rd meh 2.0
Its 2019 and Mass Effect trilogy is still the best gaming experience for me. Man, i even lost my GF cause playing me3. She just dont understand how much we can lost.. :D
Funny thing is when my friend want to borrow me it, i though that's another shitty sci fi Star trek wannabe. I was so wrong....
I hope mass effect 1 mass effect 2 Mass effect 3 comes to Nintendo switch please Nintendo make it helped in 2019 or 2020😞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'll choose ME1 theme every time.
3>2>1. in terms of music of course
ME2 theme reminds me of Portal 2 somewhat
Indeed so, and I shan't attempt to persuade you of its validity. You are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, I only ask that you remain mindful that the Extended Cut did not fix things outright for everyone, and understand why many fans are still upset about the endings.
What's your favourite game? Mine's the first.
Me2 is the most gripping
RIP Mass effect series . . . . 1 was sublime, 2 was ok, 3 . . . my heart broke. Less and less RPG to the point that everything is on rails . . . . EA to blame?
Andromeda will bring back some good rpg elements, but I really don't see a problem with the other games. The combat was the same but smoother. I guess the talent point system changed a lot. Loot was more of a hassle than a feature, but loot, crafting, and the open-world Mako experience are all coming back. We don't know anything about this new galaxy, so expect lots of open-world exploration. They said it's the biggest game yet too
Am I the only one who thinks the 2nd game had the soundtrack?
Oh I understand that. I didn't like the "Paragon" or renegade endings. Personally, I chose synthesis and I thought it was well done. I understand your point, but at least Bioware tried to fix it. That's more then most comanies.
esta canción son para los masefistas de verdad
ME1 has the best story, ME2 has the best characters/gameplay and ME3... hmm... I would have respected it if they actually stuck to the indoctrination theory, and actually made a no hope ending. I would have at least respected it, but they had to create bullshit for DLC and sequels...
The series has a LOTS of flaws, but the experience as a whole was downright incredible.
Me1 is the best
ME2
I love the themes and the forst 2 games but i hate me3
ME2 the best ^^
3 is as good as 2, apart from the ending
FemShep over Male shep anyday
52nd comment FTW!!!
Can we stop the talk about me3 witch was bad in a lot of ways and focus on the best sifi action games of all time.
It wasn't bad. The ending may have suffered by some short sightedness but overall the game play was intense and exciting. It felt smooth and engaging.
The One Named Kevbob So the only words you read from my comment were "talk" "about " "me3"
