  • Fira Gershgorin, who was born in Litin in 1923 and lived there during the war years, tells how on December 19, 1941 she, the members of her family, and the other Jews from Litin were brutally forced from their homes, under the pretext of being resettled, and taken to the local military barracks. She relates how she was taken to the edge of a pit while her father, mother, and sisters were put into a group of skilled workers who would be spared the massacre, and how her mother succeed in grabbing her away to safety from the edge of the pit.

What heart wrenching stories. I don't want to hear these atrocious accounts committed against innocent men, women and children but feel it is not only important but also my duty to hear the words of these survivors. I can't imagine living with such horrid memories and the mental pictures of these times. After such experience how is it possible to live a normal life? A day is coming when mankind will be held accountable for their evil actions.
