    1:17 - Bodie, still dissin’ D even in death. He viewed D as sort of a wimp, but still missed him somewhat and had a certain amount of grudging loyalty to him. The false narrative that D hung himself, reinforced Bodie’s view of him as a “weak ass n....”. However, just about everything Bodie knew about managing a corner was largely from D and strangely D was his most influential mentor. They shared a tortured relationship, with Bodie dissing D him one moment and giving him a ‘strong’ home-going the next. Bodie, through his funeral, wanted people to remember D from his hey day running one of ‘them Towers’ and not a guy from the pit who committed suicide. The purple machine gun, in Bodies mind, was symbolic of his view of D, but he changed it up to ‘strong colors’. Bodie was trying to somewhat redeem D’s name...

Ppl say D is a snitch but remember bodie was about to drop dime on Marlo's crew. Bodie was starting to see things D seen it towards the end. He kept it good with the police, he kept it real with his folks on the corner & turned a weak strip into a boom like d did with the pit & as he got older he started seeing the dope could be sold without all the bullshit, lessons from D

    This scene is so intriguing because it shows how hardened and jaded Street life makes you. Kind of like when Tony Soprano goes to therapy, Bodie cannot even react for the question of how the death made him FEEL. Whereas Tony lashes out, Bodie simply ends the conversation and walks out. The trauma and brutality of street life requires one to just push their emotions down, and never let them out. So now he’s being forced to confront them, and that’s too painful so he just doesn’t acknowledge them. So much packed in to this little exchange

    D'Angelo picked the wrong time to have a heart.
    He got himself killed stupidly. Great actor and character.
    Bodie's dialogue is amazing.
    The actor playing him was in 3 of the big 4 gangster shows of the era (Breaking Bad is second tier);
    OZ, The Wire and in one brief scene, The Sopranos.
    His prose about, "if he ain't shxt, then neither am I", sums up the fragile brotherhood of street hoodlums. They may talk, no honor amongst thieves, but you really don't make it without partners-homeboys.
