Was fortunate enough to see Alela live near my hometown in France a few weeks ago, and at some point she asked which tune we wanted to hear, I shouted "THE WIND", she smiled, paused a few seconds, played another song then said "I could play that, I could play the wind!" My heart kinda melted, and I'll remember it all my life! Thanks Alela!
God, I think Alela Diane may be the most beautiful woman ever. She’s absolutely stunning. To be so beautiful on the inside and out, if I ever met someone like that, I’d be down on my knees proposing pretty quickly.
This made me tear up a bit...Taking the lyrics literally, it seems like she lost a little sister.. very sad and hits home. Someone below mentioned that they think she had mentioned in an interview that she had lost a friend. Either way they must have been very close. Fabulous song.
Woman of the island, please send me light Put it in an envelope, post it to L.A 'Cause I'm on the wind, I can't go back I am a dream on the wind The organ cried out in the night A phantom song of notes in time It is I, pounding out the chords From the still, of the unknown Cause I'm on the wind, I can't go back I am a dream on a wind Too late darling, it was too late Too late mama, I've gone to the sky How can we learn, learn to lose How can we learn, learn to lose Death is a hard act to follow, ooh Death is a hard act to follow Now I give grace to you and yours From this bright new home of silver moon Sweet sister, I am with you forever more La, la la, la la, la, la La, la la, la la, la, la ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They do. You just need to search. Maybe try: Rachel Sermanni 'Don't Fade', Buffalo Tales (Wes Carr, featuring Rachel Sermanni) 'Crazy Heart', Rhiannon Giddens 'I'm On My Way', 'Heather Nova 'Rewild Me' Eliza Shaddad 'Just Goes To Show' (piano version).
I love Alela and her music, but I don't really understand the point of the few videos they've made. People standing solemnly in nature. A ghost girl. It's all so rote. It doesn't add anything to the beautiful vocals, for me. I'd rather see them actually in action, performing the song, or something like that. Still, I guess this is better than the "Desire" video, which is like 50% just an extreme face closeup. Still I'd rather see more HD live concert video; put these cameras to good use.

This is so deeply inspiring and touching. As the entire Wild Divine album is.
Well that just made me start crying... superb work, excellently crafted and executed. Beautiful.
I cried when I heard this song. So full of emotion and melancholy. You’re incredibly beautiful Alela 💛
Délicieusement magique
Such a morning song. Such a mourning song.
Bellíssimo ❤❤❤
Love this song
This video is like a cross between the movie "The Piano" and that Fleetwood Mac video in the desert.
Sweet job, Darren!
Awesome !
Wow. Doesn't anyone make such songs anymore?
They do. Alela Diane for example.

Women.. the beauty part of the planet ...
I like how the girl just follows her around like a stalker.
I like the break around 2:00 - learn to lose / death is a hard act to follow
2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, she sings good, she needs to put more personality into it, now, put it all together, and go for it.
I think that's the point, simple videos.. the music and lyrics are whats important. Alela doesn't need all that.
