Not sure why you are shocked, the color swatches clearly show the neon orange on lighter blonde bases.

Yikes, I'm not ready for that! I can't seem to find a more muted, natural copper conditioner - I may end up mixing one with light brown or something. My hair is really bleached, I can't use any more developer on it or it will just melt so semis or permanent dyes are out.

It turned orange because it’s a toner, not a dye. People will usually reach for it to brighten up copper or red hair.
A red or copper dye has brown pigment, which prevents your hair from turning orange.
So if you already have red/copper hair and wanted to brighten it, and you reached for something with any amount of brown pigment then your hair would turn brown. The overtone needs orange instead of brown in order to due this.
    Hope this info is helpful!

Wow! I looked into the mai tai shade, and that was EXACTLY the color I was trying to achieve. I've been giving my hair a break from bleach, but once I bounce back, I would love to try this shade. Thanks for the hair color tip.

You could try Revlon colour bomb if you want a more natural colour and you can mix them to create the tones you want.

Ooh, I haven't tried mixing shades, but that's a great idea to possibly create more dimension to the hair color.

@@TheDrunkBridesmaid Yes I love having my hair red but have a similar problem to you and my hair is damaged from pre lightening. So initially I used a touch of the 7.30 golden blonde with the 7.40 copper and it comes out a bit more natural.

Try ginger from Adore. More natural (and cheaper)

Nice! Once this Overtone finally fades from my hair I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

I used this the other day and same results. I have tried to embrace it however I still hate it. Can’t even look at myself. I have been trying to shampoo and condition with both purple and blue shampoos and conditioner and it not really doing anything. I wish I did a strand test and looked online cause apparently I am stuck unless I shave my head. Any suggestions on getting this neon orange out?!!

Hi Colleen, were you able to get the orange out? I hope you didn't have to shave your head!! I struggled so much with this- I too tried washing with purple shampoos, and after a miserable month of neon orange, I finally bought Overtone golden brown, and this shade really helped color over the orange. I had to keep liberally applying the brown colored conditioner every time I washed, as the brown would begin to fade and the orange would peek back through, but this really helped even out the orange. Here's the vid on going brown: th-cam.com/video/-l5aLNx7NqI/w-d-xo.html

Try head and shoulders or clarifying shampoo. A bleach bath works too.

  • @micamicamicachoo

    Did it completely wash out?

The orange color really clung to my hair, and did not want to let go! I ended up fixing it myself about a month later by using Overtone's brown shade, and it covered over the orange and gave me a natural hair color: th-cam.com/video/-l5aLNx7NqI/w-d-xo.html
But! Over time and regular hair washing, the Overtone brown faded away and I was left again with the remnants of a faded Flaming Cheeto orange. This color was so intense and has long lasting effects on bleach blonde hair.
