When I was listening to this song, my mum was in a coma on life support. We were told she wasn't going to pull through and we sat with her every day singing to her. I remember telling her it was ok for her to leave, that she didnt have to be strong and stay and fight for us. The words of this song took a whole new meaning. I listened to it on repeat in my headphones while walking around the hospital grounds, taking a break from being beside her bed. Listening to it now brings back all the pain of that experience. My mum is an alcoholic so the pain was more than her being at the end of her life, it was all the pain that went with watching her destroy herself against her will. My mum is in recovery now and the doctors told us it was actually a miracle she survived. I come back and listen to this song every now and again and although it hurts being reminded of such a painful time it always heals me a little too.
Treasure your parents and family. I have a similar story, but mine did not have the ending / continuation of yours. I lost my Mum and songs remind me of the hard times, but I try to remember to good times to pull me through. Stay strong all.

I've worked with one of the best vocal coaches in the UK who has worked with the best in the world and they are all largely in agreement that Leona Lewis has the best singing ability in the world. She is technically superior to all her counterparts. Apparently she is beyond talented with how she projects and controls her voice. Shame we don't see as much of her these days.

My friend a musician, saw her in concert and there was a part of the stage that extended into the seating and he was right in front of her and he was close enough to hear her unmiked voice and said hands down its the best female vocal he has ever heard.
To this day, no one has sung it as beautifully as *Leona Lewis;* the soft & hauntingly beautiful vocals in the beginning, to the intricate transitions between chest & head voice, to her pacing out her vibrato to the instruments whilst sustaining the note to that agile run that leads to a C#6 at the end. ✨ Just came from watching *Glennis's* rendition; her great talent is undeniable, though 👏
I dont agree with you, besides the fact that Glennis had a lot less time to sing her song then Leona. Glennis makes the song much more powerful and with higher pace. Leona has so much breathing time inbetween the notes she sings, while Glennis basicly couldnt breath in normally a single time in the last minute. Also theres much more emotions and feelings in Glennis voice, i got goosebumps since the first second, which i didnt get here. I like Leona's shifting a lot tho. Leona has an angelic voice (a little too clingy for my taste but she has amazing talent) but I must say, GG, the soulfull powerhouse, blowed me away with this song. She didn't need a choir, she was the choir all by herself. Those belted notes were so colourfull. The way GG sang this song was realy uplifting.
Nope not really! GG sang it amazingly true but glennis is a pure belter only and she sounds very generic in tone comapred to leona! Glennis only has the mid loud chesty belting thing going for her and that makes her less unique sounding and also gives her less control of other registers whihc makes her belting all the time get kind of boring! Theres no journey in glennis voice! Its just straightforward belting while leona starts low and builds up like no other singer can takes you through a journey with all those intricate thaunting vocals! And by the way I personnaly prefer leonas belting! Its more resonant, rounder, fuller and smooth as butter and very balanced while glennis has a very chesty loud belting that has a little of scratchiness and airiness to it. Leonas belting sounds so free and like she is singing in a long hallway making her belting always sound so perfectly round sounding and zero distortion! And at the bridge of the song where leona goe off, is something that glennis lacked in her performance!

The greatest singer in the world, ever. Literally, she has blown me away for over 5 years. How anyone could disagree puzzles me lol. Her vocal range is unbelievable and she is the only singer to bring tears to my eyes every single time when she performs beautifully written songs such as this. This brings back memories :)
I wouldn't say the greatest singer ever, she is of very high quality standard that's for sure. But we had a female singer in a little band here in Australia a few years ago and sadly enough she passed away only a few months ago in her 80's and could still sound like she did in the 60's, the group were called The Seekers and her name was Judith Durham and she did have a voice of an angel.
That was without a doubt one of the greatest vocal performances ever. Leona Lewis is one of the greatest vocalist of all time. This woman is absolutely amazing and she doesn't seem to know it. And her volume control is unbelievable. A gifted vocalist, her sound in the 2000’s was unmatched, she combined all the best parts of Whitney, Celine and Mariah into one and made it her own, so rare to find a singer that can really, and I mean really stack up against the greats. Only one of those three are better the Leona and that's Celine the other two were screamers not singers like Leona and Celine they are both singers. Good singers only come along once and a while these days ,people of today think because everyone screams that it is singing , well it's not at all singers that don't need to scream like Leona, Celine, Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark etc etc of that era can be called singers not screamers.

A few of my thoughts on the 3 great female vocalists to come from the UK in the past 3 years- Adele, Amy Winehouse and Leona Adele soothes you with her voice and then touches an untapped corner of your heart, Amy sends you into a hypnotic trance, where its just you and her voice Leona is able to create moments within songs, which just make you want to stand up and applaud.
Man, I have to say, being one who is a self taught musician who learned by ear, this is most likely the most brilliant live vocal performance I've ever heard. Never fails to give me chills.
It's been years I haven't heard this song or seen this spectacular performance but just like the first time, I was amazed at how perfectly she delivered it, with a constant crescendo, as opposed to many singers who start belting out even before the first chorus comes up. That's just not true. People buy music that they hear and like! A piece of music can be the best on the planet, but if it's not promoted right and because of that doesn't get played much, not many people are going to hear it and be in a position to decide if they want to buy it. Leona has created plenty of great tracks that are on her studio albums, and that have even been unreleased but leaked onto the Net, in fact, enough great material to put her up there with the likes of Beyonce and Rhiana in terms of fame, but things all started going downhill with her record sales because of crap promotion of her 2nd Album, and the messed up release of the singles, such as "Happy" (just Google - Songfacts Leona Lewis Happy - and read the last paragraph).
Do you seriously think someone as talented, and successful as she was with her first single and Album deserved to suddenly drop out of the spotlight like she did???
Her humility is as attractive as her physical beauty and her voice and her passion. I truly hope she has stayed humble through the years and is still the sweet gentle person she was when she was young.
My friend a musician, saw her in concert and there was a part of the stage that extended into the seating and he was right in front of her and he was close enough to hear her unmiked voice and said hands down its the best female vocal he has ever heard.
I love how she sings soo damn loud then once the song finishes shes soo sweet and quiet. Insanely gorgeous also!!

To this day, no one has sung it as beautifully as *Leona Lewis;* the soft & hauntingly beautiful vocals in the beginning, to the intricate transitions between chest & head voice, to her pacing out her vibrato to the instruments whilst sustaining the note to that agile run that leads to a C#6 at the end. ✨
Just came from watching *Glennis's* rendition; her great talent is undeniable, though 👏
I dont agree with you, besides the fact that Glennis had a lot less time to sing her song then Leona. Glennis makes the song much more powerful and with higher pace. Leona has so much breathing time inbetween the notes she sings, while Glennis basicly couldnt breath in normally a single time in the last minute. Also theres much more emotions and feelings in Glennis voice, i got goosebumps since the first second, which i didnt get here. I like Leona's shifting a lot tho. But i think theyre both amazing and sing in a different style. I prefer Glennis tho, she just sang amazing.

Leona has an angelic voice (a little too clingy for my taste but she has amazing talent) but I must say, GG, the soulfull powerhouse, blowed me away with this song. She didn't need a choir, she was the choir all by herself. Those belted notes were so colourfull. The way GG sang this song was realy uplifting.
Nope not really! GG sang it amazingly true but glennis is a pure belter only and she sounds very generic in tone comapred to leona! Glennis only has the mid loud chesty belting thing going for her and that makes her less unique sounding and also gives her less control of other registers whihc makes her belting all the time get kind of boring! Theres no journey in glennis voice! Its just straightforward belting while leona starts low and builds up like no other singer can takes you through a journey with all those intricate thaunting vocals! And by the way I personnaly prefer leonas belting! Its more resonant, rounder, fuller and smooth as butter and very balanced while glennis has a very chesty loud belting that has a little of scratchiness and airiness to it. Leonas belting sounds so free and like she is singing in a long hallway making her belting always sound so perfectly round sounding and zero distortion! And at the bridge of the song where leona goe off, is something that glennis lacked in her performance!

Someone already said it in the comments but she might have the best voice of any winner of a singing competition ever. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are vocal titans but for her to deliver a performance like this not even two years into a professional career? Come on. The power, the control, the tone, the intimacy and dynamics, she's insane. She's one of the few singers we've had that gives proper homage to Mariah and Whitney in their primes.

The greatest singer in the world, ever. Literally, she has blown me away for over 5 years. How anyone could disagree puzzles me lol. Her vocal range is unbelievable and she is the only singer to bring tears to my eyes every single time when she performs beautifully written songs such as this. This brings back memories :)

I wouldn't say the greatest singer ever, she is of very high quality standard that's for sure. But we had a female singer in a little band here in Australia a few years ago and sadly enough she passed away only a few months ago in her 80's and could still sound like she did in the 60's, the group were called The Seekers and her name was Judith Durham and she did have a voice of an angel.

That was without a doubt one of the greatest vocal performances ever. Leona Lewis is one of the greatest vocalist of all time. This woman is absolutely amazing and she doesn't seem to know it. She is one of the most humble superstars I've ever seen or heard. We're waiting for more music Leona, the world needs more genuine singers and vocalists like this young woman.
