      still coca cola is super strong company. look at their earnings and dividend payout. most of the world drink it.
      him being supportive of it doesnt mean its weak and he is trying to make it famous. Coca cola is huge. bigger than Apple and Microsoft

      The Mountain I agree with you, CocaCola is a strong company. But people should be aware of other people's bias and self interest. Sugary drinks consumption has shrunk significantly and will continue to, but CocaCola is fairly well diversified.
      Individuals need to be able to think for themselves, most people [only] try to mirror other people. And as history shows, these people will [eventually] end up broken.

The most complicated thing to do in life is to keep things simple, once you learn how to do that, how to keep it simple, you can far in life, and not just in investing.

    • @CodyCannon11
      @CodyCannon11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So could most people if they reinvest their dividends.
      You would be surprised how little it would take.
      $30,000 investment over 40 years reinvesting a 3% dividend with 7% growth each year (a normal regular growth) and after 40 years with no other money added, you would be worth about 1.9 million dollars. 3% dividend of that and boom you are making $40,000 a year. (More than enough to live off of, especially if you have paid off your house).
      I'm not saying everybody has $30k to start (I sure didnt), but that is just an example. That is also not adding another dollar of your own money and being consistent with never taking the money out. Most people don't have the patience.
      Start with what you can invest, be smart about it, consistent and be patient, before long you would have millions in the stock market (with smart conservative investments) and you could easily have more than $40,000 a year in dividends at 3%.

    The reason he'd never sell a share is because of two words - capital gains. Berkshire would owe roughly 35% on the 8 billion dollars that the stock has appreciated since they acquired it those years ago. So rather than do that they string out the investment forever and hence never have to pay a dime in capital gains tax.

      @OceanSprayX 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      John Smith Lol, you are completely misinformed. 1) it is not 35%, do your research. 2) capital gains isn't the reason why. The reason is because Coca-Cola is a valuable brand. It is consumed globally and has not stopped losing market share. value investors are LONG TERM investors. Meaning, they keep and watch it grow. What does stringing out an investment forever do for a company? At a time, it will have to sell. Do your research before posting garbage.

      @Jan Norris, at 25 P/E Ratio it is a bit too expensive compared to its value. There is also the factor that coke has become too large. Less than 10 years ago the fall of Lehman Brothers (167 year old company) showed the world that a great company with a great brand still faces mortality like the rest of us. For Buffett, yes, its a good investment since he got in so early, for the young adults who still have a minimum of 50 years in front of him, my opinion is no.
