Had to check and unfortunately Clarke’s Charcoal Burger was another victim of da bat bug - closed in March 2020 after 75 years. Always sad to hear a place that lasted that long went out of business even when it isn't near you.

I'm not even a Californian and it's nostalgia to me growing up here in North Carolina. Starting back around '80 we had KTVU 2 and a SoCal channel (can't remember) in our cable-tv line-up that I watched all the time.
1:01 So many restaurants were trying to be "above" the burger in the 80s. Restaurants that have since returned to the burger standard.
I gotta hand it to 1980s innovation, though. We were trying new things.
I just realized that Robert Rustler was in that Milk commercial at 3.05 lol

Yes, it was. They started doing that campaign and serving super size fries in the mid 80s. I should know I was an 80s kid.
Then the movie SUPERSIZE ME ended it.

Thank God I grew up in the 80s I can remember being depressed because the things I was going through because both my parents dying before I reached my 20s but sometimes I would just turn on the TV for noise & the commercials were so uplifting with the jingles and put me in a good mood and it made me want to leave my house because it was Tough just getting out of bed y’all gotta be serious … I don’t know how people today deal with depression because when you turn on the TV all you see is commercials about sick people or fat people dancing around….ITS NOT A GOOD LOOK
