A lagotto needs to look rustic, not like a poodle. The head and especially the eyes and the stop should not be cut out like this. Nice haircut, but not the perfect Lagotto, as the clip's title says ;)

Sorry, this is a Bichon cut on a Lagotto dog. The Lagotto head is trimmed very differently for the Lagotto, and curl is reset into the coat after the trim by wetting the coat, and airdried to regain the curl. You have great scissoring skills but not the proper approach for this breed. Please review the proper Lagotto grooming technique. Thank you!

its a nice interpretation of your version of a Lagotto Groom. I can see the clickbait angry comments... I don't disagree with them lol. The finished "Poof" coat and Head is not quite a breed standard to a Lagotto... You'll need to wet that hair once more and let it damp dry to get the tight curls back ;-)... Regardless, its a nice cut using nice techniques.... just the on the wrong Breed of dog ;-)

This dog looks like my Chałka's (pronounciation: Howkah) sweet little girl long lost cousin. Yeah, it's not really "lagotto haircut", but it's "OMG so adorable, can I pet him" haircut and it works just fine :P
Lagottos should not be brushed when dry, nor are they to be blown out. They're a rustic coated breed. I really strongly suggest looking up proper care for this coat before you ruin it! It's a beautiful groom, just not correct for this breed.

@@TheMikesylv There IS such thing as correct, it's called the breed standard. If it's a pet, they should've gotten a different breed that is to be groomed in this manner- poodle, bichon, etc. You can't claim something is "perfect" when it goes against everything in their breed standard.

@@TheMikesylv Lol show dogs are pets as well. This isn't a common breed, they specifically searched out this rustic coated breed then go against the proper care of it to look a certain way for THEM. Wouldn't that be the ego fulfillment here?

This is not a difficult observation you don’t have to be mental giant to understand that all she is saying it’s a perfect cut for your pet so he can go play in the dirt and you can then give him a fucking bath. You should take your own advice I watched the video the lady specifically said it’s ok to have any length small Mats big mats it’s all in what you feel like dealing with so if your not showing the dog there’s no such thing as “correct “ so lighten up life is to short
@@TheMikesylv Some feel the need to defend others… and you are free to have your own opinions, but as a Lagotto breeder and enthusiast I totally get that there are different preferences for how this breed of dog is groomed, however if someone is going to use the title this video does claiming ‘This is PERFECT Lagotto Romagnolo Haircut’ then I’m afraid they are misinformed and misleading people as how this dog ends up is nothing like a Lagotto should look. As someone who cares about the reputation of this stunning breed I think it only fair to flag the false title of this video and balance the narrative. This is a lagotto not a bishon! The Grooming from the lagotto is not correct and defenetly Not Perfect! Sorry but a lagotto have Beautiful Curly hair, and no one would Shafe the noseend! The back have to be straight and the Brust bigger than the throat this is shorter. The ears have to fall into the Head. So there is a lot of Space to a Perfect lagotto! Try again!

High maintenance cut will only last ten minutes then it will go back again to curly. Lagotto-- better let them have the curly hair. Carefree dog with care-free style.
Just had one of these in my shop today. Was looking up videos for help on it. If I'd used this video, I would have been cussed out by the owner. It's a beautiful cut, but you should change the title of your video. It's misleading and could get other groomers looking for help into some trouble.

NEVER pluck a lagotto ear🤬
Why?
Because it will irritate and inflame the inner ear. They are a water hunting gun dog that's why they have webbed feet and hairy ears to keep out water whilst working. Use Thornit to keep the ears dry and work the plug out gradually and cut off as it appears at the ear opening. Plucking will subject them to a lifetime of ear infections
Hello. I've watched a lot of different videos from Lagotto breeders and read various forums. Are you sure about not plucking the hairs? I read that not all at once, but a bit like that. Do you have a Lagotto? How do you take care of its ears? I am a groomer and have a client with a puppy. The breeder recommended plucking all the hairs. I live in Germany. Greetings
@sylwiaklencz6404 we have a Lagotto with ear issues and here in Australia we do not pluck. Instead we use thornit and gently coax the hair plug out when it comes to the surface.
