Three cheers for Brian and his “little adventures!” Your trips are interesting and fun, just pure pleasure. Thank you for your vlogs and your good common sense. “Be kind to yourself and then you’ll be kind to others” are important words to live by. Good health, good friends and good food to you, Brian…you are a joy.
Happy New Year Sir! I envy your life in France. Far away from our continuing insanity here in America? I look forward to your and Dan’s channel for the brief respite they deliver!😂 stay safe and well. 🤙🏻
I just got back from camping in the Smokey Mountains, and couldn’t find any of this supposed “insanity here in America” at all. Maybe you are in the wrong place.
Great setup Brian….. Have you thought about buying a cheap pool noodle and cutting two bits about 30cm long and slicing halfway through to put over the open van doors in the tent to protect the tent from ripping or holes from the top corners? Cheap portable fix ?
Reminds me of when uni friends and I hired a car to go look at the Loire châteaux and just found ourselves a room wherever we ended up. Well somewhere in the middle we hadn't found anywhere to sleep for the night (this was before you could just look stuff up on the Internet), we were in a pub and it was dark by this time, so we asked a bloke at the next table if he knew anywhere we could stop. He said hold on, went away and made a phone call, came back, said, whenever you want to go, follow me. So he got in his car, we got in ours, and went off, in the dark, no idea where we were going. So we ended up in a very nice place, although it was closed for business for the year, the owner put a load of single mattresses on the floor of one room. She said do you want breakfast, we said yes please. In the morning she gave us a fantastic spread, and when we were ready to go, would only take the cost of the room. We wanted to give her more, but she wouldn't take it. So yes, it's good to have an adventure (especially when it works out right)
Wouldn't do it any other way.. lake, fire, wine, camper van! I live across the world in Canada and you're really no different than I am.. that always blows my mind...except for that accent of yours you're a Canadian boy! Happy new year!
Kia Ora, Brian, from the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand (only 18813km from Mont d’Or to my home 😂). Wishing you the very best for the New Year 🎉 - and to say a huge thank you for showing me rural France
heavens, i'll second that Linda - all of it ! - am also in south island, in christchurch NZ :)) watching stefanie's chateau diaries during the plague lockdowns eventually led to dan's jaw-dropping DIY, and now a joker with an irish accent (and sounds just like the depot manager at work noel ryan) who cruises around in what seems the most beautiful areas of rural france whenever he gets the chance.. All the best to you Brian & Pascal
This was great Brian. Thanks so much, We discover rural France and more so how as a nation they seem to naturally seek a sense of beauty and order in all they do. food, kiosks, etc . But I was reassured to see when you are gluttoned out of beauty, you recline and watch a screen like all of us. Still😍 you remain my favorite wandering philosopher. To Us all, let us make 2025 a year of sanity😇 Brian-style!
Thanks Brian I love hanging out with you, love the little towns you go through and your music, happy new years to you stay safe and thanks for you're great advice
Beautiful choice of music.....really enjoyed it. Nice camp set up, with a great lake. I long for peace and quiet.....thanks for sharing a piece of yours. 😊
Mont d'Or is most famous for the cheese! There is nothing, nothing like a round of Mont d'or cheese in its wooden packaging studded with garlic cloves and covered with white wine - put in oven until soft and bubbling and eat out of the box with fresh french bread.... delicious. Only available in the winter.
Oh, my taste buds want this cheese now. Love European cheese! We don't have very much cheese like you have there. Always enjoy my cheeses when I travel to Germany. Mmm
now THAT is van camping at its best! absolutely well done brian and pascal 😁🎉🎉 what lovely views and great brivlog as usual 😁😁😁 cheers brian (and pascal) 🍻🍻, adventure well
Thanks for taking us along for the break. The lakeside camping spot and Mont D'or look ideal. I'll be working on small changes in the New Year. (Hoping they'll "add up.") All the best for 2025.
Awesome camping setup! And I love the idea of a New Weeks Resolution. So much more practical and achievable. So much can change over the course of a year.
I thoroughly enjoyed joining you vicariously on your wee adventure, Brian. You're a beautiful kind soul. Love, Jacqueline from all the way over in New Zealand.
If l’Élysée Palace isn’t subsidizing your rural jaunts … then… perhaps they should consider it. 😂 The French tourism industry could learn a thing or two from our friend Brian. Happy Holidays and a magnificent New Year to this chap’s Life in Rural France and to everyone. 🎄🌟✨💥😉🇨🇦
The thing about encouraging tourism, they want to encourage tourists who will spend money, preferably quite a bit of money. There is very little benefit to communities from inexpensive tourists and campers who spend very little, so naturally they would not be spending money to encourage very low-cost tourism. A bit sad for travellers but you can understand their point of view. 🇦🇺🎄
@ I most certainly do understand that point of view. Makes total sense. I suppose that I was thinking about city dwellers who would rent accommodations and spend time/money in quieter areas of any country. But yeah… when folks think of going to France , they think of Paris or the French Riviera. Great point 👍
Seriously... I think this is one of the best vlogs yet! Love how happy you were with your camping set up - very relaxed and cozy sitting back in your camp chair! Did you enjoy one of the thermal spas? Seems a shame to miss out on that! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Brian! We truly enjoyed your video of traipsing around Rural France and we're glad your camping setup is working out nicely. Beautiful scenery and the lake was so pretty and calm. Thanks for sharing!
Great Camping set up Brian, such a pretty area too. Looks like you woke to a frosty landscape, so your heater would have been a godsend!! Your New Year advice is sound too, the world needs a little kindness. Take care and enjoy the rest of your holiday. 💚
Life balance - one night winter camping and one night in a spa town. I agree with you Brian, we should be kind to ourselves, and others. Often times we are harder on ourselves than anyone else.
You are practically "glamping" now, rugs too. That lake looked like glass, so beautiful, a perfect spot to relax. I don't do resolutions for New Years either but your words brought to mind Max Ehrmann's Desidrada. His words speak to my soul and holds a dear spot in my heart as I owned one of his brother's homes. As I researched the home I discovered Max and his 3 brothers all lived there at one time and I went down the rabbit hole of Max's writings. Thank you for the lovely adventure and scenery!
@christikapa3856 Thank you, I discovered that it meant a lot to many others as well. I painted the Desidrada along the top of my favorite room which I believe to be a ballroom. It was flooded with light and I found it to be the most inspiring room to create in.
that was a fun adventure and you’re right you do have lots of cool options in rural France. Thanks for sharing your camping trip. Have a very happy New Year Brian and we’ll see you in 2025.
I love off season travel because only locals around. No crowds. So this was very relaxing to watch. Perfect day, because everyone gone from here and I'm chilling. Perfect match.
Your little Pascal camping adventure set up is just brillant🎉. Happy New Year Brian and look forward to following your adventures and living your good words of advice for 2025. Best wishes to you.
Did you forget your air matras again Brian? I hope not! I remembered the time that i was camping in the snow in the Ardennen in Belgium. We went there on our motorbikes and camped in the snow in little tents without heating! It was.... cold. But I will never forget it! Loved your little adventure and i wish you a very happy and healthy 2025!💋
well Brian, I would say you found a lovely one bedroom apartment at Pascal's. Although I haven't figured out where your bed is, I'm guessing it's next to the kitchen sink. Pretty good! And thank you for the good advice for the new year, to be kind to yourself; ))
63 likes & 63 viewing 👍🏻 I was happy to see Brian is sharing another vlog before the end of year! Enjoyed your adventure today & having a glass of wine 🍷 with you & American football 🏈 games all weekend too! Hello 👋🏻 from Alhambra Southern California 🌴
Another wonderful video Brian, thank you. I cannot get over how light it was where you camped, I was saying to my son earlier today at how dark it is this year, by 4pm it is pitch black and it isn't getting light until nearly 7.30am. I am so glad your new camping set up worked for you, I cannot think of anything worse than camping in the winter but you definitely made it look more comfortable than I thought. If you do not put up another video this year I would like to wish you a very Happy New year I hope 2025 bring you everything you would want it to and I thank you for your brilliant content. Love from Kent xx❤
Oh Brian, that was lovely! Thank you for sharing! So happy you had a nice time and everything worked for you! It looked so peaceful! I agree with your philosophies, especially the new year, holidays, etc, I believe in making or trying to make each day/moment special! Wishing you safe travels and a happy 2025, I think starting this channel has been good for you and was meant to be! I know I enjoy it! ☮️🚐🍾🎉🌳⛺️
Happy New Year! My birthday is Saturday, so I make birthday resolutions. This year I am going to get back on my feet after this past year of knocking me flat with disasters...large and small. I love your little camping setup. I have not had alone time in 4 years.
Happy New Year! I love the old towns and their stone building they look comforting, a hot spa, sounds mighty tempting to these old bones right about now. I wish you all the best in the new year and may your days be filled with good memories!
Thank you Brian. This entire vlog is like a preview to my upcoming trip to France. 2 weeks of planned itineraries with my daughter, followed by 2 weeks on my own, nothing planned, just getting lost, exploring quaint villages, finding peaceful lakes and hopefully some paddle boarding. Can't wait!
It's no wonder France never gets anything done it's always closed. My vote is maddness. My idea f winter is sitting in front of a fireplace with a drink in my hand. Your tenty thing turned out nicely. Looks very cosy. In case I miss you have a Great new year.
Happy new year to you Brian, I hope it’s a great year for you and your loved ones. I do enjoy your posts and your tips! You’d make a grand friend for sure
Brian you are incredible. Love your decision to go on a 2 day adventure and take us with you. Thank you!! Pascal tent setup is brilliant. So glad you packed everything including wine. Happy New Year and looking forward to many more of your fabulous vlogs in 2025. You are very much appreciated 🤩😘 Hugs Helen, East Gippsland Australia
Great advice for the new year! Thanks for taking us along to another couple areas of France! The chapel windows looked beautiful with the sun shining through! Happy New Year!
Smashing advice. Be kind to yourself so you can be kind to others. I know why the universe needed you to start a vlog…❤
Love that advice too. "A new week's resolution". Great filming and thanks for showing us around. Wonderful set-up for your camping - very impressed.

Happy New Year Sir! I envy your life in France. Far away from our continuing insanity here in America? I look forward to your and Dan’s channel for the brief respite they deliver!😂 stay safe and well. 🤙🏻
I was hoping Brian needed an indentured servant from America…
Pick me! Pick me!
@@Julie-bq6izlol two for one! - I’ll clean. I hope you can cook (I can’t) 😂
Seriously I dream of living in the French countryside 😊
I just got back from camping in the Smokey Mountains, and couldn’t find any of this supposed “insanity here in America” at all. Maybe you are in the wrong place.
Brian, you are a natural therapist. I always feel relaxed and content after watching yur videos. Thank you.
your right! 🎉🎉🎉
Being single helps 😂
Great setup Brian….. Have you thought about buying a cheap pool noodle and cutting two bits about 30cm long and slicing halfway through to put over the open van doors in the tent to protect the tent from ripping or holes from the top corners? Cheap portable fix ?
There's so much you can do with a pool noodle 😌
@@LaReynedeNeigeindeed you can!
I noticed the door touching the tent as well. Good idea with the pool noodle.
These were my thoughts exactly!
I thought similar with a bit of soft rubber hose... or even an old tshirt .. some sort of protection for the tent.
Reminds me of when uni friends and I hired a car to go look at the Loire châteaux and just found ourselves a room wherever we ended up. You should start your steak when your rice is done, not the other way round 😀 From a French chef, with love
That’s what’s so good about France. It closes down. Life has to stop. We all need a bit of that! Bliss!
I know. Who needs shops open 24/7? Life is too short for that.
Wouldn't do it any other way.. lake, fire, wine, camper van! I live across the world in Canada and you're really no different than I am.. that always blows my mind...except for that accent of yours you're a Canadian boy! Happy new year!
I feel the same way. I am from the East Coast of Canada and it amazes me how simple our life style is.
Brian & Dan together remind me alot of my brother. We joke around a lot by phone, he's on the east coast & I'm in the Yukon.
Really did enjoy your little trip Brian. Beautiful scenery and you hooked up pascal to be a nice cozy place to stay. Happy New Year to you!
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures! It was a lovely getaway and quiet spaces with bird song is very good for the soul.
Beautiful scenery, "luxury" camping and a lovely town. Great adventure Brian

You need some good cheese to have with your wine. It's stinking hot here in Surfers, I fancy some cheese and a cold wine to have tonight.
