I’ve got one of those from the early 70’s. It is in a rusty old tin box. Your bags are much better. I might just get it out and fire it up. My climbing mate had a gas stove and I used to beat him to a good boil from a cold start.

I believe mine is from that time period. Mine came with the tin box as well, I just thought it seemed a little clunky to carry in the pack, so I made up some waxed canvas bags for the stove. I keep all my spare seals, NRV tool and jet cleaning needles in the tin. They're fantastic stoves! Enjoy firing it up again! Thanks for watching - Hayden

@@autumnkraftdo you use any use any small cooking pans for it you'd recommend?

@@watosmate8935 the 12cm Zebra billy can fits perfectly, so any bushpot that size and bigger fits perfect. I've used a vast amount of cast iron on it too, skillets, griddles and even a petromax ft3 Dutch oven. These stoves can hold a surprising amount of weight. You can't go wrong with any container as long it fits okay on the three legs. Thanks for watching! - Hayden

@@watosmate8935 it's the Lodge 6.5" wildlife series skillet. It's got a lovely wolf design on the back. They do offer it as a plain skillet as well obviously. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

I bought mine in 1978 and I still use it today. Fantastic piece of kit, easy to maintain and very good at what it was designed for.

I bought my one in 74 and sold it. Fortunately I found an even older one in the blue tin. Possibly 60 years old. Still works fine.
I use premium diesel and a cigar shaped hip flask with a fibreglass wick for priming.
Meths and parrafin are too expensive for me.
      They really are beautiful things
