Its Friday, it's late November , theres 2 Georgians hiking in the woods in the dark so they can have a coffee. They bring along a portable, collapsible, convertible shelter ( who's design was sparked by a legendary Canadian)so they can have one now and rest comfortably then have another in the morning( they dont show it but I'm betting they also have some grits, bacon, and or corn bread mix too). To some its absurd, to the rest of us it's another fabulous Friday with Dave and Nick. Great looking design, I think a tweak might be to have the sides permanently attached keeping the Baker Tent design. It will allow the plastic front to be attached and be relatively protected and allow more height inside so there are no hunchback issues. I know Nick prefers a shelter with a floor, but the enviroment you need a super shelter in isnt high season for mosquitoes, gnats, or spiders. Thanks Boys, I needed a campfire chat 😎, appreciate the invitation. PS if you split the load a bit , I bet you could incorporate this unit with your portable windbreak/ fire reflector that you sewed up a couple years ago.
Thanks for the introduction! Lol. Good suggestions for the shelter and I agree on using that fire wall reflector with this. Take care and thanks for watching Tyler!

Good to see that Alice Bow Saw pack again. I love the concept of using gear for multiple purposes, like a saw for a frame. I'd definitely enjoy seeing some more concepts like this if you can think of any. I've been experimenting with folding chairs for frames, foam mats for padding and ponchos for bivi bags/bed rolls. I've found that if you balance these ideas right with your set up it can save a lot of weight and also make the ruck more comfortable to carry, but it takes a bit of planning and testing.
Im glad you liked it! Throughout the years Ive put a lot of them multi use items in the videos. Whats bad is the bulk of them have appeared on video only once so they get lost in the mix and rarely seen again. I may have to put some thought into a video showing all multi use items. Hey Guys. I've been patiently waiting for another video. I like your shelter, but if you made it longer, you could raise the back a bit so that you're not forced to sit forward like Nick was. I think the added weight would be worth it. Have you used your home-made sleeping pad lately? I loved that video. I've not been able to find the foam material that you used. But that was such an awesome project. I've found that by hanging a Coleman lantern above my camp, the light won't be in my eyes. It would work well for your camera light. I like your bowsaw frame. Another brilliant Dave idea. Keep up the good work you two and I'm looking forward to the next video.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all! I actually have two other homemade reflective tarps that I could use over head with this. That foam I used on that pad can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot, it's meant as the padding under laminated wood flooring. Take care and thanks for watching
I love seeing you re-use your inventions while on the quest to the next one. You definitely should market some of them! Ideas for the tips: Velcro strips, tons of loops, bungee cords, stretch material... You could also integrate this with a cot modified as a bicycle trailer and have the full super shelter on wheels (am I having some sort of déjà-vu??)
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I'd have to have some serious investors before I'd ever market anything. Oh, I do seem to recall a bicycle trailer similar to that! Thanks for the suggestions and thanks for watching
Hi Dave, I hope you, Nick, and all of your loved ones had a wonderful Thanksgiving! That is a great shelter and I especially enjoyed the nighttime part of this video! A very relaxing ending with a dash of spooky in the pitch black with the full moon peeking through the trees. Loved it! Dave's Don't Die In The Woods Shelter with plenty of disclaimers. LOL
Hello Beverly! We had a good Thanksgiving, I hope yours was happy. I'm glad you liked the shelter and the spooky moonlight. I still hate filming in the dark. Lol, take care and thanks for watching my friend!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Nick. Great idea!! And it was nice for us to see what you go through when designing a new project. All the options, possibilities and modifications. We also see the difficulties you deal with while filming. Can't wait to see the next video.
I'm glad you liked it Mark! I figured if I cant decide on details Ill just let TH-cam decide! Thanks for watching and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving too Brother
David, when you see an upright rotted standing tree, observe it for bees especially around the base and up about two feet. Those trees are often homes for honeybees, meaning, wild honey and bees that will chase you for up to an hour. That is how long they stay angry. They will give chase up to a quarter of a mile, generally. Africanized bees are far worse and will chase you far longer. If you run into a tree that has honey local beekeeper can retrieve it for you while he attempts to capture the queen. You could start a smoky fire close to the tree making certain the prevailing winds and breezes smoke the tree. The bees will become more docile and you might be able to remove the honey sac yourself. I always watch trees of that nature and generally leave them alone until after camping, then I observe , then I push the tree until it breaks as close to the base as possible. If there are bees and or honey, I call a beekeeper and he will do what is necessary. Usually there is pounds of honey in those spots. I like it when bees are in the vicinity because an animal creeping at night could do something to get the bees riled up and he will make noises or run off from the bees. I don't camp right up on them, I give them their space but I make sure my site is safe from rotted trees and overhead limbs that are caught up in branches. I also look for dead branches still attached to the trees. I am sure you know the drill. All it takes is one little wild snipe to run straight up the tree and cause a dead limb to break away from the tree and he won't holler " heads up " ! Later ! Oh by the way this video was great in terms of innovation !
Love the shelter. What if you used Velcro on the edges of the tarp, then put the other side on the end pieces so you could put them anywhere along the edge? Just a thought. Thanks for letting us in on your adventures.
THANKS for a great suggestion! I picked up on the welding blanket/Reflex idea from Real Big Monkey's earlier videos and made my own copy. With YOUR Velcro hack, we don't need to commit to one position or another for the sides. I would line those panels with Reflex as well. Anyone taking this kit isn't going to be hiking far in. NEXT, we need to find a work-around for shaping the sides to work with different tarp slopes. Maybe Velcro again? We could work the Velcro to vary the edge slopes, rolling any excess up and fastening it out of the way as necessary.
Excellent as always and happy Thanksgiving! I like the flexibility you have with the detached panels. What if you sewed in some toggles to slip through your loops to give you a more solid attachment point yet still retaining attachment flexibility?
“6 pounds of paradise” reminded me of a Meatloaf song! Nice enhancement and adaptations to the Super shelter. “Super-shelter Mk 2”. Enjoyed watching. Good to see Dad and Son building more memories.
Inventive as always Dave. Did you make the floor insulated ? This would also make a great A-frame with floor shelter ( nice and cozy). I like the adaptability of loose side panels. If you make them fit one configuration they will be unsuited for others. 6lb is reasonable for a winter shelter system ( looks like a 3 season shelter ,autumn, winter, spring for at least the lower 48 states ). Surprised you did not include you insulated reflective ground sheet with this setup. You Need to get a gallon Stanley thermos of coffee for Nick ( make him carry it). Otherwise build fire first thing and make coffee, It seems to make him happy. He might even help clean the workshop for coffee. Looks like you could have used your fire reflector / wind screen too. With all three of those items you have invented , I dub it the Pearson Adaptable Shelter Systems. Hope you had great thanksgiving . I am looking forward to the Next One , LOL (your Vid also).
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I didn't insulate the floor, it's just double layered. I figured if it was insulated it would be way too bulky to fold. I do have my reflective pad I can add along with my fire wall and that other reflective tarp I made. I love that PASS name! Take care and thanks for watching
I love all your ingenuity in the field. You save my life! I adhered good quality Mylar blankets to the walls of my tent after watching your videos. I'm in Vermont subzero temps and Canadian snow ❄️ trying to live outside. I'm cancer patient & Navy Special Forces brat so I am staying outside for fun & saving money. I'm quite comfortable thanks to you & Nick making these videos. I'm going to make a video of my new shelter & camp next week during a winter storm bringing in record subzero temps. And do some cooking by a small fire to show you what I did. I'm using 3 moving blankets for my floor. Got tarp clips so I could hang wool blankets along the inside & outside of my tent for insulation.
that crashing around in the background was just Sasquatch. He heard you were talking about him on that show a few days back and just wanted to say hi 😝😜. Thanks Dave and God bless y’all 🙏✌️

hi dave and nick...clip that light on the camera and we'll see you fine...also just an idea for your sides...fold the part that you set wood on under..it would make another floor piece for your gear perhaps. and we heard you fine. thanks for sharing...i love your vids....you are so much fun when you experiment with gear.

Beautiful night for a camping trip! As for being dark...light pollution, wow one of my triggers. Hate it. Not too many places still exist in the US to see truly dark skies. Makes me miss being deep in the desert southwest in the Army in the 80's, no light from anywhere. The Milky Way, shooting stars...now it's street lights and motorcycle noise LOL.
Oh perfect night for camping! I'm pretty lucky, here in North Georgia there's plenty of forests that get pitch black all night long. Take care and thanks for watching

I purchased an 18" Lume Cube ring that i love! The main reason for the purchase is it's super light weight including the tri-pod And.....It comes with either electric cord or two batteries which is awesome!.....it would make your struggles filming at night totally go away( unless u forget to recharge the batteries)... they make smaller versions....i totally dig this one....and as usual i have a video review on it :)....thanks Dave and Nick.....u guys are the "A" team!.......
Personally i was shocked how nice the light was, and the batteries are the key, i can take it out in my canoe no problem......all adjustable brightness....even has a switch to go from white daylight light to warm light....it's a creators top notch tool.....your coffee looked good .......cheers!
Brother Dave, this is the shelter to go with in my opinion. Absolutely love it! I'd sew that skirt across both ends and if you don't need it just throw it over the top to get it out of the way. Love seeing Ole Nick out and about with you, he's a good camera man AND comedy relief lol. Thumbs up my Friend ~John

As common sense as it is, I never thought about adding panels to the sides. I always did the log side thing...Soooo much easier to clip on sides. Genius pure genius!!
Instead of sewing up the sides, I'd add zippers. Just a thought. Great setup though. You've given me some ideas. Thanks for sharing this great video!! 👍
@@Casper1907 ... Ikr! 👍... Didn't think about the velcro idea. That would work too, as long there's some kind of fabric covering over the zipper fixtures, or velcro fixtures. Something to keep any fixtures from the elements. 👍... great idea Casper

Thanks John! I'm glad you liked both of them
I love seeing you re-use your inventions while on the quest to the next one.
Looks like a nativity scene in the dark. 😊
It kinda does!
Great job on the night video sweet camp site can't wait to see you in the next one and Mors is the man
Thanks Donald, I'm glad you liked it. Man Mors is highly missed and always will be. Thanks for watching
Interesting ideas to think about and try it. Big cheers to Nick and chef Dave from Croatia ,always glad to see your new videos...
Thanks, We are glad you liked it. Cheers from the USA and Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing that info Peter! That's very valuable information!
Nick: Some bad memories………seen some stuff…..🤪🤣🤣 Great information as always.👍🏻 The one thumbs down, probably rides a unicycle with a flat tire.
Bad stories, bad memories! I'm glad you liked it. I never liked unicycles, lol. Thanks for watching
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Mick! I do like that idea, and I recently bought a 12 yard roll of velcro! Thanks for watching
@@jamesellsworth9673 Yep, velcroed ends opens up a whole new world of possible set ups!
Thanks for the adventure guys, always a pleasure!
You are very welcome and thanks for watching!
Excellent as always and happy Thanksgiving!
I like the flexibility you have with the detached panels. What if you sewed in some toggles to slip through your loops to give you a more solid attachment point yet still retaining attachment flexibility?
I'm glad you liked it
and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving too! Several mentioned zippers and velcro but toggles is a very good idea!
“6 pounds of paradise” reminded me of a Meatloaf song! Nice enhancement and adaptations to the Super shelter. “Super-shelter Mk 2”. Enjoyed watching. Good to see Dad and Son building more memories.
Lol! I remember that song from high school. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for watching!
Sounds fantastic! Definitely comment on one of my videos with the link once the video is up
cool concept, good job teaching Nick skills and making him tough.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Actually, I enjoy seeing how you set it up & change it for a new configuration...ALL is evolution....
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it
that crashing around in the background was just Sasquatch. He heard you were talking about him on that show a few days back and just wanted to say hi 😝😜. Thanks Dave and God bless y’all 🙏✌️
Lol! If it was I had my camera ready! Thanks for watching and may God bless you too
Dude, you are just like my crazy uncle! I loved him!!!!❤️
Lol, sounds good to me Anthony!
I think Mors would be happy with your adaptations. Great idea and a great video too. Wishing you all the very best .
Id love to think Mors would approve of this! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Thanks guys. Happy thanksgiving bye from Oregon
We are glad you liked it Richard.
Thanks for watching and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving too
Happy Thanksgiving Dave and Nick. Great video.
I'm glad you liked it Susan.
Thanks for watching and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving too
The reusable convertible shelter.
Thanks for taking us along.
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching Bill
Great idea with the bow saw, what I like or one of the things about your videos is you don't wast 5 minutes filming you walking past the camera, love your gadgets Dave atb Sam
Thanks Sam, I'm glad you liked it. I always hated them long intros with walking around and music and stuff. If I want that Ill watch music videos. Lol.Thanks for watching
That looks like an awesome shelter, I bet it gets super toasty with the plastic on. Thanks again Dave, take care mate 👍🙂
Thanks Mike, I'm glad you liked it. Even without the plastic it's very good about trapping heat! Take care and thanks for watching
Really enjoyed that video Dave great shelter. What about good ol Dave’s shelter. That’s what nick called you. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. LOL, often times Nick refers to me as dear ole Dave! Thanks for watching Michelle!
Dave, you and Nick are always fun to watch, thanks for taking us along .The things you come up with lol! Take care guys see you in your next video adventure!!!
Thanks Kenneth! I'm glad you liked it. Lol, there's no telling what we'll come up with next! Thanks for watching
Always always love your videos Dave. There is one problem, it's my problem, but I watch you two make and drink some amazing coffee, but this time it's at night. I couldn't help myself, but I made coffee too, and had coffee with you fellas (so to speak). Now I won't be able to sleep tonight. Oh well, I did it to myself. That's how influencing your videos are. My solute to you two. O7
Thanks Brother! Funny thing, caffeine has absolutely no effect on Nick or myself. Night or day, we can drink coffee like water. Lol. Take care and thanks for watching brother
I used to trim trees for the power company, and I was in the woods and it was so thick on a sunny day it, was still dark. I can imagine what it would look like at night. Thanks for the video.
Amazing how dark it gets under the forest canopy. Even with a full moon. Thanks for watching Michael
You got me with reusable super shelter. Best black Friday deal so far 👌
Lol, thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
Happy Belated 🦃 day Georgia Brother from another video. God bless you all and thanks for the video.
Thanks Brother and may God bless you too!
9:31 See Dave in a Sun Oven! LOL! Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷
Lol! Easy way to get a tan
@@Reallybigmonkey1, in Arizona 🌵, a lot of people use solar ovens to roast a chicken and bake bread. Hitting 350-400f is no problem. Solar dehydrators are great for making jerky and dried fruit for trail mix. With no cost (after building the box). 💖🌞😷🌵
hi dave and nick...clip that light on the camera and we'll see you fine...also just an idea for your sides...fold the part that you set wood on under..it would make another floor piece for your gear perhaps. and we heard you fine. thanks for sharing...i love your vids....you are so much fun when you experiment with gear.
Very good ideas! We are glad you like the videos so much, Thanks for watching AC
Whatever you end up calling it, I am really looking forward to seeing an over-nighter with the finished product. Preferably in a blizzard. 😜
Lol, blizzard's are rare in Georgia but we do get them every few years or so
Everything is dark...I can see you and Nick...Enjoy your son..
Thanks for watching Irene
i hope you and Nick had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I love you two.
Oh it was a fun one and We hope your Thanksgiving was a happy one too! Take care and thanks for watching Dianna!
I have been a fan for years now and am so glad that you keep sharing your love for the outdoors and your creations/modifications to gear. It is so nice that you can share the limelight with Nick. Much respect!
Thank you Duncan! I'm always happy to share and it's always fun to have Nick along! Take care and thanks for watching brother
Great video! As usual Dave and Nick ! ☕️ 🔥 ⛺️👍
Thanks! We are glad you liked it
You are so naturally intuitive!
Thanks Kj!
@@Reallybigmonkey1 hell yeah man! You've come up with some badass ideas!
Ann..
I had so much FUN
Spiders and snake!!! Funny memories 8🤣😂🤣🤔👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸 Blessed Thanksgiving 🦃🍗
Thanks for watching and a Happy belated Thanksgiving to you too!
Hello David!
That is a very clever way to carry a boy saw which otherwise would be so bulky & I like to keep my hands empty, to hold on to trees, etc.
Hello Steven and I'm glad you liked it! I've not seen any easier way of carrying a bow saw.
Thanks! Mr Dave and Mr Nick! Awesome as usual!
Lol found a new trick! Can send you video up to my tv. Then on my phone run your video and let the ads play then restart it and let the ads play again and again while I’m watching the vid on my tv… lol 😂
You are very welcome and I'm glad you liked it brother!
Now that's pretty cool!
Hey, you did the super shelter video! Nice
Ive been wanting to forever but never quite finished making the one I wanted. I finally did! Thanks for watching Brother Mike!
Man I've never heard of that. I'll definitely look it up. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching brother
Thanks John! I'm glad you liked it. Remember Ive also got them two fire wall reflectors I can use. Nick definitely makes this stuff more fun! Take care and Thanks for watching Brother!
As common sense as it is, I never thought about adding panels to the sides. I always did the log side thing...Soooo much easier to clip on sides. Genius pure genius!!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked that idea! Them log sides were always too much work for me! Thanks for watching
man, i loves this videos with you and nick.
Thanks! We are glad you like them!
Great shelter, great video. I can see the possibilities. Thanks for sharing. You and Nick take care.
Thanks Tressa, we are glad you liked it. It's definitely going to be versatile! Thanks for watching
@@Reallybigmonkey1 being versatile is important for sure
@@TressaZimmerman Absolutely!
Tie, wire, tape those Alice Clips is a good practice . Fun video Dave 👍
Very good tip! Thanks for watching Mikel
Instead of sewing up the sides, I'd add zippers. Just a thought. Great setup though. You've given me some ideas. Thanks for sharing this great video!! 👍
Zippers or industrial strength velcro
@@Casper1907 ... Ikr! 👍... Didn't think about the velcro idea. That would work too, as long there's some kind of fabric covering over the zipper fixtures, or velcro fixtures. Something to keep any fixtures from the elements. 👍... great idea Casper
Zippers would be nice but finding the right length may be tough. Velcro might be the way to go. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for watching Jamie
@@Reallybigmonkey1 thank you for sharing , yet another great video Dave. I always enjoy your footage. You have some of the best stuff out there! Be safe, happy holidays!
@@NavigatingwithNafe Thanks and Happy Holidays to you too Jamie!
Or you kidding this is some of the best lighting I'v seen
Thanks! It didn't look so good in the viewfinder during filming. Thanks for watching
That black vinyl appears to be weed guard used in flower beds to prevent weeds and grass. Good video.😊
Could be? I'm glad you liked it Sam, Thanks for watching
You always have great ideas I loved the one when you put foil all around you camp area to reflect the heat from your fire atvb jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Thanks Jimmy, I'm glad you liked it. That fire reflector wall would work perfectly with this set up!
Well done Dave...Happy Thanksgiving...
I'm glad you liked it Mark.
Thanks for watching and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving too
