Thank you from mentioning the reference from which the knowledge to produce fine marquetry was obtained. Very helpful. The Marquetry Manual, William A. Lincoln.
A beautiful story of the making of a special object. You are so talented! And I loved hearing a bit about the history of the Parsons' house and its connection to the founding of Northampton. Bravo Silas!
Kopf's is such inspiring work, museum quality that makes wood butcher-hobbyists like me wanna get somewhere closer to that level, or just say f--k it, and give up knowing it will never happen! I'll choose the former, content in knowing that the process itself, as Kopf so eloquently describes, is what matters most.
Sad that most young people will not try hand marquetry but rather slap something together using a laser cut. There is a big difference. The same difference (is this a double negative?)😋 between hand cut dovetails and machine cut.
You last name being Kopf I am wondering if you perhaps have German ancestry. Kopf is German and means Head. I have a feeling that you may just have some German in you because Germans are known for their detailed work.
I’m 70 years old and after obtaining your book I am now having a go at marquetry myself

I wish I could meet him. What an inspiring man. To bad I'm in California and can't afford to travel. Silas kopf and James krenov are my true heroes.
Absolutely gorgeous and incredible! Thanks.
well done, and of course I love the spiral.
