    You dont need to remove the trim, like the non sport, there are holes to move the airbag spring holder

    I just did this with a 2011 E89 Z4 sport wheel swap but my airbag warning stayed on and became a Check Control Restraint System Malfunction for the passenger-restraint system. Just something I noted. The airbag I took out had the two plugs going into the airbag and one plug going into the car while the new sport airbag had one plug to airbag and one plug to car.

      Camper1234599 There is a manual lock on the underside of the boot lid. You can always open it without power, using the key stored in the Fob.
      Even so, a better Thing to do is, firstly open the boot lid, then take your finger or screwdriver and push the locking clasp on the boot to the closed position. Then when you are finished, to close the boot just press the boot open button and it will pop open the clasp, then shut the boot lid as normal. It's a much safer way and You can be assured it can never accidently close on you, say if the key was broken.
      Just be careful not to forget and then close the boot hard as it obviously won't close until you pop it back open.

    • @OvalboreCars

    Is it possible to put a F30 steering wheel on a E90?

    • @OvalboreCars
      @OvalboreCars  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      haven't tried, but I'm guessing the splines and clock spring are not cross compatible. rarely does BMW leave those configurations the same between chassis.

    • @Xzizia92
      @Xzizia92 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Camper1234599 Its so weird that I can't fint the answer on google/youtube. I should not be the first one to think about that :P

    • @OvalboreCars
      @OvalboreCars  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure it has been tried, but F30s are still pretty new and their air bags are still thousands of dollars, so it'll be a bit before peolpe try it more I think
      when BMW went from E to F chassis 3 series, almost everything completely changed. I would be shocked if you could put an F30 wheel on an E90. Much more likely that you could put an F30 wheel on an F10 or F01.
      maybe check in to the F25 wheels. older chassis and may share the E90 spline. Just idle speculation on my part though.

    • @Xzizia92
      @Xzizia92 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Camper1234599 Okay, well I might have to buy a new car soon then haha. I really like the exterior of the E90 LCI, I think the back looks better than the F30, but the steering wheel and interior feels so old..

    I'm doing this swap but with an auto and I'm adding paddles to a non sport car. can I use the existing wiring in the wheel and then add my own connectors from behind column to the gear lever wires or do I have to rig the paddles with my own wires in the wheel to clockspring assembly and to the gear leaver

    • @OvalboreCars
      @OvalboreCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick Henno I despise automatic trans version so I don't know the answer
      It's pretty likely if you can find spare contacts in the clock spring or if you can have somebody recode the steering wheel module, you can use paddle shifters with the sport steering wheell
