When Japan opened its port to international trade in the 1850s and emerged from centuries of self-imposed isolation, Japanese prints, albums and objects arrived in Europe and North America in unprecedented quantities. In the frenzy of collecting and admiration that followed, Japanese art caught the eye of designers and artists seeking fresh solutions to artistic problems.

Play on 1.25 speed. You're welcome.
This reminds me of how Akira Kurosawa was influenced as a film maker by western literature & then he influenced western film making as seen in Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns like Fist Full of Dollars & classics like The Magnificent Seven & Star Wars. He is still influencing people like Quinton Tarantino & others.
Watch Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, & all those great samurai movies. Works of art.
very interesting!
