    You need to include the interest gain of 4% from age 30-55 for the RSTU amount .. and if u use OA to buy tbills assuming tbill is 3+% after 55. The net gain from RSTU is probably more than SA shielding

  • @leonc9549
    @leonc9549 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Actually can top-up MA to enjoy tax relief and then when u reach BHS, it will overflow to SA and I think those that overflow to SA will not be reserved.

    • @HoneyMoneySG
      @HoneyMoneySG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, I support VCMA first.

    • @cyyron
      @cyyron ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HoneyMoneySG does this mean even though reached BHS, can keeping VCMA-ing so that the excess flows into SA and they will not be reserved?

    • @cyyron
      @cyyron ปีที่แล้ว

      For cash top-ups to MediSave Account, the amount is subject to your BHS. Once your BHS has been reached, no further top-ups can be made to your MediSave Account. If you exceed your BHS from the top-up, your top-up will be fully refunded to you.

  • @therelaxchannel
    @therelaxchannel ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So your idea is to RSTU 15k into SA before 30 years old and then VCMA to get a supercharged SA and then do a OA to SA transfer to hit the FRS ?

    • @HoneyMoneySG
      @HoneyMoneySG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also ok, or just do VCMA till BHS first then consider RSTU according to the compounded $40K reserved amount at 55

  • @Qwert-po1wg
    @Qwert-po1wg ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If I have 500,000 from RSTU + interest by the age of 55. Can I withdraw anything in excess of FRS when these amount is transferred to RA?

  • @limcheehean
    @limcheehean ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How come your SA balance is the same in both cases? If you did $8k RSTU for 15 years, shouldn't the SA have extra $120k (+interest)? In both cases, you're only shielding you mandatory contribution portion, so in the end your SA balance after forming RA would be the same isn't it?

    • @HoneyMoneySG
      @HoneyMoneySG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it is meant to compare OA-SA transfer (which can fill up the additional $120K) vs RSTU-SA. With unreserved OA-SA funds, more can be shielded.

    • @Xamael666
      @Xamael666 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, maybe. Perhaps CPF Board knew about this loophole, hence, they try to plug it with the RSTU "reserved funds" policy 🤷‍♂

    Hello Chris! Thanks for the informative video. What if I don’t do any RSTU, the reserve amount will still be at the default 40K? From my understanding, I can only invest any amount above 40K in my SA.

    Hi Chris, 2 questions if u can assist me ? How about topping up cash to the full retirement sum and also self employed scheme? Are they subject to also same as RSTU not able to invest out?

    • @HoneyMoneySG
      @HoneyMoneySG  ปีที่แล้ว

      1) Topping up cash through RSTU is still reserved. VCMA is not reserved
      2) Self employed contributions (Mandatory MA and VC3A) are not reserved.
      Bottom line only RSTU-SA and funds transferred from spouse are reserved.

      It is considered reserved. I first did a small amount of OA transfer to my wife last year then I discovered that amount will be reserved. In the end, I transferred the max amount which will generate interest to get close to $40k.
