I have listened to this hundreds of times since I discovered it a year ago. The melody they play at around 2:30 reminds me of the Abyss soundtrack or the Disneys version of Atlantis. Absolutely beautiful. I can't imagine standing in that spot and hearing this LIVE!!!
I love that you can hear a little bit (though not much) of dirt in the clip. Just goes to show how much work these young men and women had to put in to put on such a spectacular performance at the end. I love getting to see how these ensembles grow over the course of the season. Great video, very impressive playing!
i was actually at this being a drumline nerd watching bluecoats practice over there in the back. when i heard this going on i had to stop and listen to these guys. this brass line is amazing. im so glad you uploaded this because ive been wanting to hear this again
Thank the Lord someone got a high quality recording of Crown's tuning while they were facing the camera! Finally found the video I've been looking for. Thanks!
Seeing this hornline live in Atlanta from fifty feet away was mind-blowing. It's too bad I'll never have the opportunity to do that again. Let's hope next year's line is as good or better.
Yes, but not by much. There isn't any noticeable loss in quality from the audio, but there is some as far as video goes. But that's very hard to notice unless you're watching on a bigger TV screen.
Went last night to BIG, LOUD & LIVE. Loved most of the evening, but the camera work on the Crown show was awful - ridiculously BAD! They showed mostly individual performances so you couldn't get a real good sense of the depth and breadth of the entire show (CC and BD were the only corps who didn't get a final clap from the theater - unthinkable!) I was so disappointed because from what I did see and hear, they performed really well. And, the crowd and commentators seemed to love it! GO CROWN!
The Contra Power at 4:05 is ridiculous. Thats the biggest difference between the BD and CC hornlines. BD is too top heavy with the highbrass dwarfing the low brass. Meanwhile, The CC hornline has a monster low brass section.
BD also has a massive low brass sound. The difference between crown and BD is that BD chooses to have more of a jazz blend and crown has more of a symphonic blend.
Yeah, which is kind of sad because sb/king tubas sound amaazzzing. I think a really good example of their low sound popping through really well is the closer for 2012 especially with them being in the front, it's sad they don't have that type of balance more often
Firetrucks and ambulance were there for the hopes and dreams of anyone looking for first place this year.
This comment deserves way more praise.
The blend, balance and intonation of this hornline is just unreal!!
You just can't hear this kind of sound from any other hornline. It really is amazing.
Why even bother having electronic instruments on the same field as such a glorious hornline?

Crown continues to set the standard for brass performance. So much perfection in this clip. The attack at 2:20....wow.
love this hidden gem

Every time I listen to this...Goosebumps.
This is going to be legendary.
Fire department was called to put the fire in the horn circle from the panties bonfire.

ive been around corps my whole life. since before i can remember. this quite possibly be the best hornline ever to exist
I bet the ambulances were called when someone's ear's exploded from this sound, and they couldn't do anything due to being distracted by the hornline.
Glorious. Just GLORIOUS!
Fav 'wish I was there' moment from DCI tour this Summer.. That was INCREADIABLE! :->
Crown won, and they completely deserved it
Nothing is louder than solid intonation.

One of the best audio recordings of 2013
haha I love the bluecoats bass beat at 4:30. and Crown, you guys by far have the best horn line this year. sounds gorgeous

Oh my God I love Matt Harloff
The drumline meshed so well with the entrance at :54
Hey! You write the stand tunes for my school.
They were set up in an arc at this show.
Watching and listening to Harloff teach is just awesome. (Ex. 2:19) It's no wonder this hornline sounds like it does.
3:59 too. Can’t make it out, but it’s him, alright.
My body was not ready for this.
Goosebumps at 2:20
Its weird that I lived 15 minutes away from this when it was filmed and had no Idea
More Please.
Hot damn.
wait i was totally standing right next to you when you filmed this :O

their sound volume is unbelievably unreal
When he said got to get louder I braced as I was unable to get my remote in time OL
Because synths can make any sound you want. Like any.
Is it just me, or are the Bloo basses tuned to the chord Crown starts with?
Jeez you can't hear the siren from the fire truck!
my lord
I wish I was american. High school seem a really enjoyable experience
this isnt a school group college age mostly. you have to audition.
Great recording. The uncompressed non-youtube version of this video must be better with the setup I saw on FB. Is this so?
Any got this music for trumpet!?
Well the Bluecoats give a nice beat to the stars of the show
You gotta be louder than that!
Is 4:38 for real?? Haha
lol what if the firetruck stopped to hear them instead of taking the call?
Pretty sure it didn't have its sirens on.
dat overtone.
chord at 4:04 = perfection
keep it down Bluecoats drumline, there are faces being melted by Crown's Brass!!!
Damn, who is the drumline in background at the beginning?
Bluecoats - twitch
Davis Boykin Damn good stuff!
holy crap... "You gotta be louder than that!!" challenge excepted!
You gotta be louder then that!!!
Mello a little sharp on that high C at 2:28 before it settles in.
Barely.
Lol Twitch in the background.
In front of bluecoats wtf

1 dislike...BD.

them ain't contras. contras disappeared with the switch to non-G horns. they do sound dang good though.
