See this is the type of stuff I want to do more of. FILLER VID! The almost-potential capital of the world that never happened. Home of the hidden Cocolo people (and one of the coolest interviews I've ever recorded). The micro-climate treasure of the D.R. This is Samaná. Hope you enjoy this one guys!

A couple of things. "Lugareño" is not a word. What you meant to say is "locales", as in "la gente local" or "la gente locales".
"Bacano" doesn't mean "vacation", it means "cool/great/awesome/etc".

The interview section just warmed my heart! Also just so you know, we as a country received two waves of English speaking African descendent groups: the cocolos came from West Indian Islands to work on the sugar plantations during the early 20th Century, mostly in San Pedro De Macoris and La Romana (some also moved to Barahona and Puerto Plata). The second group were the African Americans in Samaná that also influenced the local cuisine of the area; you go there and you see a lot of dishes and baked goods that contain coconut. Anyways thanks for putting my country on display!!!

13:08 Vacano does not mean vacation. "Vacano" is used to qualify people, objects and even situations. In other words, it stands for cool or fun. For example: Dominicans are vacano, because they are always cheerful and friendly. Thanks for visiting my country 🇩🇴

I went this last march to Las Galeras in Samana region, and it is a hidden gem for real. It is so small that you could learn the entire population of the village by name on day one. That also meant that service was top notch, people were super friendly, and other tourists, not so ignorant as ive seen in other places in the DR. best low profile place to blow off steam after a week of boca chica (local style) ever.

Great video! One detail, "vacano" isn't vacation hahahah, is like saying "good, great, cool, etc". And yes, everything with plátano is delicious.

Mr. Federico seems like such a cool gentleman. Good taste in clothes, has a great physique, has a rosary, is very humble, and is very knowledgeable. Many of us can learn from him.

"Vacano" is not vacation though. It's closer to "cool"
