This is a great idea. It should become a proper game on steam or something like that
Not on steam but maybe a browser game.
Also a mobile game
I agree!
I'm pretty sure the second map is in dutch
it says its in danish@@Gaming_vids-bm3fg
I found a globe in an antique store from 1939. It was after the invasion of Czechia but before the invasion of Poland.
that sounds cool
Petition for Druuuwu to collab with Drew Durnil
*Season 2 Ep 1*
And jacksucksatgeography should collaboration with jacksucksatstuff
Yeah, this is always fun, I found a map in my Grad student room that was very curious, and eventually (assuming consistent parts between map sections and no significant mistakes) I was able to narrow it down to basically the short period between the Russian Empire’s collapse and establishment of the USSR, mostly from the fact that the “Russia blob” had the name of the provisional Russian gov’t.
When Drew uploads, it is life-changing. Every video down to the last nanosecond is pristine quality and the best on the platform. This experience can change one’s life and it changed mind.

Yeah
3:55 it is definitely after 15.02.1951 because Poland is looking "normal" and that day Poland exchanged land with USSR
The patreon lore getting more and more insane
Bro has the star dew valley pfp respect
6:39 "Because Paris is Still Independent"
Ah yes
*THE FREE CITY OF PARIS!*
the first map is very strange casue Romanie still has Besarabia and southern dobruja
Yes
5:43 Namibia has "South Africa" in a bracket next to It's name, because It was a mandate and not independent nor was it fully integrated.
The bracket actually says South-West Africa, but your point still stands.
This was good, need more of these
2:14 China conquered Tibet in 1951, Indochina collapsed in 1954. The Korea stuff is probably a bias but It's from '58 so Indochina is probably western bias too
Love it that the american map maker put a question mark on the kilometer scale😂😂😂
Well not to sure, use it on your own peril!
Drew keep talking about Canada being a dominion and under the british, not realizing Canada is still called The dominion of Canada with the King as the sovereign
It was nice to see a map in Danish! The bit in the ocean says Bay of Bengal. All the countries are in correct Danish, except India. We call it Indien, and I don't know why the map doesn't. I'm almost certain it's not old enough for a change in name to have happened.
4:50 kinda disappointed that Drew didnt know that the DR Congo's old name was Zaïre or maybe he just forget
He did know, he's just saying that maybe in Danish the name its still the same. The happens alot in languages.
This looks great!
the danish map
a blast from the past
im from denmark and then i went to school(84-93) it was a standard roled up map you pulled down in front of the blackboard to teach us geography pretty much up to the the fall of the sovietuniun/USSR
it was a set of three Denmark Europe and The world
Im so glad drew is starting to make more videos than just 'I got rid of some country who will win?'
nah I liked those videos
@@marczandt476 yeah but it gets to a point ya know?
@@alanblack4966he does have another channel in fairness
Alll I can say for the last world map is that it looks like the Balkans war have ended and the ottoman Empire have lost the European territories so it's a range of 1910-1912 as Bulgaria is thick
Love how consistent the posts are
Brilliant idea. More of this, please.
3:50 I didn't expect to see a Dutch map.
From 3:18 to 4:15 the maps actual date (according to different countries over a specific time measurement) is the 2nd of March 1956. You’re welcome.
But didn't many of the West African countries only become independent in the 60s?
Drew, in my chemistry class in high school they have a world map with inventions being pointed at.
but then i noticed that the british raj still exists, and that germany has post ww1 pre ww2 borders...
I put the date at around 1920-21 as ireland is not independent
The last one was probably 1912-1918 because 1st Balkan war seems to have happened already and it's too inaccurate to say precisely if ww1 was happening since they probably wouldn't change the map during that period my guess would be 1913
Not possible. Cape colony still exists so it's definitely before 1909.
@@afrovarangian but I'm pretty sure Europe has priority over any colony
Canada has been it's own show since 1860s. Until 1949, Newfoundland was its own thing. Same for Iceland, before this, it was part of Denmark 🇩🇰
It's not a German map
Keep up the good work!
I love playing this game on my own whenever I see a map
The first map was after ww1 but before ww2 bc of the great romania
I was born 1985 in Westphalia, Germany. I have had a certain Chidrens Lexicon, which had a map of Germany, and I was absolutely intrigued as a 6 or 7 year old about a map that portrayed the so called "West Germany" (actually this is no official name whatsoever) with this certain "spot" of West Berlin inside a blank wall which was no further described :) I still have this Lexicon, I could never bear to throw it away because it so incapsulates this 80`s cold war feeling. It also has depictions of for example "a modern battlefield" with a whole page dedicated to showing how artillery works and how spotters work and so on. And it is a West German childre`s Lexicon from around 1980 :)
3:24 For the people that didn’t realize this map is Dutch 🇳🇱
I thought this would be part 2 of his "I created a WORLD battle royale simulator" video.
06:40 I think the map is between the 6th October 1939 and before 9th April 1940.
Poland capitulated on the 6th of October, but i am unsure when they borders were exactly decided between the USSR and Germany.
Denmark and Norway is still enjoying life and they were invaded on the 9th. Seeing as Denmark capitulated within 6 hours, it's safe to say its before that date.
Awesome dude
Another amazing video and play countryball at wars
My game is you tell chatgpt “give me a random Russian sentence alone, don’t translate.” Then transcribe the given sentence and for the first one ask “was it correct” and then ask for another one
My predictions about the maps:
Map 1: alright, so most of Africa is under European powers but countries like Poland have their modern borders. We can also see that Germany isn’t split in two, so it probably was still occupied by the Allies, so most likely 1947 or 48. (off by a few years)
Map 2: another post-WW2 map. This time I can see a line separating the two Germanies, so 1949-1991. This one is more difficult because it just shows the continent of Europe. Seeing Austria in one piece makes me think it’s after 1955, but I cannot be entirely sure. I think I’m gonna say it’s from the ’60s. (didn’t notice Trieste)
Map 3: independent Africa, Soviet Union still exists, DRC was still Zaire, I’ma go with the late 1970s/early 80s in this one. (Heck yeah!)
Map 4: no Poland, yes France. End of ‘39. (Hard to know the exact month, but I think my prediction is pretty accurate)
Map 5: Canada is still under the UK, Puerto Rico is the same color as the US, so early 1900s. (well, yeah, kind of)
Map 6: Balkan borders indicate pre-1913, and Austria-Hungary already owns Bosnia-Herzegovina, so it’s from the beginning of the 20th century. (Yeeh)
2:22 In this timestap Pakistan & India haven't fought the 1948 war for Kashmir and so kashmir is shown as a part of India. Not having dash lines or post kashmir war UN map. Second, Gawadar is the part of Oman. Which was later sold to Pakistan. To prove that it's between 1947-48 map clearly shows Korea is united.
I have a globe that I got from someone in daycare idk why and I think the map is in the 1950 area it’s at least after Stalin death because Stalingrad is called Volgograd so….

im just glad im not the only one who enjoys doing this
From 0:00 to 3:18 the maps actual date (according to different countries over a specific time measurement) is the 8th of February 1950. You’re welcome.
The map is wrong since Romania didn’t have Bessarabia at the time

The thing is, a map could have conflicting info... like having some country before 1960 and some country post 1960... because geographers would "lock" the map early and change only if something big came out.
3:18 "Golf Van Biskaje", or as they pronounce it, HROHRF FON HRISHAAHJE
1:00 the first map is wrong, the USSR had Moldavia and the tip of Czechoslovakia (so it was touching Hungary)
Drew the second map is in dutch.Nice dutch drew!
The foreign language one that's also the thumbnail appears to be Dutch.
In the first map, Germany _was_ visibly split, both Germanies just had the same color.
EDIT: Might have been the Elbe actually, doh!
2nd map... yeah, Trieste was independent until 1954 and Stalingrad was renamed to Volgograd in 1961

6:24 1939-early 1940 I should guess as only Poland has been invaded and Denmark and Norway still sovereign.
6:20 i can already say 1940~ because Lithuania has Vilnius, and thats a big giveaway
I think that ww2 map is january 1941 cuz alsace and lorraine is german just they didnt show vichy france and hungary got north transylvania in 2nd vienna award and soviets got bessarabia but yugoslavia easnt invaded so its 1st january 1941 maybe but somewhere there
I love things making reference to the Vienna Awards as I also refer to that at a post on my Fan Blog for the Czech-singing Hungarian-Slovak singer/actress, Valérie Čižmárová, 'Bananas For Breakfast'. There's a TH-cam video somewhere showing the development of Hungarian newsreel titles from the immediately pre-WWII period through to the bitter end under the Arrow Cross regime, where the Vienna Awards are touched upon, which I am sure you'll enjoy, despite the tale of national tragedy that it tells.
You should start streaming again
Btw the second map was in Dutch
The weird thing is that the Danish map had Namibia, which gained their independence in 1990 - so this should be there actually, not in the 80s .. and even more accurately they got their independence in March of that year and Germany re-unified in October that year so this is from that era, like March-October 1990
Internationally recognized in the 1970s kinda like Kosovo or Taiwan until 1990
The first map is pre-WWII, I think - it shows Germany as one country, i.e. not split into East and West. It must also be post 1934, which is when Libya was formed as one country. So, this map is from between 1934 and 1945.
I agree, although the prussian enclave is not on the map but the label Germany extends there, like they had territory there. Also Romania has Moldova, which they lost after WWII, together with the romanian-czechslovakian border.
But who knows, looking at the polish border, its not matching any period :D Could be a mapmaker in the 50'es working from 20 year old material, missing out half of the WWII updates :D
Map lore
The first one is 1955 from u.s.s.r OR nato
Yay there was a Dutch one
nice game
IM shaking help in earlyyy
I had that danish map in my 9th grade geography classom
Would be day 26 of waiting for Czechia to win one of the battle simulators but... how could this be won?
Drew, I want to play this game !
Second one is 1989-1990
That Map on 10:49 looks like the year 1806... I think I am sure
3:16 Dutch maps 🗿 I guess it’s Belgian cuz we had a lot of people making maps 😂 het zijn frieten geen patat
For the last one the ottomans controlled some of the blakans so 1920~ ish
first map says 56-58 but one DEFINING detail is that indochina exists and that was officially dissolved in 54 via UN resolution into North-/South Vietnam and co. as well as korea not benig split which got officially split after the korean war 53. So my conclusion is that only FULLY recognized countries (by everyone) are shown
1:03 this map is wrong because in 1939 Hatay a city in Turkiye reunited with Turkiye but in the map its not the case
I guess first map is incorrect as Drew said because Hatay province in Turkey joined Turkey in 1939 but in the map it shows it like its part of Syria, not even indipendent. So I would say before 1937 but united Korea was also a shock for a 1958 map LoL
yoo i do this whenever i see a globe in the wild lol
Second map is dutch
The first map has to be between WW1 and WW2 because of greater Romania
6:30 bro really called poland germany
West Indies is still used as a term in cricket
The last one I got 1913 because it is after the second Balkan wars
The first map is pretty wired, especially if you look at Romania. Moldova should have been for long part of the USSR, and a little part of Dobrouja was under bulgaria.
I had the Danish map in my school book during the 2010s💀
AtlasPro did this exact thing like 2 years ago
Zaire is the formal/Belgian name of Dem. Rep. Of The Congo
Danish map is 1975 because Cabinda is independent annexed by Angola and Cuban forces in 1975 after 1974 revolt, Libya has Aouzou strip annexed in 1973-75, also unified Vietnam in 1975 could be later since us supported UNITA not MPLA so maybe a bias in the map with Cabinda being independent.
dating maps hahhaha I think that went over a lot of heads XD
Dutch map in thumbnail let’s go
