The "swell" (high side) can come in handy for making the knife more right-handed or left-handed friendly... I have made some custom Opinel knives with Sambar stag rolls, and noticed this where the knife felt more comfortable in my left or right hand.
If you need to bring back color to faded antler & stabilize them what is the procedure. 1) color 2) slab & shape 3) stabilize. Or? What do you use to stabilize? What to color?
Just found your channel, great and helpful videos. My question is what kind of antler are you using? I have some whitetail antlers I'll like to use for handles. TIA
Very helpful video. I just made my first knife with antler scales, and the blue tape and superglue trick was a lifesaver. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, glad it helped.
The blue tape and super glue trick is awesome! Thanks for sharing your skills with us.
Dude! On Christmas Eve? Way to go man!
I had to get the knives done for Christmas

What do you use to stabilize?
What to color?
Do you color if the antler is bleach. What to use? Do you stabilize. If so before or after coloring.
Is spongy material inside exposed at all. If so is that good or what do you do about that ? I really couldn't tell in the video.

Thanks, I use mostly mule deer, but whitetail should pretty much be the same.
The pins are only sit in there without glue or something?
The pins also have epoxy before sticking them in there.
You have a way with words . Different I must say.
May I ask what technique you use to flush the pins into the antler handle? Do you sand the outer scale?
At 9:00 he mentions sanding or peening and that he is sanding them on this one.
Where you get pins for handle?
They are 1/8 brass rods and your hardware store.
You never stabilize your antler ??
Are any of your knives for sale ?
Mmmm smells good when you sand it... LOL
You skipped the main fucking part of shanding
Nice i dont like using antlers that smell stays with you
Believe in Jesus Christ and be saved from hell before it’s eternally too late if you haven’t already. May God bless your day
One thing this rookie forgot to mention was to make sure the antlers you use are stabilized!
