Albeit a Dutchman, I grew up in the '60s and '70s in Palo Alto. I regularly used Caltrain. Now back in the fatherland, I am watching the progress of this colossal project. Finally! Perhaps one day I may have the opportunity to ride in these new trains.
Saw one sitting at San Antonio on my lunch break today. Definitely looking forward to launch day for these trains. I imagine they're also trying to figure out the new timetable as well this weekend.
Please return the Hersheybar to The Lanes San Mateo, CA 94403 fcpd Michael Lane. CalTrain is trick or treating of Dr. Seuss. They appreciate your service, Barnes and Noble.😷👽why is it taking so long racism is seeking ownership since 2004.
A great video Fred. I wish all employees, train drivers and above all passengers lots of fun with the new trains. I bet you will be thrilled. I myself am an engine driver on the Flirt 3XL from Stadler. Great work from everyone and good luck to all.
I read Caltrain bought 23 seven car trainsets, so 161 total cars. They did a recent test running eight trainsets at once. I'm unsure what the average number of trains they'll be running at the same time, but it looks like they have enough to meet the need, with extra capacity when needed and/or when some cars are being serviced.
Here is a question I posed recently: Paula Ford: when I was at the Caltrain EMU event at Diridon last summer I was puzzled why the accessibility configuration for these new KISS units was not really optimal. The current double doors are not flush with the platforms and an additional “ramp” needs to be manually deployed to load or unload wheel chair passengers. There are addition doors at a higher level (currently blocked by seats) on these trains that might be compatible with to be deployed high level platforms once California High Speed Rail trains are configured. Then we might have a Municipal Metro type scenario where some stations will use the low level manual access and some stations which will have high level boarding platforms using the other doors. Perhaps a representative from either Caltrain or Stadler can comment.
I got to the Bayshore Station at 8:45 and saw a southbound and northbound KISS within 45 minutes. At South SF station a train arrived within 5 minutes. Same at Millbrae and 22nd and 4th and King. Caltrain dude said there were at least 4 trains under test. Maybe more.
When they start the new schedule with the electronic trains in september 2024, there will be a train every 30 minutes in off-peak times & weekends. And local service trains will be about 25 minutes faster (because the new train can acelerate and stop much faster)

September 21st. I must ride them on my next trip from L.A. They'll sure beat the old trains, which are like riding inside a hamster cage. :/

SPOT IT AT PALO ALTO STATION NEXT SO I CAN LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE
without the annoying music next time please?

I would recommend removing the music for the train clips (I enjoy the original sound of trains when it comes to railfanning videos)

Where are you driving your Flinker Leichter Intercity- und Regional-Triebzug Trains?

How many EMU Passenger Cars are there for Caltrain?

@@roachtoastiesThink the Caltrain EMUs will be more better in the future.
Is level-boarding planned in the future?
