    I'm not sure why anyone criticized this video. Dude just solved so many newbies issues here. Hell, I had no idea that there was an adapter to solve the cropping lower end merch. Will it fix the eos r cropping during video? Bought to find out.

I think people that are seriously in the market for this camera may appreciate the video but those that wanted to get the latest hot scoop were let down due to me pointing out the obvious. But yeah I use it on my EOS R specifically for that purpose. Works beautifully.

    Nice vid. I use the Viltrox on my M50. Only complaint is that it drains the battery. There are also some other issues with it that’s not covered in the video. Having said that, works great with the 50mm, and that extra stop of light made it worth the money.

    Hi, I'd like to point out that although speed boosters do give a stop of light, they don't give you blurrier (if that word exists) backgrounds. On the contrary, they reduce the image projected by the lens thus increasing the light intensity (hence the stop gained) but at the same time, by making the image smaller, the depth if field increases. Yes, it's a little bit confusing, but a FF 35mm lens on an APS camera with a booster will look like a 35mm lens on a FF, but with the depth of fiels of a 22mm lens. Remember, APS sensors don't change any attributes of the image the lens project, nor light intensity or depth of field, they just capture less of the image. On the other hand, boosters do change the image, reducing its size and increasing its light intensity and depth of field.

  • @VicLoGo
    @VicLoGo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As far as I’m concerned, the speed booster gives you an extra stop of light, but doesn’t affect the depth of field. The background will stay exactly the same.

    • @FulaanCreative
      @FulaanCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Not exactly, although technically that is true in is not true in application. Here's why. Due to the reduction in focal length you will need to come closer to your subject than you normally would. The act of coming closer to the subject makes for shallower depth of field than you would normally have at that focal length.

    Which camera would you recommend, that has RP quality, AND 4k 30FPS? And hopefully better rolling shutter! .. Any suggestions are appreciated!!

    I have been shooting real estate for about a year with the Canon M50 and the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 lens with mostly good results. But looking to upgrade to either the R50 or R10. The Laowa 9mm with the aps-c crop is about 13.5mm which is plenty wide for real estate, and I don't want to lose that. I will only buy the camera body since with either of these will require a wide-angle lens for shooting real estate photography and videography.
    I don't think there's a better lens out there for the Canon asp-c than the Laowa 9mm, let me know if it's a direct mount to these camera bodies or if an adaptor is required? Thx!

    Great video mate. I am now in the market to buy a new camera. My old Nikon D500 has pretty bad recorder and produces a lot of hiss (white noise) when recording with an external microphone. Do you hear such hiss when recording with an external microphone on the R10?

    • @FulaanCreative

      @@FulaanCreative Huh... interesting, I may get the R10. My current mic is pretty solid, the MKE600.
      For my current case, if you plug any external mic directly to the Nikon D500, it will produce a loud hiss. I read this is because the recorder in D500 is pretty bad (or more specifically, bad preamps).
      I am glad to hear the R10 does not have such issues! I am pretty lazy to sync my audio and video everytime.

    Hi Fulaan, appreciate your efforts and like your channel. I have just a few comments to share:
    1 - Cinestyle is not a real "C-Log" it's just a tricky Neutral profile that can, for free, guarantee good results at the price of noise and it works only at steps of ISO 160. I tested and tbh I don't really like it, but I am not a colorist nor a professional and the color grading is absolutely subjective.
    2 - I found a good combination with the Neutral profile and looks pretty good, just need to add a bit of contrast and saturation in post and it is ready to go.
    3 - For night scenes I think HDR-PQ is better than other flatty profile
    Happy to discuss with you anytime it would pleasure and honor for me.

    • @FulaanCreative
      @FulaanCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Tony. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes you are correct about cinestyle for the most part. I have pretty much been using it since a few years ago when I was shooting only with the m50 which already has very noisy shadows. What I observed about it vs c-log on my Eos R is that although it doesn't technically give you extra dynamic range it helps the luts really stick nicely on the footage. I do a lot of color grading and use Luts on almost every video. By doing this I managed to get like 5 different looks all in the same room. The only thing is that due to cinestyle bringing up shadows you really have to expose perfectly to avoid excessive noise. I have also had descent results with the a tweaked nuetral profile although I do prefer cinestyle. Personally I don't like HDR PQ. Sometimes it looks nice but it reacts so differently to color correction than what I am used to. If I had the choice I would shoot strictly in c-log as I do get the best results that way. Nice chatting with you. Talk to you later. Peace.

    • @TonysTravel
      @TonysTravel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FulaanCreative it is likewise my pleasure chatting with you, and as I said is absolutely subjective the color grading, but it's just my personal taste. I use a lot of LUTs as well because I do have not enough time to color grade and color correct every single video otherwise my wife wants to divorce me :-) You are lucky to have the cameras with the real c-log, I used Fuji, Panasonic, and Sony but at the end of my journey, I chose Canon because is much closer to my taste. When I can I will invest in an R7 but I stick with my R10, actually, I need to get the meike adaptor (the original has a crazy price) and the "magic" nifty-fifty, I have the original kit lens and it doesn't not meet my expectations. Also, I will buy your LUTs when I have a decent c-log :-) Have a good one I'll reach out via e-mail to discuss something...and as always PEACE!!!

    • @FulaanCreative

      they do, but there is a technicality. So what happens is you get an extra stop of light and it widens the field of view. The reason there is a blurrier background is because to achieve the same field of view that you would get w/out the speed booster you would need to come closer to the subject and that is what gives you more bokeh, the fact that you are closer to the subject.

      @hettyherz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ceciliacarniti7862 @ceciliacarniti7862 It is a very good camera, especially compared to 100D. Shooting slow-mo I love the most. I think, this camera needs fast focusing lenses and a bit of a practice - I still struggle with shooting very fast-moving objects. To catch a supersonic aircraft or a flying bird or an insect is very hard for me: I can't imagine how people find them so quickly and keep them in a view finder. And because my lens isn't very fast, when the camera loses focus, it takes time to focus an object again - especially if an object is quite small and stays/moves in front of a noisy background like grass and flowers. Recently I filmed squirrels in a park, and again, it was so obvious that the camera needs a faster lens than I have (or maybe it is the EF-R adapter that slows it down, I don't know yet and need to test it).

      If what you are concerned with mostly is photos I would go with the R10 for sure. The new AF system is crazy good as well as many other upgrades on the photo side.

    Hi, I am into filmmaking. I want to make short films and automobile review videos for youtube. I am confused between R10 and RP. In India, I am getting R10 with kit for Rs. 1.15 lacs or $1445 and RP with kit for Rs. 1.25 lacs or $1570. Can you help me out in taking decision?

      The RP is a full frame camera. The main benefit will be an ability to get a wider field of view. Meaning you don't have to be as close to the subject to get the same shot. Other than that the R10 is probably better at most other things.

    Always on top. This means that with the Meike Drop-in ND Filter adapter I can use my 18-35 1.8 and 50-100 1.8 sigma again.
    Back to business tanks to you.
