We are onion growers in New York. I’ve been planting barley as a cover crop then no-tilling corn into the cover in the spring. We have had good luck with the barley. We want to use rye so it winter overs better. Just looking for advice on using rye. Great info in video Thanks

I honestly don’t see avoiding yield drag as feasible, but making more profit by reducing inputs is very likely once you figure it out.

Was the rye after wheat the previous summer or after beans the previous fall?

What if I have soil with high clay % and there is a drought coming?

If you terminate the rye prior to planting, they shouldn't pull any water out of the ground+ the staw will provide shade.

There are lots of ideas out there but no one says what to do and what will work! Pretty much have to try a couple acres yourself that's what we are trying

Very interesting, I'm on my 2nd year doing soybean/winter rye (cover crop)/ corn and SB/rye/SB. Same kind of test killing before and after and 15" with interlock corn and SB in sout west Quebec... very much like to see all the result please contact me we are 250ac plus of rye covercrop
