- I purchased my home in 2022, but started my move from Washington, DC in May 2023. The home is semi custom and is just under 3000 square feet. Come along with me as I walk my guests (you) through the home. I’ll show you upgrades I chose, my first appliance delivery, unboxing of my first Amazon package to arrive, and share a visit from my first out of town surprise guest.

Beautiful home! Congratulations! Actually, you do not want the refrigerator very tight in the space so air can circulate to the back of it. Many break down because people fit it perfectly in those spaces and the compressor overheats due to no air circulation and it conks out. Yours fits just like it should.

Hey Pink @pinkcarterinc I worked with the bank. The loan officer officer told me. He asked if I were interested in doing so. Basically, one has to put down what amounts to over 20%. When some are closing for as little as 3% to 5% some may have a difficult time putting that much down. The bank and my financial planner (I have one bcuz it’s FREE to have one) know my goal is to be mortgage free on this property so they helped me plan the purchase. Also, a lot of people don’t realize that a house can EASILY be paid off in 15 years rather than 30 or even as little as 7.5 years. The difference in monthly payment depends on the mortgage amount, but in money may be as little as as extra $200 a month to an extra $600 a month. When I say easily, I know this isn’t easy for everyone, but there isn’t a insurmountable amount of money one has to pay every month to pay a home off in 15 years rather than 30. I probably shouldn’t say “easily”, but if one is able to make sacrifices it’s possible. Some things that may be non negotiable that would / may prevent this is a child in private grade school or in college, or if the homeowner is in college. In this video I discuss how one simple thing can save someone $1500 a year. If that same person makes similar adjustments it could amount to a lot of savings. The link to the video is here. THIS IS ONE STRATEGY I BEGAN USING YEEEAAARS AGO AND IT CHANGED MY LIFE. I’m not a frugal person by any means, but I definitely think about every dollar before I spend it. People talk about how high the interest rates are now, but there are CDs that are paying over 4% if one leaves money in it for 6 months to a year. That’s a fast return to just money sit. I know you asked about buying the interest rate down but there are so many ways to better financial moves. A great financial move is stocks, but that’s long term. I got into short term stocks during COVID bcuz stock prices dropped so much. As the prices increased my little investment doubled, tripled, quadrupled and beyond. I brought the short term stocks bcuz my sister friend called and shared with me that she’d stated with 2K and her account was now 16K and growing. I already had stock managed by my 401K and another investment account, but I didn’t have any I played around with on my own. After personal research (I work for a pharmaceutical company) I invested in companies that were supporting transport of the COVID vaccines. I invested $500. In 6 months the $500 was nearly $1300. Stocks done usually move this fast, but 2020 and 2021 were crazy. Overall, my focus is on cash only for everything including car purchases (I have credit cards only to keep my credit score up - if I make a purchase I immediately pay it off). I’m a person that at one point has a credit score in the low 500s!!! I got out of a financial whole. Others can, too. In 2020 or 2021 I made a pretty penny off of AMC (movie theatre) stock. Google it. It was being said that it would take off. I purchased it for a few dollars (like 3 or 4 bucks) and it went to a little over $60 a share. Nothing in the stock market is guaranteed. But I take what I call McDonalds money (what I used to spend on fast food) and I invest. 100 shares of AMC cost me about $400 (McDonalds lunch money over 2 months) and it turned to about $6600. So it’s not simply about buying down the interest rate, it’s also about making overall financial strategies to be able to buy it down if one wants to. And no, not all of
