A free translation of the speech:
Answer 3:42 "Advaita means non-dual i.e. there is no other object but One in reality . There is just the One . This philosophy hentails two important concepts :we seemingly make a distinction between the same One , for transactional purposes .
How can there be just the One ? There is very obviously many objects and entities ?
Ans- There need not be two or more entities in reality . There is only One -this is the premise of Advaita . This seemingly appears as many , and we endorse this for worldy transactions .
Sat kaarya vaada= The effect pre-exists in the cause in a subtle unrecognisable form . Accepted in the Saankhyan and Vedantic philosophy .
Asat kaarya vaada= The effect does not exist before the cause in any form .Accepted by logicians of the Nyaya philosophy.
How can we understand this premise which is non-intuitive ?
Simple Analogy: 8:46
There is a white A4 sheet which is homogenous.How many objects are there? Just one -the paper . One is asked to write a few sentences in a particular font on it . The writer has no trouble doing so .
He is asked to draw a circle . Now how many objects are there ? Seemingly two - the "inside" of the circle and the "outside" . Now the writer is asked to take down a few sentences . The command is ambiguous since the text can be either written within or without .
Let's say he writes it within .
Now he is asked to draw a few more smaller circles within the same paper . outside the larger circle . They are drawn . Now the same command is given:to write a few sentences on the paper , in a certain font .
Again the command is ambigous - should we write them in the larger or smaller or without .
Lets say he is asked to write the same sentences as was written in the larger circle , in the same font , on one of the smaller circles .
This is of course impossible . You cannot fit the same information in the same manner , into the smaller circle as the larger circle .
Why?
Because of the nature of the circle itself?
Which is ... ?
The radius of the circle - i.e. how farther apart the curve is from each point on the same curve. This is determined as the circle was being drawn out .
So the objects (circles ) are "distinct " in that they are located at different centers and have a different radius. This is the perspective of the circle.
From the perspective of the paper : how many objects are there?
There is only one- the white A4 sheet . Just that it has some "random" marks on it . The existence of the circle is born with the idea of inside and outside and the curve drawn . These ideas are made by the writer and do not exist in itself .
The only thing which exists , from the point of sense-information, is a white rectangular sheet with a few black marks .
So let's rub off those marks (assuming it was written with a pencil). Now how many objects exist?
Only one -the sheet .
Advaitic premise(Note :- the premise is not an extension of the analogy . It is an original premise as is . The analogy is just to help understand the premise better and get a feeling for it ): There exists in reality only One -called the Brahman , by the Shrutis(Vedas) .This entity is the sum and substance of all reality itself . It is devoid of any inherent physical or mental characteristics.(Nirguna) It is the essence of all beings, universe , God , and the individual consiousness . (like the sheet is the essence of all the circles , large and small . The sheet itself has no radius or a center. It is devoid of the characteristics of the circles .)
This is also referred to as Shuddha-Chaitanya = the unconditioned Consciousness .
There is an unknown unknowable pseudo-entity which creates apparent distinctions within Brahman (apparent to the "created " distinction itself) called Maya (Similar to the marks and curves which are drawn on the sheet )
The genesis of such apparent distinctions is this Maya -also referred to as Avidya , Tamasi ,etc. The "perceiver" , created by Maya , is deceived by the same , into believing that there is the individual in and of itself , independent of the others .(Similar to the believing the small circler has an independent existence , outside the sheet , when in fact the circle is only a concept in them in the mind , born of "inside" and "outside" - "I " and the "other")
There are grades of these apparent distinctions of Maya :- some are endowed with "much more" substance of Brahman than others . (like there are smaller and bigger circles , by the virtue of the property of radius and center)
There is one such largest apparent entity -called Ishwara (God roughly) , who has surpassing properties of all others .
There are other such smaller conditioned entities too called "jeevas" ( literally the "beings" )
Hence they are distinct in their apparent properties (like radius and center in the analogy)
Hence , for the limited Jeeva , all distinctions seem real and obvious.
There can be a worship of the Ishwara , owing to this apparent disctinction .Hence we need not say that through Advaita everything is same .
Everything is same only from the standpoint of Brahman , and not of the jeeva or the Ishwara or anything else .
Both of them have "arisen" in identity from Brahman . But by the nature of Upadhis ( apparent limitations) , they are different .
The Brahman remains unchanging . There is a superimposition of the Upadhis on it . This leads to diversity in the apparent creation .
Saguna Brahman is another name for Ishwara .It has the highest substance of Brahman .
Nirguna Brahman is another name for Brahman in of itself when there are no Upadhis superimposed on it. (like the clean white sheet originally and after removing well all marks on it )
Para Brahman is also another name for the same Nirguna Brahman , which is the essence of all Ishwara , Jeevas, and the world (Jagat)
This is easy way to understand Advaita in a concise manner .

ಕಾಗದವು ಒಂದೇ ಆದರೂ, ಕಾಗದದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗ ಕೆಳಭಾಗ ಎಂಬ ಭೇದವು ಸಹಜವಾಗಿದೆ ಆದರೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಲ್ಲಿ ಆತರಹದ ಭೇದವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಲು ಶಕ್ಯವೇ?
ಈ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗ ಕೆಳಭಾಗ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ನಾವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ಆಚಾರ್ಯರೇ . ಅದೇ ಕಾಗದ ವನ್ನು ತಿರುವು ಮುರುವು ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗ ಕೆಳಭಾಗ ಎರಡು ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಭೇದ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಕೇವಲ ನಾವುಗಳು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ವಿಷಯ ಹೊರತು ವಾಸ್ತವ ವಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದಲ್ಲ. ವಾಸ್ತವವಾಗಿ ಕಾಗದ ಒಂದೇ. ಆದರೆ ಹಾಗಂತ ಭೇದ ಬೇಡವೇ ಎನ್ನುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಭೇದ, ತಾರತಮ್ಯ , ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಭೆದಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟು ಹಾಗೂ ಇವು ಬೇಕು ನಮ್ಮಂತಹ ಲೋಕ ವ್ಯವಹಾರ ಮಾಡಲು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ವೈತ ಇದರ ಖಂಡನೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಹೊರಟಿಲ್ಲ. ಭೇದ ವನ್ನೂಕೂಡ ವಿವರಿಸಲು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಅದ್ವೈತದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಬುದನ್ನ ಇದರಿಂದ ತಿಳಿಬಹುದು. ಹಾಗೆಯೆ ಖಂಡನೆ ಮಾಡದೆಯೂ ಮಂಡನೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದಾದ ತತ್ವ ಅದ್ವೈತ ಎಂಬ ಇದರ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಅರಿವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಆಚಾರ್ಯರಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ. ಅದ್ವೈತದ ಸಾರ ಹೀಗಿದೆ: ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕಾಣುವ ವಿಶ್ವ ಸಗುಣ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ. ವಿಶ್ವದ ಮೂಲ ನಿರ್ಗುಣ, ನಿರಾಕಾರ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ. ಈ ವಿಶ್ವದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕಣಕ್ಕೂ ಒಂದೇ ಮೂಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಸಗುಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಭೇದಗಳು ಮೂಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾಯೆ ಎನ್ನುವರು. ಆದರೆ ಮಾಯೆ ಎಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡಲು ತೋರಿಸುವ ಇಂದ್ರಜಾಲ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಬಾರದು ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಈ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ನಿರ್ಗುಣ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿಂದ ಯಾಕೆ ಆಯಿತು, ಹೇಗೆ ಆಯಿತು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ.
