    I wonder if there is packaging disposed of in the back, out of sight. I reckon there has to be, but at least they buy bulk quantities, so much less packaging is used. All in all, in our imperfect world, this is a wonderful endeavor. They deserve to became a big chain ( if they stick to current values, and don't become too corporate )

      Of course there is packaging involved on the business side of things. There has to be. The majority of the waste is from us, and catered to us, the consumers. If we don’t speak up about it nothing will happen. Too many people complain and want copious amounts of packaging so their food looks like it was shit out of a shiny unicorns ass. People are used to sterility now. They want it. We have to get back to the dirty.

      @jackgeorge6288 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah ofc they have to buy stuff in packaging, but it’s one big bag instead of a thousands of small ones and overall a significant decrease in the amount of material used

    I have numerous flashbacks of this store when faced with having to get another item in a plastic container over and over and over again. I wish the people in PA were smart enough to do this...

    Absolutely fantastic, seeing this is so satisfying it soothes my soul. In france the AGEC law enables us to bring our own containers in supermarkets, bakeries.... But there are other problematics that may be brought in this video : the well being of the cows who gave the milk, the ingredients of the dishsoap, the origin and transport of the sugar....

    How were this goods transported and stored before going into the glasses containers? If they were in kg plastic bags that were disposed and transfered into this glass jars the waste is there. I only ask because I buy chycken breasts (almost the only animal protein I eat) and bring my own containers thinking I am saving plastic. The other day realized that supermarket receives the chicken breasts is 2kg plastic bags, the same amount I buy into my own plastic container... So indirectly, I am generating trash even if it doesn't come to my house...

    • @rgzhaffie

      Good to be aware of. In the final analysis, while our own behaviors are important (primarily for cultivating a crucial state of individual and collective consciousness without which we are collectively doomed), the most important changes must come about collectively. No single one of us can build an entire
      separate, parallel, sustainable civilization in our own backyard.
      (In fact, our biggest challenge is overcoming our own society's delusional kind of hyperindividualism that creates such false dichotomies in our minds in the first place.)
