Best for you regarding hills is to go out on your own, hit those Richmondo hills, and don't worry about how fast other people are. Concentrate on you and your efforts. You will get progressively better, they (any hill) will still feel tough, but you will get better at doing them. Repetition is key. Also know the hill you are climbing and again measure your effort. Don't burn your matches on the lower slopes, and try to alternate sitting and spinning up in a nice gear, to standing up on the last part of the hill. Always change your gears up one or two as you'll be standing and pedalling and not getting anywhere. Once you master this you'll know. Always good to rest up and recharge your batteries. Like you say.. listen to your body. Good luck bro 👍
Thanks for that bro! Will definitely try what you said about the efforts though. And yeah rest is soo important. After a few days of rest the hills felt much easier to do :-)
Thanks bro! yeah I am realising how important rest is now. Need to learn how to just rest the body and not get caught up on FOMO, especially when the weather is finally good haha
Train on _hills hills hills_ .....it is the best overall training you can do....your power and aerobic capacity will improve by a huge amount 👍 Recovery is as important as training.....give the body time to recover and rebuild....I do a Sunday Club ride [50-70 miles normally], gym Wednesday [3 hours], turbo Thurs [2 hours]....rinse and repeat....that is 4 rest days a week !.....I am improving tremendously 😊
oh thanks for that. There is a massive hill next to me so might do some training there. Do you just go all out on it? Yeah.. I need to rest more. I usually go gym on the days I don't cycle so around 5x a week but tend to do upper body cause my legs are always worked on cycling days. but I think I might lower that to 3 to 4x a week now
Pacing. Used to get dropped left right and centre. By the time i hit half way, used to already dead. Now I still die, but slower and more towards the end
yeah my friend had a look at my strava and he said my power is all over the place. So I am going to try and maintain a consistent power next time (once I've recovered haha)
How was the cafe coffee and food if you tried anything ? not sure where in London you are based but Wimbledon Village has good hill repeat areas not long but get your heart working or book a week in Mallorca
the caffee was decent .. the food couldn't really try anything else as they were basically closing so everything has ran out. Only had what was left over which was ok. Oh hahah I have been around Wimbledon to cycle, it is very hilly.. Surprisingly hilly haha.
@avocado.cyclist thanks! They don't look to be in the way of your glasses or helmet in any way(?) Enjoying the vids btw. Only just found your channel but will look out for you in Richmond Park 👍
@@josiahnorman7640 nah they are not bro. And very comfortable as well. Thanks bro. Glad you enjoy it! Definitely say hi if you see me 🙌🙌. If you haven't ordered the aftershokz by then you can see how the fit when I wear mine when you see me 🙌
@@avocado.cyclist much appreciated! They're cheaper than I thought they would be so think I'll treat myself to a pair! I'll keep my eyes peeled around the Roehampton gate cafe (my favourite bit of the park, of course)

Great point to highlight that rest and recovery IS part of the training you do. Keep at it! Awesome video again. 👊

Oh might even do just Yoga on the rest days instead of weight training. That should help a bit

I've exhausted myself today and didn't go far but have some inclined and heat @ 5200 ft elevation ugh
Damn...better rest up, dont make the same mistake I did cause otherwise you will end up needing to take a few days off
@@avocado.cyclist definitely 👍

If you get stronger then the hills won't give you a workout..it's a catch 22
you know what.. that is actually soo true!
Should be easy, man. You have short legs 😊
how would you know? you stalking me yeah ? 😅 Weirdo haha
