My only thing bout this is the cable extension quality. I would get the best one, that way you don’t have to disassemble so often. Cause cable don’t last. Also strain relief so it don’t rip the circuit board out if dropped

You’re a better man than me!! Looks like a science project 😂😂. If money was of no concern, which transmitter would you buy that has long range out the box??

The most user friendly range out the box is 10px. The radio with most range would be Radiomaster mt12 elrs. Problem is it's not user friendly. You have to learn to program it. Can be great if you are patient and willing to self teach yourself.

Great work, but I'm quite sure your warranty has been voided. They will never exchange or fix your transmitter for free, under your current warranty. They will find a way to terminate your warranty. This is why I don't buy traxxas stuff, no warranty when you introduce a power source. If people got an exchange, they got lucky. No warranty on any castle esc's or motors either, unless you buy the extended, and if you used it for speedruns, it's voided also. People get lucky with exchanges or discounted replacements.

@JasonGunn418 thanks. I am aware of warranty implications doesn't bother me at all. Heck warranty doesn't cover anything that isn't considered workmanship. For example, if I drop the radio and the screen cracked, or something broke due to mis handling they would charge for repair. Even if you don't mod your radio and send it in for warranty repair, thwy are going to check the radio to ensure that it is intact a factory defect before repairing for free, if they determine it's not a defect. You're still gonna have to pay out of pocket.

@@jaymitchrc I said that because you mentioned a warranty, and I found it pretty funny why you would have even mentioned it, LOL..... Either way your going to pay for any repairs, and they will make sure of that, with any excuse they have, because they already got your equipment, and they know you want it back, lol......

Bro, fucking around with a transmitter that’s $800.. you definitely got some nutts..I give you a lot of credit..and if there is a better way or simpler way of doing it..if there is and I’m sure that there is but from the comments somebody mentioned something like that.. live and learn that’s what the hobby is all about.
I’m getting my 10px this Thursday and even after watching your video I don’t think 🤔 I’ll be trying it.
Maybe I’ll come by your crib so you can do it lol 😂

Thanks for watching. I will say doing it the way I did it is completely reversible. There are some folks that have permanently moved their radios. Since they seem to update these radios more frequently then ever there was no way I was going to hack this thing up and not be able to put it back to stock for resale, lol.

Hi why you install this anten on your radio ? Your radio 10px have short range ?

    • @jaymitchrc
      @jaymitchrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

If you're not running into range issues absolutely not necessary. The range on these are atleast 800ft which should be plenty for most folks. As I stated in my video I'm speedrunning andi as my speed increases I need more range. This became more apparent when my speeds have recently got to160mph, so I was encountering range issues cus my runs are now atleast 2000ft total or 1000ft in each direction when I stand in the midpoint of the road. Again this should only be done if you need more range. Absolutely not necessary.

Hey Jay Mitch, I really took a look into boosting my new 10px that I just about ready to unbox on my channel... I hv a few questions on this : 1 is hv you kept your boosted setup like this bc there is a slightly cleaner way to do it... Have you had a look at Raz and Kevs live stream when Raz visits Kev for Rossa 2022?? If not all you needed to do when you did this is run your booster wires rd n blk through the left most 2.5mm hex screw on the back section you worked on including the antenna wire... I'm not positive but question 2 if your running a lipo for the transmitter or Li-fe for the 10px why not just let the transmitter pack run the booster?? Way less more stealth if so anyway I'll try posting a vid soon when I try it.... Thanks for the post links for the booster another sub from me 👊👊

Thanks for the info (even with all the shots of your jeans...lol). As I don't want to mod my 7PX, or Flysky Noble NB4, I'm seriously considering picking up a 4PM specifically for speedrun duty. As the 4PM is (mostly) based on the 7PX, I'd assume (meaning, I'm STRONGLY hoping) that the install process is (essentially) identical to the 7PX.

@@chrislang7460 Thanks for the info. However, since this video was released, RadioLink released their RC8X, which includes a built-in DSC port. While the DSC port has a few uses, the most important...at least, where range extenders & speedrun vehicles are concerned...is the ability to directly plug in a TBS Crossfire, no mods required. Within the radio's settings, there's even a "TBS Crossfire" setting, which, as I understand it, also turns off the radios built-in transmitter. Starting with a bare RC8X, in less than 5 minutes (the estimated time it takes to connect the Crossfire, and change the necessary Tx settings), you can go from a Tx with 800m range, to one with a range of several miles.

@@chrislang7460 For RC radios, 'sexy' is the least important thing...actually, it's even lower than "least important". 'Functionally' is what matters. Besides, the purpose of the RC8X will be specifically for speedrun vehicles...for everything else, I have my Futaba 7PX, FlySky Noble NB4, and GT3C. Plus, I am on the verge of replacing my NB4 with the Noble Pro...NOW you're talking "sexy" (though, that has absolutely nothing to do with why I'm replacing my NB4 with the Pro).

@@chrislang7460 Sorry to have to say this, so I'll do my best to word it in a non-demeaning way. You don't appear to know...or, should I say, understand...much about range extenders, plus you appear to be more interested in "form" than "function". The reference to "miles" has nothing to do with the RC8X...or any RC Tx, for that matter. As such, allow me to try and help you understand.
First, you will not find ANY reviews on the RC8X, or any other RC Tx, talking about "miles" of range. The great majority of transmitters have a maximum range of 600m, or less, while a few can achieve up to 800m. These range distances are for the radio's built-in transmitter, combined with the manufacturer's own receivers (ie. Rx). The Crossfire is, essentially, an external range extender that uses it's own transmission radio, in conjunction with its own receivers...but, in reality, it's actually an external transmitter. There are several external transmitters on the market, for which the Crossfire is but one (made by Team Black Sheep, ie. TBS). Just as with standard RC radio equipment, these external transmitters utilize their own Tx & Rx, and they are rarely (if ever) compatible with hardware from other manufacturers, very much in the same way that you can't pair a Spektrum Rx to a Futaba Tx, as they each "speak their own language".
Whereas RC radios use fairly low-power transmitters, external transmitters use transmitters that are more similar to those used in current drone radios (ie. they have much higher power output). To give you a better idea of what I'm talking about, compare the technology used in the original DJI Phantom (which used traditional RC transmitter equipment) to the technology used in DJI's latest drones. The original Phantom had a maximum range of approx 300m, whereas the Phantom 4 has a maximum range of approx 3.1 miles. Even better, compare that to a couple of DJI's newest drones - the Mini 3 Pro & Inspire 3 - which, respectively, can reach up to 7.5 & 9.32 miles.
Although TBS developed the Crossfire for long range drone & RC plane usage, a lot of RCers interested in speedrun vehicles have adopted its use. Why? What if I told you that, in aerial use, TBS has achieved distances of over 40 miles??? That's why. Granted, there is far greater radio interference at ground level, which greatly reduces that maximum distance...but, even if that "40+ mile" distance (in aerial use) gets knocked down to 10 miles, or even 5 miles, that is still FAR more than any speedrunner would need.
Hopefully, this helps you understand the difference between between boosting an RC radio's internal transmitter using a "range extender" (or "signal booster"), as this video depicts vs using an external transmitter for increasing usable range. Quite often, people use these terms incorrectly. A signal booster, or range extender, takes the original signal, and "boosts" it by adding power to the transmission. A common use of this is when outputting a video/audio signal to multiple TVs (such as one would find in a sports bar). On the other hand, an external transmitter takes the original signal, converts it into its own "language", and then utilizes it's own more-powerful signal to send the 'data' to an Rx operating using the same "language". A perfect example of both of these used together would be how the internet operates. The multiple connections between your internet provider, and the 'end-devices', would be akin to an RC radio's transmitters & receivers. However, the multiple connections between your internet provider and "the web" would be akin to the transmitters & receivers used by external transmitters, as they are far more powerful, faster, and can reach much further.
