An assistant coach for South Sudan, Luol Deng, is a big reason why South Sudan is where they are in terms of international basketball. He was a two time all star for the Bulls a decade ago, a key part of the Derrick Rose Chicago Bulls team that was battling it out with the Lebron Heat. The NBA has done a lot to set up camps and infrastructure to grow the sport in Africa, and Deng's work there has been very important

Wenyon Gabriel - plays euro league but played college for Kentucky and the Lakers in NBA at some point.
Carlik Jones - played college for Louisville and 2 way contract for NBA/G-League. He was the MVP in the g league. Also played with Mavs and nuggets I believe I could be wrong.
Marial Shayok - played college ball at Iowa state and Virginia. Plays g league I think but did play for the sixers at some point.
Majok Deng - played college ball in the US, most notable for Louisiana-Monroe.
Thon Maker - played for the Bucks in think and is currently in g-league.
JT Thor - currently plays for the Charlotte Hornets.
Bol Bol - currently plays for the Orlando Magic. (He was a late scratch from the South Sudanese Olympic team).
Khaman Maluach - 17 year old that will play for the Duke blue devils in the near future.
Alot of these players have experience in US college ball, g league, or NBA. They’re definitely an overlooked team. Good height, and athleticism.

Such a great game and was a pleasure to be there in person. I’m from the UK, been an NBA fan for 11 years so to get the chance to see lebron and Steph before they retire was really cool. Also as a Celtics fan it was awesome to see Jrue, D white and JT. Plus a great game

Just coz you're tall doesn't mean you'll be good at basketball. You need skill to match the height and these Sudanese guys earned a lot of respect from the basketball world

Very impressive shooting by South Sudan. They don't even have any indoor basketball courts there. And shooting on an outdoor hoop and indoor hoop are not the same

There's a strong contingent of South Sudanese players in Australian basketball, which was mentioned in the commentary here. Four of the South Sudanese team play in our national league and there's many starring in our second tier pro-am league with many featuring on national league rosters as development players.

Modern Analytics have forced the NBA to shoot either 3's or layups. Plus, offensive favoring rules have made our defense soft... The rest of the World shoots mid range jumpers and bang below the rim. We are not used to defending either of those. If we have a bad 3pt shooting night we're in trouble. That's why I'm calling for France to win Gold this Olympics.
