Clearly a fantastic video. Paducah is a great city with a fantastic history. Throughout the 70s and 80s, we came close to losing our historic core and a group of folks saw an opportunity to change the makeup and tone of lower town and downtown (not necessarily equitable, however, with people of color and folks living in poverty were sacrificed in the name of tourism and, frankly 💰💰🤑🤑).
I think it's important to point out that the issues in lower town was not due to the overwhelming black population at the time. It was due to years of neglect and turning a blind eye. I just really wish that City leaders had ensured a mix of out of town artists of all ethnicities, local artists (completely overlooked), locally owned small business given the same loans as the artists, limited to minorities and women.
As a matter of fact, it could still be done.

Such a wonderful story of restoring heart to that aspect of the city. Recognizing the unique opportunities and qualities of the area and infusing it with something that wasn't there before but that brings forward the potential of the future. Congratulations to the leadership of Paducah and those visionaries who made it happen and continue to give it life.

WoW! So fantastic, so touching to observe a renaissance from love & respect. Yet not, primarily, from a profit-motive. Could this have happened nowadays? Respect & gratitude to Paducah! %)))

Looks pretty cool. I need to ask a dumb question, from all the way over here in New Zealand. There were no black people or people of colour in your film. What's that about?

      Hi,
I spent most of my childhood in the fair city of Paducah and there are no dumb questions. The reason that men and women of European ancestry are featured in this charming little film is because such folk make up vast majority of Paducah's population. It may also be that people of other ethnicities were not present when the cameras were recording.

9:48 That's a bit of an offhand way of saying "black folks didn't want to leave their homes so we could sell them to middle-aged white artists."
