This was done in the 70's , the machine was called Artic Cat BOSS CAT . The one I watched had a 302 V-8 that was a ice racer. Another was built with an 1000 hp turbine engine. Its well documented with lots of photos.

Will y'all be adjusting the tracks to limit the angle more than what is already in place? It looks like they come up too much but I also don't know much about track vehicles lol
OK. Which part is going to fail first. Its either the front hub knuckle adaptor or the rear cat tracks getting shredded by the teeth of the drive wheel.
First of all, this thing is amazing and love the collaboration between SMCO and Cletus. It looks like the tracks are leaning in at the top. I’m sure this is the result of having to use the hub adapters/ spacers and admittedly there may not be a better option but it looks like it will destroy the wheel bearing and possibly the spindle in the rear. If there is not an option to correct the offset I would definitely carry a hub assembly with you in case of failure. I didn’t think of it until I read the comments, but you might also consider coating the drive sprockets in something to prevent wear on the tracks. I’ve heard of companies using a non textured bed-liner to coat pulleys for industrial purposes. Teflon also comes to mind. Another option may be to sandwich the plastic cogs in aluminum for strength but stop short of the teeth so the tracks are riding on the material they were designed for but still have the reinforced hub. It all depends on if the previous failures were stripped teeth or if it ripped the centers out at the bolt holes. Just some things to think about. Keep up the awesome work!
Really cool build! Just thinking, except for deep powder, maybe ditch the ski's up front, get the correct size combo of float vs. dig tires with one or two custom steel rings around the tires circumference to cut into firmer snow/ice while turning.
Cleetus makes everything pretty dang wild and Dave does everything bigger, better, stronger. What could possibly go wrong? LOL Man those knuckles for the skis are BEEFY!!! Very well engineered and overbuilt. Impressive!
i wouldn't be surprised if there was a definite reason the original drive cog was plastic. 😵 Thinking the new aluminum one is gonna make confetti outta those rubber tracks. Just sayin' 🤠
My only concern would be the amount of contact the wheel makes with the track causing the track to slip. It is over double the power of what it was intended to see in the first place
I'm an engineer. So I DO NOT understand why Dave breaking things can be "bad". It just tells you where you need to reinforce the next one. Ask Alan, next time Dave breaks stuff. He can probably teach you how to analyze the failure.
11 minutes 30 Mark the track on the left side flips up that reassures that my assessment of flipping the rear tracks around is the way to go check the comment below this one
But it didn't flip over. They didn't show it in this video, but in Cleetus' video, he shows that they've got a strut or whatever it's called, to stop it from rolling all the way over.
If u watch it back it actually spits the truck off and up completely when he takes off with any power ,if he was turning at he same time the track would of come off , sick motor but needs some adjustments

Definitely the tracks need anti- rotation bars added before it hits the snow. That’s been the problem with atvs and utvs.
In cleetus video they said they gonna change that because they wanted to do wheelies but its set up to soft.
It has them, but the spring rate wasn’t stiff enough so we fixed that after

Put a strong spring on the limiter so it doesn't flip the Track up. Make it adjustable like coil overs so you can dial it in perfectly

The rear tracks kept lifting up on it I think needs some kinda weight to keep it down .what if it flips over you might wrack ?
The drivers for the tracks could have some sides to grab the nubs /lugs on the inner track.look at the snow machine driver's

I feel like the plastic hub used to be the week link, and now the more expensive belt is. Those aluminum cogs are going to chew up that belt
