@@MrKit19832009 I love This Time but for me the greatest Partridge was at the beginning - Knowing Me, Knowing You, Knowing Me, Knowing Yule and then the first series of I'm Alan Partridge
This is one of the best things when rewatching any of the Gibbons era Partridge; the face acting. Tim Key is especially great at it on Mid Morning Matters. Watching it back I spend more time looking at him than Alan cos his reactions are hilariously awkward.
I love the bit when he reads the text from Lynn: "comfortable, modest and good for Sunday best" And then his utter disdain: "useless" .😂 Such Brilliantly realised characters.
Alan Partridge is the best. I can watch him (and Simon) do anything. Nothing I enjoy more than when Alan gets into a flow state and does something really well like Tesco in Scissored Isle
1991 was when I first creased up listening to Partridge; he was talking about Linford Christie's groin strain. I had almost exactly the same reaction on hearing about the *ladypaste* 30 years later! Comedy genius!
"I heard it's a bit like a guitar string snapping" - On The Hour was just genius. To this day I often thing of the over-abbreviating and then explaining the abbreviation report of the train crash. "IAV - inappropriate approach velocity" Was OtH home to the 2Unlimited interview, or was that Chris Morris doing random radio stuff?
What I love about this is how - especially compared to a lot of other Alan Partridge stuff - it's a very sweet moment in Alan's broadcasting career. In his usual ham-fisted, awkward, naïve way, Alan just gets genuinely excited about nice, affordable fashion for middle aged women, and the idea that it could make them feel good about themselves.
Definitely getting better. The old Partridge stuff "back of the net" etc just doesn't do it for me anymore, he's evolved along with his audience. It's great.
@@CompleteCommando My lunch, my self control, my ability to breathe properly... in other words, I was in a rictus of laughter! Typical reaction to one of Partridge's bizarrely tangential quips.
Alan has his old style sexism in there , added to that his need to become camp to join in just shows his inner struggle to fit in with 2021 TV. With that said , I'm sure I've seen Richard Madeley do exactly the same thing 🤣🤣
I was thinking the same actually myself. I was on the M62 ..just past the services at Kendal I remember it was snowing, just like it always does there of course and i rang Judy and she said Im in bed with a cosey warm chocolate...Not that she often indulges but then so do I ..no sugar for me though. But I prefer wine myself, as I said to Bill Clinton when he was on my show..he agreed though we both had had some bad press back then...Not that Ive got anything against the checkout lady.No. she couldnt have been nicer.
Honestly one of my favourite segments of the show! The details are brilliant, my favourite was when he was talking to the last model saying "perhaps a shocking pink clutch bag" which every woman knows that red and pink is the worst clothing combo - the two should never be seen together! 😂😂
I always think it must be so painful for Steve and the brothers to write the show, as they have to get everything right or ‘wrong’ in Alan’s case, pretty much through the entirety of his dialogue. I’m sure they may have had to search up fashion faux pas, just for that one line.

2021 and we are still getting prime partridge. It’s incredible. It really is.
