    Lyrics
I'm in love with the girl that I'm talking about,
I'm in love with the girl I can't live without.
I'm in love but I sure picked a bad time ...
To be in love, to be in love.
Well, let her be somebody else's queen,
I don't want to know about it.
There's too many others that know what I mean,
And, that's why I got to live without it.
I'm in love with the girl I'm talking about,
I'm in love with the girl I can't live without.
I'm in love but I feel like I'm wearin' it out,
I'm in love but I must have picked a bad time ...
To be in love, a bad time to be in love,
A bad time to be in love, A bad time to be in love.
All the stories coming back to me,
From my friends and the people that I don't want to see.
The things you say I know just couldn't be true,
At least not until I hear them from you.
'Cause I still love the little girl I'm talking about,
I'm in love with the girl I can't live without.
I'm in love but I feel like I'm wearin' it out,
I'm in love but I must have picked a bad time ...
To be in love, a bad time to be in love,
A bad time to be in love, a bad time to be in love.
You know that I love the little girl I'm talking about,
I'm in love with the girl I can't live without.
I'm in love but I feel like I'm wearin' it out,
I'm in love but I must have picked a bad time ...
To be in love, a bad time to be in love,
A bad time to be in love, a bad time to be in love.

That fuzzy sounding five note scale descent beginning at 2.22 is so unique and effective. He knows the relationship is headed downhill.

Omg... I heard this song today ... it brought back so many great memories of my then husband, who has past away recently.
He had sang this song to me when we first were dating, (I had another boyfriend at the time, nothing serious). But after hearing him sing this to me as, he was pointing to me and looking into my eyes while, singing this song, is all it took... I was hooked on him. ( i was, like "what other boyfriend?")... lol...
He was the one... for me...
And we were married for 35 years before, he went on to a better place.
Another song that's dear to me, that he use to sing to, me is called: "This old heart of mine".
Loved, when he sang that to me too... He use to sing to me all the time in our earlier days... I will always and forever treasure those, many precious memories... 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

+56bluegold For me, it was a much better time to have lived in. If you were in Vietnam, or a minority, or in any other way not mainstream, not so good. But Joe the Plumber could make a living, afford a house, get a muscle car and gas it up, and even send his kids to college, an opportunity he probably never had.

How her life turned out? Most likely, she got fat, had some kids, is divorced (maybe more than once) and is a nasty old hag who is bitter towards men who she blames for all that has gone wrong in her life.

I was 19 years old in 1974. I hear you Italo D. Girls feel the same way about long ago boyfriends. I have come across a few of them from back in the day - makes me glad I picked my husband. We were married in 1981.

Yea, I hear you but when a band turns it around and sings love classics, it just shows one their adaptability to do multiple things and do them outstandingly! Such talent in Grand Funk! It’s truly a shame that they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, yet!

During their last significant tour, Guns 'N Roses in '92 regularly led into Sweet Child O' Mine with Axl belting out the opening lines to Bad Time. It was such an unexpected but powerful homage to this deeply affecting tune.
