    Immaculate footage and great angle. It makes you realise just how hard they are hitting the ball and how accurately; just fizzing it low over the net.

    The clarity in this footage is incredible. The best I've ever seen. This angle shows how consistently hard and low both players were hitting the ball over the net. Shapo has a very fluid style that's easy on the eye, while Meddy's style seems more erratic, though still very effective and accurate. It seemed to me that Med was hitting most of his forehands with a lot of topspin during the rallies. Was he?

    Shapo is fun to watch. Always hitting hard with amazing one hander...but consistency is key vs top 10 players.

    Starting to see why Shapo can't get the results he wants: there's no real strategy. Hits a lot of quality shots, some neutral, some hard, but nothing to really set him up in a winning position. Kinda stuck between offense and defense.

    Ik snap de frustratie van de tegenstanders van Daniil Medvedev wel. Hij dwingt z'n tegenstanders tot het spelen van drobshots of het spelen van Serv-volley. Dat doen ze omdat Daniil zover achter de baseline staat te retourneren. De ruimte vlak achter het net gebruiken, of het spelen op een veel sneller tempo (serv-volley) ligt dan voor de hand. Maar de spelers zijn niet gespecialiseerd op dat gebied, terwijl Daniil wel gespecialiseerd is op het verwerken ervan. Wie denk je gaat er winnen? De enige die dat eigenlijk kan omdat het ook tot zijn gebied van expertise ligt, is Alcaraz. En dan met name gebruikmakend van de drobshot maar ook wel het spelen van service-volley.

    I love Shapo's game but if you watch for a few minutes you immediately see how he routinely makes bad decisions on the court. It's his shotmaking and movement that keep him in the match. Also, his constant fistpumping whenever he wins a point is just immature. At 5:41, he wins a long point from an error by Med and he is waving his hand to the crowd for a cheer (off your opponent's error?). He fought hard but c'mon, dude.

    17:30 this should have been Shapovalov's point, Med fed the second ball back before the rally ball had landed out of play

    • @connorpen
      @connorpen ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I noticed that too, but I think the rally ball landed a split second before the second ball. Still technically hinderance or a let, but the umpire should definitely never call that lol

    • @johncharles2357
      @johncharles2357 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@connorpen It doesn't matter which ball landed first. What matters is that he threw a ball into the field of play before the live ball was out.

    There’s a whole generation of players like Shapo who were just too in love with Nadal’s topspin. Shapo hits with topspin but his problem is that his ball doesn’t jump enough or get high enough to be a problem. Combine that with guys getting taller and taller I see why he has stagnated.

    • @n.s.3410
      @n.s.3410 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also, it takes him some extra time to recover from each (forehand) heavy topspin shot that he hits, since he's throwing so much of his body into it. ..and this without really reaping the rewards of the giant bounce and spin-off that Rafa gets. I bet we see him economize his follow-through and recovery as he grows. I hope so because he's incredibly gifted.

    • @jjns5600
      @jjns5600 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Standard top spin forehand of today's game on hard courts actually, nothing new. Rafa's topspin and other players with heavy spin are also more a damaging factor on clay, not hard, hence Rafa's overwhelming dominance on clay. The intention of the heavy spin on asphalt courts is both for creating time and depth, once the ball bounces, enabling a player to physically recover during hard points (& resetting the point to impose one's game), or to defend against an opponent's penetrating (velocity) ball, which makes a defensive response, an offensive one. Standard strategy in professional tennis.

    • @dillydallyyyy
      @dillydallyyyy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jjns5600 yeah idk what the guy is talking about, people think Federer hits flat but have no idea how much top spin his average ball has. It's normal for players to use that much spin, Nadal is just different.
