Is developing the custom AI tool is a smart choice ? Or using the existing Gen AI is smart choice ? What is your opinion? I mean we normally use Java / Node / Puthon / any other tool which is build by some other company. Same way the offers from Google / open ai is giving us, er can use it I guess. Building a scratch Gen Ai Is a humongous task and it comes with a cost. What do you think ? What should be the path of Gen AI for some Java guy having 10 years of exp.
Hi Tanumoy, building custom AI Tools is definitely a smart choice now. Earlier, building a functionality (let's say code writing, sentiment analysis, auto-responding) used to be a heavy project. But with emergence of LLMs that have general understanding of everything, you may elicit desired functionality just by writing few instructions in plain english (aka prompts). Now with a layer of Python code to develop a clean UI, sophisticated backend, along with effective prompts in it - you are able to do build Tools / functionality within days, if not hours. So, it's definitely a curious case of how development will do done in the future.
