Better Late than never, part of the trick to getting those four perimeter screws to line up is to not tighten them down until you have them all started. I have dealt with a number of MaxAir deluxes. Great fans. You can also try to adjust the metal clamp portion on the inside before you start screwing if it appears it won’t hit. You did a great job. And made a great video! Also, one could consider building a wooden frame on the inside of the roof so the mounting screws have more than the fiberglass to bite into.
Excellent job. I’ve Ben procrastinating about installing a fan in my fiberglass hi top for a long time. Your video has given me the confidence to finally do it. I use a Bluetti 1500 for power.
Honestly just freaking do it, you will love it. Just make sure you seal it good. It cools it down so much but definitely make sure you got your power figured out!
Very helpful :) I'm considering putting a MaxAir fan through the fiberglass, in about the same position. I did not know about using double-stick tape between fiberglass and fan shell, and I did not know how to use sealer around the outside. (Yes, I'll use white.) I'd read the Max Air is powerful, but didn't know the power of the sound until I heard yours. Thank you!
I had the same issue installing my vent fan love the persistence, I used the same basic process other than I used white lap sealant been on the van for 2 years no issues or leaks
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I have a 2001 Ford Econoline E-150. I have a curved roof as well and I am so nervous about installing anything on the roof. Have you had any issued with leaks?
Cool cool build lil advise just remember the fan adds height to ur van would measure the distance from top of fan to the ground add at least 2 inches to it make a label put it some where u can see it while driving so u never 4get the height cus there r some bk roads with low clearances also to make sure it can or can not fit in drive thrus just last wk in tn there was a railroad over pass on a bk road we were on and the clearance was one lane 10 ft tall so that would be a problem 4 us however we found a alternative route many blessings keep walking tall and bless great healthy peaceful safe journeys travels and happy camping and happy building u did great job and that's great idea with making the jig jag pattern with the sealant very good idea great job so would like to see more of ur building process and travel vids keep them vids coming truly think ur van will look great when yall r done with it 🚐🏕🌌🌄🏞🏖 👍👍💪🙂👍👍
@@MovementwithDarcy oh okay, ima put some resin and the cloth to seal it cus this is for my topper in my pickup and its a 4x4 dont want any cracks in the future, thanks for the vid!

I have zero problems with leaks or this install. I was very nervous too! Just remember to double check your measurements. Good luck!

👍👍💪🙂👍👍
Thank you! I measured on several different occasions and I am at 9 ft exactly. I play safe with 9'5 cause I'm nervous lol!
thanks! did you treat the fiberglass? like to seal it? Im doing this to a topper
I unfamiliar with treatments unfortunately. I did nothing more than what this video shows and I have had no leaks or issues!
