Hi, like many here, I built the farm and then I read the comments, I was quite disappointed, but after a while, a little angry and looking at other designs, I discovered that the farm does work, only with one modification: instead of carpets, with wither flowers. What you have to do is fill the place where were the carpets with netherrack and these flowers . If you want to know how to get many, I saw this video: th-cam.com/video/5LT1vJCwnOM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JUSTANICO (it is in Spanish) but it shows well how to get many flowers. It wotks, what this guy forgot to mention is that it only work if the fortress is in the soul sand valley biome. It won't work in any other fortress

Farm works fine for me so if it doesn't work it's either version or not enough spawn proofing (made farm on bedrock 1.21)

Good tutorial, was easy to follow and build, but how big of an area do i need to place buttons/lava in the fortress?

Technically you need to spawnproof a radius of 128 blocks (sphere with a diameter of 256) for maximum efficiency but with a farm this small it’s really not worth it.
A radius of 32 blocks is probably enough, because mobs outside of that will despawn after a while, so that more can spawn in the farm.
