Fun fact the only other “psychopath” that’s affected by novelty items is TK’s getaway chopper in DR2. If you use the novelty toy gun you can kill it in seconds because the balls it shoots are classified as throwables which damage the chopper significantly. Great vid, dude!
Statistically speaking, before the re-release on PS4 and PC, more Japanese people had probably experienced Dead Rising through Chop Til You Drop over the 360 version.
5 & 7 Day survivor does allow pausing. I know because after pulling an all nighter in high school and getting distracted to the point of dying and having to restart twice on day 4 and 5 respectively, I decided I had to get some sleep so I just paused and came back to it a couple hours later without issue. Still one of my proudest gaming achievements, but holy hell what an absolute nightmare getting that achievement was.
That's dedication! My biggest achievement was complete cod: World at war on veteran difficulty... being pinned down by 5 grenades constantly! Blowtorch and corkscrew was the worst!!!!

yo, some corrections: -Ending E in Dead Rising 2 technically does exists, because Ending A was originally the cutscene before Overtime mode, causing the listing of the endings to be off in the files. This can be found in the animation files. -There are WAY more cut weapons in DR2, but only have leftover icons. -Theres also more cut weapons in DR3, although not as many as in DR2. -The 25th survivor in DR3 really is just an error, as its actually Sunshine from the 1st DLC episode. -Theres technically 2 Looter portraits, although the only difference is slightly different camera angles. -I think the “DR1 Ending A is canon” is just Capcom saying something dumb.
I think Chuck is the 25th survivor in dead rising 3 since he takes over that exact same role during the final mission. They probably were gonna let us unlock him as a post game reward but realized it wasn’t smart to let Chuck potentially die or give the players a immortal companion

I’ve noticed another cool thing while playing Dead Rising 1. In the cutscene in the Entrance Plaza where Frank stares at Isabela, you can see the Tyke and Tots store sign behind her, although Tyke and Tots is actually in Paradise Plaza underneath the right staircase.
honestly, it is a blessing in disguise that Dead Rising 5 was canceled. Dead Rising 4 was absolutely horrible and like you, i doubt dead rising 5 would have been any better. I do hope that one day a new dead rising does come out, a remake of the first maybe, but as long as people who actually played the originals and pay respect to them make it, i dunno if i want it
I watched a video on the topic like a year ago and one of the things mentioned in it, is that it seems like the guys in charge of the studio didn't want to make a DeadRising game at all. Instead pitching completely different concepts or dragging the series through different genres. Like in the suggested Chuck and Kathy game, where Kathy gains Zombie Super powers. This led the dev team into many problems, like how when Capcom Japan, their main financiers, told them to make a Dead Rising game, management felt challenged in their position and so, led the studio into a wild goose chase that ended in nowhere. Until Capcom Japan got so angry, that they set a deadline for a new DR title for less than a year. Leading to the rushed mess that was DR4. In other words, while the dev team was all for making another great DR game, a lack of leadership and direction ruined the series.
Greatly in depth video but there's a couple of things you overlooked which may interest you. -Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. Frank appears in this crossover fighting game along with an Entrance Plaza stage. Zombies all also curiously have camera's and they'll take pictures as you fight. Brad and Jessie also make cameos in Frank's ending. - Lost Planet (PC) and Lost Planet 2. Frank is a playable skin, ripped directly from the original game.
There is another possible Left 4 Dead reference in DR2 OTR, in the americana casino there is a suit that greatly resembles Nick's Suit from Left 4 Dead 2
In the fight against Adam the Clown in the first game, we see bloody dolls on the rollercoaster, implying Adam killed kids, honestly looking at how that scene was framed, I can't help but wonder if in earlier builds or design documents, they're actually was meant to be dead or zombified children in that scene and it was altered to avoid ESRB or public backlash issues.
Another interesting thing is that Larry is the only psychopath who does not immediately attack you. He will only attack Frank after he lands the first blow.
If they made DR 5 make the plot this: The government to create distrust between the public and Frank West made DR 4 a movie in the universe, one that was universally panned, in order to get the support back Frank and Others try and make a new movie, and They Hire actor Clint Rockfoot, so they decide to head over and film the project in florida(pseudo Universal Studios like park) and thats when it hits the fan, you end up in a movie studio/amusement park/city/swamp/wilderness, give people a diverse setting to play in

this is still a personal gripe for me but, I did hope (along with decent psychos) that DR4 would have the True Eye Cult, where some of the survivors had survived the first game's catastrophe and made shop with in new Willemett, and when hearing of Frank back in town, they try to kill him, leading to him encountering the newest True Eye Cult leader, along with that the cult, when catching Frank, could be seen with some of the combo gear they stole off of Frank. I just thought that would've been a cool nod, but sad to say we got DR4 and not what we hoped for
I think I remember in an Interview with Ign to promote DR OTR they did say they brainstorm Ideas for the new area. one of which included a Chienses theme area before Settling on the space theme

Great video, something I'd like to add as well: I always found it weird that it was insisted Las Vegas exists within the DR universe (there was an outbreak there and it's where Chuck's wife died) when Fortune City itself is a parody of, or at least highly inspired by, Las Vegas. Even the logos for the cities are nearly identical. Just imagine both New York City and Liberty City existing within the GTA universe. This is what I thought the "Fortune City geographically makes no sense" entry was gonna be about. Once again, great video!

There's a reference to Frank in Mega Man ZX (which came out a few months before DR), where in NPC on the rooftops in the town area mentions their dream to be like "Frank something, I forgot his name. But he was a famous wartime photojournalist!".
The Camera Sticker/Emoticons are possibly (from left to right): Drama (looks like a tragedy/comedy mask), Brutality (Because it's a fist, indicates violence), Erotica (Heart and Lips), Horror (Bleeding eye, indication of something spooky), and Outtake (Shows a laughing face, as Outtakes are for funny moments)
About the Western Park file name. My theory is that this was either a placeholder name during development, because before any names were set, all the devs knew that this park area would be for the frank 'West' game. Or that in an older version, the park was made in honor of Frank West, as if to explain why it exists in OTR and not DR2. Maybe they even planned to theme it after Willamete Mall but scratched that during development.
Dead rising one is in a three-way tie has my favorite game of all time! And I have gotten all of the achievements, ( even the stupidly hard ones but then again I had a lot of time on my hands back in the late to mid 2000s, ) twice. 4 wasn't the worst game they just made a lot of stupid decisions and I'm still hoping we will get a new entry someday
Actually she dies in Fortune City, if you go to the same room where you have to save her in DR2, you can find her backpack, her legally distinct PSP and a lot of blood, so it is implied she was there waiting for Chuck like in the original game but Chuck couldn't get to her in time and the zombies ate Katey, which leads to psycho Chuck

Dead Rising 3 and 4 have achievements connected to Left 4 Dead games which I consider as another example of a friendly tribute between those game production teams.

I've only played the first dead rising for a bit, and haven't played the others, but DR1 definitely seemed rather comedic, like what you'd expect from Shawn of the dead. Hearing about the prologue is surprisingly sad, especially seeing as you think that they might actually make it out alive on account of them narrowly avoiding death twice before they're surrounded

I always found it weird that it was insisted Las Vegas exists within the DR universe (there was an outbreak there and it's where Chuck's wife died) when Fortune City itself is a parody of, or at least highly inspired by, Las Vegas. Even the logos for the cities are nearly identical.
Just imagine both New York City and Liberty City existing within the GTA universe.

1:10:09, i play the ps4 versions of these games exclusively, mostly because i can't play dead rising on the ps3, but i've never encountered this glitch. maybe that's why no one's mentioned it, i've just straight up never seen this happen.
There's a reference to Frank in Mega Man ZX (which came out a few months before DR), where in NPC on the rooftops in the town area mentions their dream to be like "Frank something, I forgot his name. But he was a famous wartime photojournalist!".

About the Western Park file name.
My theory is that this was either a placeholder name during development, because before any names were set, all the devs knew that this park area would be for the frank 'West' game.
Or that in an older version, the park was made in honor of Frank West, as if to explain why it exists in OTR and not DR2. Maybe they even planned to theme it after Willamete Mall but scratched that during development.
Dead rising one is in a three-way tie has my favorite game of all time! And I have gotten all of the achievements, ( even the stupidly hard ones but then again I had a lot of time on my hands back in the late to mid 2000s, ) twice.
4 wasn't the worst game they just made a lot of stupid decisions and I'm still hoping we will get a new entry someday

Actually she dies in Fortune City, if you go to the same room where you have to save her in DR2, you can find her backpack, her legally distinct PSP and a lot of blood, so it is implied she was there waiting for Chuck like in the original game but Chuck couldn't get to her in time and the zombies ate Katey, which leads to psycho Chuck

In Left 4 Dead (2008) there is an achievement ZOMBIE GENOCIDEST "Kill 53,595 Infected."
In Left 4 Dead 2 (2009) there is an achievement Z-GENOCIDEST 2: EPISODE 2 "Kill 53,599 infected. You made sure the dead won't rise anymore!"
In Dead Rising 2 (2010) there are two achievements Z-Genocider 2: Genocide Harder "Killed 53,596 zombies. You left them all for dead!" and Zombie Genocide Master "Killed 72,000 zombies. King of carnage!"
In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (2011) there are two achievements Luggage Code "Killed 12,345 zombies. That's the kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!" and Six Digits?!? "Killed 100,000 zombies. The blood of the undead feeds your power."
In Dead Rising 3 (2013) there are three achievements Master of Massacre "Killed 53,597 zombies.", Genius of Zombie Slaying "Killed 72,000 zombies." and Left 100,004 Dead "Killed 100,004 zombies."
In Dead Rising 4 (2016) there are two achievements Z-Genocider 4: The Return "Kill 53,598 zombies" and Left 100,004 Dead 2 "Kill 200,008 zombies"
In Back 4 Blood (2021) there is an achievement Good Riddence! "Kill 53,600 Ridden over your career"
So this information gives us a clue how different games continued "Z-Genocide" type achievements starting from 53,594 in 2006 to 53,600 in 2021 by adding 1 each time. It explains why the achievement requirement for zombie kills in Dead Rising 2 jumped up by 2. It was because of the first part of Left 4 Dead.
Back 4 Blood was made by the same people who made Left 4 Dead games, and I guess this is why we still see that "Z-Genocide" achievement in 2021.
Dead Rising 3 and 4 have achievements connected to Left 4 Dead games which I consider as another example of a friendly tribute between those game production teams.

I have no idea what the uploader is talking about. Capcom has never once stated that Overtime in DR1 is non-canon.
I never knew about that censored clothing item so I looked a bit further into it and if you check the DR PC model wiki it appears to have the uncensored version listed, maybe it’s still in the game files but hidden?

I've only played the first dead rising for a bit, and haven't played the others, but DR1 definitely seemed rather comedic, like what you'd expect from Shawn of the dead. Hearing about the prologue is surprisingly sad, especially seeing as you think that they might actually make it out alive on account of them narrowly avoiding death twice before they're surrounded
