Love that you were drawing the flower of life. I like to draw sacred geometry objects as a meditative exercise.

Geometry is wonderful and I love Japanese patterns. I’ll attempt going a way pattern next :)

I am so grateful to see a serious critical look at this magnificent pen. So many thanks!

I fear that many reviewers these days just simply state what one can already see. I try at least to analyse the pen at a deeper level. Of course, sometimes this is hard and it can be very subjective.

Elite level fountain pen use with a ruler 📏 🖋️🙌 . So fascinating to see in action. I’ve only ever done this with drafting pens, but will try it with a fountain pen when I find the time to sketch (cross hatch level up!). Thank you for sharing your insights.

"It's like my thoughts are flowing directly from my mind through the nib and onto the page." I like that sentiment. There are but a few fountain pens that I prefer which are able to maintain this almost magical capability. The wonderful combination of artifices which allow this performance in a simple fountain pen are apparently difficult, but only briefly capable of being achieved. Once in hand, though, it is instantly recognizable.

There’s always a deeper level than what’s before our eyes :)

Pens as cultural gateway, I like that.

The Pelikan Maki-e Raden brought me to Pelikan pens and in turn to the world of Maki-e. I beheld a Namiki Yukari at Brachard, Geneva and decided to delve into their world. Absolutely rivetting.

Namiki produces some great pens. Some, less so.. due to screen printing (which is fine, but the marketing I feel infers they are hand painted). I wish they were more transparent about their production techniques!
Still, when you get into their more expensive offerings, they are exquisitely done.

@@PenFriends the Night Scene Pavilion 2008 model is on my radar, I find it more beautiful than its recent version.

I’ve got one of these on order.
(The one thing I don’t understand is why place the clip over the artwork when there’s a blank area left open?)

Absolutely valid point! They could easily wrap the design to the left or right. I’d also like the option for clipless models too

@@PenFriends Clipless would work best! I don’t think this pen is one that anyone would clip anywhere anyway! 🤔
