I have the most beautiful saddle ever made. It’s a work of art that holds incredible memories of a horse that was my best friend, and the friendship of a gifted saddle maker. My saddle will be passed down to many generations who will love and treasure it, just as I did. Thank you Richard❤️
So when I was young we had an old saddle that sat like a chair. As we have no saddle makers my dad bought a second saddle which was flexible like a brick and sitting on it to the back it was so curved that it would throw you over the neck of the horse. These Oliver saddles cost, but they will last in good shape. And we in Europe do not know shit about Texas. Texas is oil for us and that is it. I like the three cowboys on the shop logo. And we even don't have the word for that bar to lace up a horse. At best you'll find a cowboy hat over here. Yihaaah!
@MysteriousOklahoma what do you mean by that? I find that wading cattle statue in Houston very good. First thing I would gonna see going to Texas. Very beautiful and it pictures the State of Texas perfectly. Or is that in Dallas? Short horn...
@MysteriousOklahoma short horn, when I was a kid I knew a man from Texas, a real cowboy. A city cowboy. Very friendly man who worked as an expat in Belgium.
Richard it's been almost 44 years since I met you and your family. I still think of your place like it was then. I still have my belt your brother gave me , it's too small now. Good to see you and your family.
When you hear someone say you just buying a name they have no idea what it takes to make saddle. A custom builder like these people are build a whole lot more in the saddle than any of the factory saddles you see. 1 maker builds it from start to finish instead of multiple people down a factory line. The custom saddles will always be far better than anything built in a factory. The craftsmanship is a whole lot better along with the value of the saddle as a used saddle. It may cost you more from the start but it is like the old saying, you get what you pay for. Just compare a custom built saddle to a factory saddle sometime. Look at the materials, detail, the stitching, etc, look at how it is built & you will see the difference.
my dad and grandfather are saddle makers from greenville texas, my dad is felipe sanchez and has a saddle shop in van alstyne, my grandfather passed away-his saddle shop was vega & sons.
