The slow/controlling style that Danaher/Gordon specialize in only works when one has a significant size/strength advantage. So Gordon and all the New Wave are on an insane level of steroids, this strength makes it significantly easier to be slow and controlling. Danaher’s entire philosophy is “control leading to submission”, well guess what? It’s way easier to control ppl when you’re huge and strong af. There’s a reason why the smaller guys on dds don’t win as much, it’s because danahers style doesn’t necessarily work for them. Danaher even admitted his mistake of coaching Garry Tonon on control rather than submission hunting. If you’re smaller, you have to be fast and athletic.

So i kinda have to be flexible in that sense but it has forced me to not be a one trick poney.

I mean it’s a nice superfight but it makes no sense to make it an official medal. Pena last won at adcc in 2017 and lost quite a few matches since then. All respect to him but how they call that an official medal is just stupid and takes away from the real superfight medal.

I came back to finish the video but the fact that he’s “letting” people win GOLD shows that medals don’t matter. My guy just invented a brand new gold medal off a whim ( and to compete with CJI Saturday) Like I couldn’t imagine not taking a chance at 1 million for this. Like how can you look at your children and family and explain you won a this gold medal instead of a million bucks lol.

Roger and Marcelo are the 🐐s. Roger didn't pick and choose opponents. He subbed everybody in his division and absolute at ADCC while being the "gi guy." Gordon never won all matches by sub, or came close.

It’s boring to people because he just beats everyone, people dislike him because he beats everyone, people don’t like him because of his confidence because he beats everybody, he’s like Djokovic, Usain Bolt, Michael Schumacher ect and they were all super confident because they knew they were the best. If they weren’t confident/arrogant then they wouldn’t be the winners they are like him/them or not. Crazy thing about Ryan is the health issues that he deals with on a day to day basis. People will miss him when he retires. I don’t want to watch second best or third best.

The price of being that good is that everyone can’t be competitive against you. All due respect to Yuri but it’s crazy to think that he could beat Gordon… Peña after Meregali is even crazier, the only guy now that can be close to it is Victor Hugo, Nicky rod can’t do anything apart from trying to body lock pass in every fight
