Great podcast! It had a lot of useful information for when my G11T finally ships.

I just happened to stumble on this one. I love the podcasts, keep them coming. What a coincidence, I was shopping this morning for a Telegismos cover for my GM811 that I just ordered.

Great to here from Bob and learn best practices for 360 covers. I love my regular cover for field trips.

Wow, another great PodCast, Tanya and Brian! I always look forward to seeing these every month!
I have 2 permanent piers and I use Telegizmos 365 covers which cover my mounts 365 days a year. They work so well and make my life easier because I'm always polar aligned! Now I'm wondering if there is some sort of maintenance that can be done to extend the life and reliability of the covers such as cleaners and UV rejuvenation. I've only had the condensation issue once in 2 years of having a mount outside. I'm going to look at getting the gun safe warmers as suggested by Brian as keeping the inside a little warmer would certainly keep condensation away from the inside, so great suggestion!
Also The inspiration 4 mission is a SpaceX mission. Blue Origin was not involved in this mission. SpaceX is the only private space company that can offer orbital space flights. Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic are both private companies that offer sub-orbital space flights which only last a few minutes in space, opposed to the multi-day mission SpaceX can offer.

The Telegizmos 365 has been a great cover for me for the last 18 months or so, and like Brian, mine weathered a crazy couple of winters with high winds (sometimes over 40 mph), and over 2 feet of rain in the 2022-2023 rain season. My G11G + EdgeHD 11" and all my camera gear stay outside year 'round and have remained safe and dry through all of it.
In the last 6 months or so, though, I've noticed the inner aluminized layer is shredding and sloughing off in little bits. The material isn't robust enough to withstand "pointy" objects projecting from the telescope (like metal knobs on the finder scope or screws on dovetails mounted to the OTA exterior) coupled with winds battering the cover and grinding the interior surface against those metallic protuberances.
At some point I'm going to have to replace my cover, and my thinking is that a towel should probably be hung over the pointy parts to protect the Telegizmos interior thermal layer. Might be worthwhile for Bob to suggest that course of action with the cover's instructions. 🙂

Getting ready to finally pull the trigger on a new G11G within the next month. Trying to decide if I order direct or through a distributor like High Point Scientific. Will a 30th Anniversary shirt be included either way or only on direct orders? Thanks.

They are included with all mounts and if you didn’t get one with your mount you can always contact us with your receipt and we will send one to you if our records show it wasn’t in the mount packaging. We want you to have your tshirt 😀

@@TKNoHo1254 Thanks! Looking forward to joining the Losmandy family. Maybe Scott can send Brian Valente to the Texas Star Party at the Prude Ranch in Ft Davis, TX in 2023 (Bortle 2-2.5 and roughly 5,000ft). It would be great to see you guys in the Lone Star State!
