Ever wonder what "Lake Effect Snow" looks like in person? This video takes you through the progression as I enter on one side of the snow band and then back out the other side. Cars and trucks in the ditch, snow covered tollways, and slow moving traffic are definitely the norm.
Great vid!!! I think truckers are some of the most skillful drivers. I like your cautiousness. Thanks for the posting!
Erie,PA native trucker here. Thanks for the vid bro. Way to be safe.
I live in N/C Indiana very near MM72 [long story, no time] and use 80/90 often, work is to the east, friends to the west in Skokie and Glencoe Illinois and I bid you welcome to the snow belt!
I own a small rice burner coupe with 18" wheels and high performance tires that SUCK when it's raining and despite the traction control, especially when it's snowing. When I'm on the road in weather like your video depicted, which is too often, I always hope to find a trucker like you to follow, you are a pro!!
Be safe out there!
a good and safe truck driver, good for you
Nice drive
Great Vid, Stay Safe !!
I miss these kinda cool video, please do some more of you going to different stops
At about the 40:46 mark in the video, did your GPS just say "hang a right"? I've never heard that from a GPS. They usually are all proper and say "turn right", not "hang a right". How did you get it to say that?
Thanks for the info. I just may do that!
Good video
Good old northern European winter.
I'm impressed!! You're a very good driver. I'm in the south and have always wondered how do you navigate through the snow and ice. Sooo. . .the heavier your load, the better the traction and ability to cut through the ice?
We have a U.S. 30 here in Pennsylvania too.
Good philosophy. All you have to do is watch the April Wyoming horrific pile-up to know that speed kills and conditions can change almost instantly. I'm sure you have seen that debacle.
Gotta keep on trucking
Bin there drove in it or worse. Number 1 rule do not change direction or speed quickly, you ride the tire tracks and stay away from other vehicles. In 47 years of being a licensed driver and living in the land of winter ice and snow I have wiped out in the ditch all of once and that time I was being reckless demonstrating the stability of my '75 Camaro on an ice covered road. One advantage the Trucker has is they are up higher and have a longer line of sight as well as being able to lock their axle differentials,he says he has 10,000 pounds on the trailer deck which is light however he is not top heavy. I would say he has the right strategy to roll through this. You roll through snow storms like this you don't drive through them there is not a lower and faster speed there is only an optimal speed that will give you the flotation to not sink and the ability to coast to a stop and maintain your weight at 90*degrees to the road surface on a banked curve. Good luck to all driving in icey conditions it can be no place for the faint hearted.
Great Great comment. You nailed EVERYTHING perfectly.
@@Tornado_Grammy I only drive in conditions like that if I have to best to wait it out if possible.
after 13:20min gets bad, how fast are you going?
احفظهم ياخير الحافظين
Hey thanks: totally odd, this may sound totally odd, but i never knew truckers could talk: I just thought they were trucks.
bout that time again. not bad just take our time. I like it here at jb
Why on earth would a Company put your safety in jeopardy like that! It just goes to show that money means more to the selfish, greedy, rich than the safety and well being of their employees and others. I am glad you made it safely!
Upstate NY resident here, it's snow. Chances are extremely low of getting killed by snow. In heavy snow you are driving slowly. You have a greater chance of dying from the cold. Life must go on.
you hauling pillows
I member driving a rig in that stuff in Michigan. That's why I got the hell outta Dodge. Lousy way to make coin
